  • Thank you for this post. I am an American and my parentage is Irish and Greek. I always found it interesting (and sometimes downright uncanny) just how similar my two sides of the family were. The singing, the culture, their outlook on life all have striking commonalities.

  • Thanks for commenting! Yes, the similarities are obvious!! Maybe because both musics are pentatonic! This music (epirus music) comes from epirot mountains and it is clearly a mountainous music....

  • You will hear this type of Singing All over southern Albania, Very nice !! Is this type of singing only sung in N.W Greece?

  • mostly Epiros, and western Makedonia where i'm from, we're all cousins, we eat the same food, listen to the same music, work our asses off,Shqiptar or Ellinas

  • we have this type of songs in central greece to, sung by the sheepards in the mountains
