I love this piece, I played it for my Gr8 years ago and got a really good mark on it, Played it for my teacher at music college and she tore it to bits haha, Suppose theres no pleasing everyone! Amazing player Nick thanks for the recordings
So easy comfortable and easy........ until you play it yourself. I have to prepare this one and "Arethusa" for a competition. It's amazingly beautiful, but I can only dream of reaching that level...
hey, this is pretty cool. I am in 9th grade and am going to play 4 of these movements. Out of 7, 7 being the hardest, it's a 7. Thanks for making recordings of these songs easy to watch all on the same site and oboeist. Thanks again! By the way, you are an amazing player!
Nicely done! I'm interested in how one should play the last bar of the first section before the pause. You play it 'as written' although I note that in my copy (B&H 17985) there are actually only 8 beats in this bar - my tutor suggested that an alternative might be to play the quavers as 'duplets' with each one falling on the 1st, 2nd and 4th beat respectively? I would be very interested in your thoughts! Many thanks. AJM
Sorry to only get around to this now. I play the notes in that bar exactly as Britten wrote, he was a famous control freak as a composer, in a good way, and I think he would have written duplet brackets had he wanted them. Good luck with everything, all best, ND

Phaeton is officially my favorite song now, I made my school's top band by playing it.
This recording really helped me with it. Thank you!!!
