hey guys, get your spelling right! it's PANUNTUKAN, the root word of which is SUNTOK (punch).
people insisting on misspelling it as 'panantukan' should know that it doesn't mean anything in the philippines except sound like a mangled version of the word 'ANTOK' which means SLEEPY! = )
Hello cbalshikya, thanks for your feedback. This really is a great system and we feel very fortunate to have been able to learn it from Guro Inosanto.
Hello Silatguy. Yes Panantukan has entries very similar to Silat, so does JKD, Wing Chun, even Muay Thai has some stuff that's similar, that's why it's confusing to people sometimes. Your correct about the range. Another thing is Silat generally throws or sweeps, Panantukan generally off balances to opponent to hit them better. There are aspects of Kali that do throw and grapple, but they break out of the area of Panantukan.
this is cool stuff. you know what i notice about filipino arts is that as far as panantukan/filipino boxing goes the moves and entries are almost exactly the same as indonesian silat except that silat usually moves in a little closer with the footwork, both for weapon and empty hand range. hm
