It's actually not as 殘忍 as the "monkey brain" us chinese came up with. Most sea creatures have a mono-cycle nerve system, which is proven to be insensitive to pain. Basically even if you keep cutting them all they will do is react to it, but their brain is not complex enough to have them feel the pain.

Pain isnt a bad thing, for it serves as a warning sign to self.

The "I feel pain, I have a neocortex, therefore since fish do not have neocortex must mean they don't feel pain" is wrong logic. We don't know how fish -experience- pain. But when you stab it with a needle and it moves away is a hint. Some argue that it's just a 'reflex' to get away from damage. In the meantime, I prefer to play it safe and humane.
