Cats are not meant to be in a low gravity environment and they cannot react as they would in a greater gravity environment. It's better to check them out on the plane rather than after they wind up in space. They learned this lesson with Spacelab after sending a monkey experiment up and figuring out after it was up that the waste disposal system was GRAVITY FED. This is actually on NASA's vomit comet, a plane that simulates no gravity by doing long diving parabolas. Gravity returns (with a vengeance) when the plane pulls up out of the dive.

The only force acting on the cat is the force from the astronauts shoving it. It hits the wall with significantly less force than it would if it were, say, jumping from a desk. Long story short, the cat is fine.

Though there's no gravity, that cat is still hitting that wall with the force that the person puts on the cat. Now, when I jump up from a trampoline, gravity is not positively working on me. Still, when my head conks a branch, it friggin' hurts. x.x

Even though gravity IS acting on you (creating acceleration of roughly 10m/s downward), the amount of force from the trampoline is enough to counteract gravity, and, unfortunately for you, allow you to hit your head on a branch rather hard.
