In the Japanese version of the game you found a second man one town over from where you find "error" His name roughly translates to Bug. The producers thought it would be funny to have a "bug" and "error" as the firt easter eggs When the game was released in America they either took him out or changed the name (it's 2 AM I'm allowed to forget Nintendo history details) but forgot to do the same with Error confuseing many.
