oh im sorry u must be right then i got it wrong he dnt look cocky at al does he? what the fucks bush u mean weed ? he was more into the pills around this time
What an amazing time! If I recall correctly it was about December 1990? I can remember being off my face in and out of boozers with 100 quid christmas money from my old man and two weeks YTS money. I was on top of the world.
Who has had more fun than this? Bez is the most natural dancer ever. What originals. Just doing themselves and having the best time. So much sunshine...
Forgive me because we did not have this show in the States (our equivalent would have been American Bandstand). But you mean all the guest bands never actually performed? What a silly concept. ;)
If you ever saw t'mondays live, you would probably understand why they mimed.
Largely they mimed because it just made their day at TotP easier though. If you got on the show then you sold a load more records that week, simple maths. If you mime you can be in and out of the studio in the time it takes for the song to play, plus people get to hear the version that sounds like the record you are trying to sell.
if you look at it that way, why did they bother getting the bands in at all, why not just make TOTP a music video show instead of a "live performance" show. Its pretty much what they're doing anyway
Because TOTP started in the sixties when music was popular but the concept of the music video didnt exist. The format of TOTP didnt change that much in 40 years except in the 60's and 70's when bands couldnt show up they used dancers to move to the music, then from the 80s onwards they did show videos, but people still liked to see the bands show up. Video shows did kill TOTP though, well, MTV and the stations that show videos all day did. Though I do hear TOTP is coming back as people miss it!
Yeah there we're loads of variations on the Top of the pops idea though, like Britpop now! and even to some extent Later with Jools Holland. I think it was also the fact that more and more bands in the late 90's couldnt really perform, lip sync and auto tuning software were so heavily relied upon. Thats why i wouldnt want to see most bands these days. I wish that TOTP's was back! I didnt catch it the first time around. :(
yes, manchester was the birthplace of great sex. oh thewisest1, wtf are you talking about? freedom? god's cop is about just how oppressive the police were in manchester during the 70's and 80's. and i don't think ryder was concerned with anyone's freedom but his own, what with his fantasies of being a pimp, smack dealer and girlfriend/wife-stealer. i love the mondays, jd, acr, fac. and i'm not having a go but don't buy into to all the bollox that goes with this great music.
sheer brilliance in a can brings back great memories of an ex girlfriend we both loved them the album pills thrills bellyaches was awesome xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
legend has it that Bez was actually playing both maracas live and not miming !!
