  • mesmerising.

  • Cool.

  • coś co kształtem przypomiona gitarę, gra się na tym jak na wiolonczeli, brzmi niczym skrzypce, ale jest extra 5/5

Please play My Heart Will Go On !

  • Wonderful! Thanks for sharing!

  • OK, Thanks for the information.

  • Cello strings are too heavy, and viola strings are too short. Try guitar strings of .012, .017 and .026W gauge for a 25" or so scale dulcimer.

  • Hello PHNick, I just finishing building a bowed dulcimer. And I wondering what type of strings you are using. Cello? Viola?

  • Extraordinary!!

  • Nic - you are a LEGEND! I'd never heard of this instrument before (even though I play Apallachian dulcimer) and the sound and the way you play it is just sublime - thank you.

  • i don't know why..but i started to cry like a baby when i listened to this! it was so beautiful!

  • Beautiful! Better than a violin!!

  • very pretty.

is you BD diatonic? it doesn't look chromatic.

    Ken Bloom built mine.

  • amazing i didnt even know dulcis came bowed and so now im oing to add this to tthe lisst of instruments i play

  • That was FANTASTIC! So beautiful ....... standing O. Thank you sir.

  • Simply Beautiful.

  • wah kaka! shu vagaadyu! simply sublime, calming to the senses and an instant stress-buster. the music reflects a certain sincerity an ingenuity of its player. great!thanks-regards from an Indian musician

  • Nic - always enjoy listening to you or Ken Bloom playing the instrument that you both keep building and moving forward with. Great job!

  • Thank you for sharing!!!

You touched my heart in a very particular day.

I wish You to walk in the hands of God.

    Grazie di cuore, Simona

  • Thats the most inspiring piece of music i have had the pleasure of hearing in a very long time! Thank you so much for sharing.

  • This is my introduction to the bowed dulcimer! What is the history of this instrument? I have been a "student" of Mtn Dulcimer for many years, never liked Sheebag Sheemore, This is how it should sound! Wonderful to hear it like this, Simple, mournful tones.

  • The instrument is not of the highest quality thats why it 's sound is not as it could be if more exotic woods were used.

Still its a nice piece of music and played well.

  • Nick Hambas made the dulcimer AND is playing now? Sorrowful and beautiful, kinda makes you glad to be human.

I'm just learning about dulcimers, but I suppose what makes it a dulcimer is number of strings and the 2 twinned strings? Thanks for a beautiful performance

  • The Bowed Dulcimer. The poor mans 'Viole de Gambe'! ;-)

I just wonder how much more tone could be created, if the belly of the instrument was shaped & carved like that of the Violin family?

  • beautiful. the piano is just distracting the dulcimer is so pure by itself.

  • so fare di meglio

  • Simply beautiful.

That is my favorite song to play on the dulcimer. I play the appalachian myself, but I have always wanted to try my hand at a bowed one.

  • you played beautifully

  • I wish I could play like that. Thank you for sharing it with us. It was absolutely beautiful!

  • Really, really beautiful.

  • The song felt pensive and almost mournful. Just excellent all around.

  • oh and I would also like to know if that is the typical bow hold for a dulcimer?I havent seen that many videos of the dulcimer and this is the first one of a bowed dulcimer. And the bow hold while not similar to the current bow hold fot the bass and cello IS similar to the german bow hold I believe it is called(most musicians dont use it anymore)

  • how lovely.its got the best range and quality of sound ive ever heard.so peaceful.I wonder why they dont incorperate it into typical orchestras?perhaps they dont want to make the other instruments feel bad.;)

  • What a lovely sound this dulcimer has! Really enjoyed the song!

  • Wonderful presentation. I hope to have a bowed psaltry one day. In the meantime, I will remember your wonderful playing and spirit. Thank you. Ginny Matheson-California

  • Great song but also played with authority

    and wonderful feeling. 5 etoiles

  • Beautiful!

  • Nice relaxing song!Thanks..yea u can bow a normal dulcimer remove the outer double string and then lower the outside strings by fileing the bridge down its much easier than violen and other orchestral stringed instruments because it has frets

  • You can learn to play the bowed dulcimer regardless of experience. Experience, however, helps. Lap dulcimers are not designed to be bowed, although it has been done.

  • Bowing A Lap ,, Thats something you Just don't see here on the States,

    Wonderful Sound you got

  • I would like to know can this bowing be done on any dulcimer? Also, do you need previous experience with the Violin or one of the other orchestral stringed instruments to do this?

  • wow, what a gift to be able to build and play so well!

  • Beautiful! Love the sound of a bowed dulcimer! Okay, I love the sound of all kinds of dulcimers!

  • Dear nick: You are the greatest!

  • Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing!
