  • Very cool tractor, great work.

  • Yep allittle heat and that baby prob. would off come right off .Heat does great things....lol And great job on your resto

  • one way to get pulleys off no problem heat the pulleys and shaft up then take a candle and rub it aroumd the sahft and the key way the heat will draw in the wax then just give it a tap works every time

  • dude do you eatch trailer park boys you sound like sam losco

  • can you tell me the size of the rear tires

  • Hi John!

I like this tractor it's so incredibly simple in it construction, things like this can keep up forever! Old iron is the spirit of life. Thanks!

    Torsten

  • I wouldnt use such a modern engine on that beuty, I would use an old vintage kohler or somethin.

  • I've had to remove pulleys off in the past and all I did was mig weld a fine threaded nut to the center of the pulley, spray some WD-40 in on the shaft and use a bolt to pull the pulley off. Works better than a puller because your pulling from the center of the pully and not the outer edge. Nutt'in to it :) Great video. enjoyed it.

  • great vids man...i have always messed with 2 cylinder john deeres and am new to the mower thing but i am on the look out for a speed x in mid missouri there isnt many speed x around here i guess there wasnt a dealer around here keep up the good work.....5*******

  • looks like a nice restoration

  • The paint looks soo great on that thing!

I was gonna make myself a plow, but a solid end. Should probably make a weak link in it, so that breaks instead of anything important. Dont relaly want to make my own pivoting plow.

  • Just my 2 cents---to get those pulleys off i have had really good luck with heating the pulley with oxy/actylene and using a puller to take them off. sometimes it takes a few times of heating and cooling to break it loose.

  • Thank you for the comment! I have not tried oxy/acetylene on the Speedex pulleys. I have used Map Gas in the past....These pulleys are not Brazed nor are they silver soldered. IT looks like "copper" but I do not know of copper soldering?

  • Where did you find those front Tires?? they look brand new in your video and I haven't been able to find tread designs like those originals anywhere. I found a more generic version at central Tractor that i'm using on my '58 wheel horse, but original design like that would be a nice touch. Thanks for making these videos!! You're doing great work

  • Actually they are original. I will be on a hunt for the exact set for our Speedex lawn cart so I will keep you posted.

  • funny its actually unortunate i didnt get a video of me pulling around 2 200lb guys it was hillarious.

i found out how tough it was when i actually towed my 1976 gran torino across my street and pushed it back to where it is sittin now.very strong motors

  • Yet another nice vid buddy, so excited to see this thing all painted up and in action! lucky kids ! hahaha

  • @AnthonyLane100 Thank you! My kids are excited and I am excited for them. I was on your page tonight and seen the Craftsman in the snow, then on the garage door! lol! I used to tie a plastic sled to the back of our riding mower and pull my kids all over the place. Have fun!
