@TheMummamac Noni wanted the job because she wants to help people understand that they're not bad parents when this happens, and that it's okay to ask for help. She had lots of problems getting her son to sleep, and she struggled on without seeking help because she felt that people expected her to deal with it easily as she was a Play School presenter and had lots of experience with kids. It's a major issue that is largely unaddressed beause parents are afraid of being viewed as incapable.

Why do so many people think a Children's TV presenter swearing is funny? I think it's sad we have come down to the lowest form of "comedy" I'm a 50 yo male worked 20 years in the security Industry and can swear with the best of them, but the way this whole thing is presented sounds like the couple in the book should not have had a baby in the first place! The tone of the phrase "Go the F to sleep to me is threatening and just comes across as bad taste, I like Noni but this is disappointing.

Gangsters etc where you would expect the characters to behave in that manner, Where as here we have a well known Children's Television presenter using the "F" word in a menacing way with regard to a baby, I just don't think this is funny or entertaining in fact it's disappointing.

Given that Noni is associated predominately with Children's television, and she reads the book as if relating to a child compounds my dislike of it. Some of the funniest comedy contains no bad language, for example, the two Ronnie's, Seinfeld etc. There are many clever, funny works in print but this is not one of them.
