grew up on listening to charley pride, tammy, buck, the hag and so many others that sang country. mr. pride has to be one of my favorites. saw him in concert in n.w. fla. many moons ago. may his music live on
He is a legendary great American... A baseball player... and a CW artist. Top that. Thank you Charley Pride for your contributions... God bless you my fellow great American.
This is one of my favorite Charlie Pride songs, next to Church In The Wildwood and Missippi Cotton Pickin Delta Town. I grew up listening to Charlie Pride, and my dad used to play a lot of his songs on the guitar.
im a 52 yo miami boy, grew up on rock n roll, but asa kid i heard this song on a tv show, and fell in love w/ this mans music ,it made me start appreciating different types of music, thanks CHARLIE
@tomi06902 Wow! Who would have thought all the way to Guyana. Of course it's no surprise with music like this. I'm in Canada and grew up on Mr. Pride's beautiful songs. I still love his music.
My Stepdad inspired me to play music when he sang Charley's songs. I learned a lot on pedal steel guitar listening to Charley's records. A great voice, a legend, with great musicians backing him up. This is country music at its finest!
I've been listening to Charley's music for forty years. Met his wife and two boys at a Fair back in the 70's while Charley was on stage. In his 70's and still touring. Not many voices like his anymore.
how any human can express any kind of hate toward Carlie Pride seems imposible to me. but then again, i realize, history is ugly and often wrong. I, myself, find it imposible to have anything but love for the man. Forced to think on things I dont want to think on, I realize the man had haters , and lots of them. I accept that evil, and yet he be beautiful! I wish this thing were not Charlie Pride, but it is...I just enjoy the music, peace loving, friendly, funny and beautiful inocent music.
Charly Pride is my favorite country singer of all times, all his songs have a great message and i love all of them. This one makes me think of the summer time, sitting in a old beat up ford truck and going down a old country dirt road with a mason jar of ice tea and smelling a country garden, such as green onions, potatoes, tomatoes, and there is no air in the truck but all the windows are down because its 105 degrees outside, all this is happing in my home state TEXAS.

What a voice!! He truly is an amazing singer, one that doesn't need a studio to sound good. His voice is right on when he sings live, as his recordings.
He had a choice between professional baseball or a singing career. I"m glad he chose singing. He left a mark on country music that will never be replaced.
When I was a kid my father searched hi and low for this song. I was with him in a store when he found it. He was so excited that he embarrassed me in front of this lady. " I found it ! I found it ! he kept saying I wanted to hide. Yep good old Pop.
One of the BEST Country Legends there is or ever has been. Such a nice man and so appreciative to his many loyal fans. YES, I'm one of them. I remember him since I was a young child, I'm 45 now but grew up on nothing but country music in our house. Love Mr. Pride ! Wish he'd come back to Pigeon Forge, TN again! Saw him a few years ago, awesome show.
I coached football at Memphis State in the mid '70's & I recruited Charley's son, Kraig. When I went to their home in North Dallas, I could not have been treated nicer. Charley & family were so fine & kind. Charley & I went to see Jesuit (the team Kraig played for) play Houston St. Thomas in 20 degree temp for the Catholic State Championship. Charley had some anti-freeze on him so we stayed reasonably thawed out. It was a great game & I signed Kraig to a full scholarship.
Wonderful. I was very impressed to hear he flew all the way to Alberta to refund a Canadian fan her money when she was ripped off by a ticket resaler.
Charley had alot to prove by being a black man in a world of white! I think that he more than succeeded, and he cried when he was inducted into the Hall of Fame!!! Great man!!!
My favourite alltime "Charlie Pride" record. My "Ford Capri" was stolen in 1976. I was more upset that my "Charlie Pride " cassette was still in the player. I got the car back but not the tape. At least the thief had taste.
