  • the link its broken....please you can give me link to download all series ...please ! you are so goood..and thx 4tutorial

  • can you do one with the new version of blender please!!!

  • It's actually easier than I taught! :)

  • Amazing stuff - thanks for all your videos - my brother and I just watched all 28 of this series. Also like your coherent way of talking as it's rather rare these days!

  • nice slideshow

  • Comment removed

  • wTf?don't watch!!it doesn't help

  • who dislikes a tut? seriously people, seriously :P

  • @pureawesomeness2012 People that think it's a bad tut

  • @eltomato159 well, instead of disliking it, they could just try to understand what the guy is saying. or, even easier, they could just ignore the dislike button. i have seen many videos i disapprove of, but i have never clicked the dislike button, in hopes that

    1) (applies only to tuts) the guy makes better tuts in the future, so he wont be discouraged, or

    2) because i understand how hard it is to make a video in the first place.

  • @pureawesomeness2012 The Like/Dislike system is used to let others know if you think it's a good video or not so they know which video would be best to watch, I think it's fine if you don't like to dislike video's because you don't want to discourage them, that's your opinion, but if people don't like it they're completely free to dislike it. (Don't mean to seem like I'm trying to argue or anything btw, just responding to your comment)

  • no matter how hard I try my eye looks really really round... any tips? like even in the socket, the socket itself is round around the eye... know what I mean?

  • @AstralAbraxas Eyes are round

  • Your good at what you do, but one thing is clear. This really isn't a tutorial because your not explaining how to do things step by step. Instead your going through the video just doing the exercise, Even though it is not for beginners I think you still could do step by step and zooom in on things that are hard to see etc. I think you have what it takes to be a good tutorial instructor, just kind of talk us through each part please. :)

  • @Hyperspazzman you are aware that this tutorial is 2 years old? you should check out some of my newer stuff; either Johnny Blender 3, or go over to blendercookie(dot)com to see some more of my newer stuff :)

  • @ward7299 K I have but he hasn't. U r good and because of that I want game tut on how to make a cone try to kill a monkey.

  • @Hyperspazzman honestly I found it fairly easy to follow along and I'm a beginner.

  • I will tell you one thing this is not easy

  • never mind i got it.

  • there is this orange dot that centers the mirror. How do i move it?

  • thanks. When i go in to add a mirror modifier the mesh never goes in the right place. its either on top or intersecting the other image. How can i fix this?

  • how do you undo something? I tried hitting u and shift u. it doesnt work

  • @blakepeary "Ctrl + Z"

  • I usually use the REGION extrude whenever I start modeling the characters I want to do so hopefully that should work on this one too ^_^

  • joker: you wanna know how i got these scars?.....

  • Many thanks for making the time to share your skills.

Blender is one of many "Free" tools that allow you to see and modify the code and encourages you to share those changes with others.

some examples are Firefox, VLC, Pidgin, Voodoo.

If you are interested in the free software movement checkout fsf, org, apache.org bsd org, freedesktop org, the linux foundation. Don't be limited by the tools you use. Learn to code. Share what you know.

  • Thanks Dude

  • Check my channel for a face animation and modelled created in a professional way...that means; not made out of a cube but out multanimationiple planes. Please rate and subscribe! (I followed this guy too) :)

  • lol i clicke don it because it said beginners then it says this not for beginners, i wil watch it i have had a few days playing around i have got used to the interface, i know how to go to game mode , make cube move jump, i know how to use mirror sub so only us half the cude and other half done by blender.. i will watch and let u know :D

  • what version of Blender did you use for this tutorial?

  • So... quick question: would you be able to use Blender with a tablet? For moving/extruding things and such? Or is it just easier to use a mouse? :)

  • /watch?v=uHyon0gclOw

Best blender 3d human modeling tutorial!

  • it's a great video .. but ur whispering dude that was so annoying...!!! u had to raise ur voice.!!!

  • omg.. I've been watching theese videos and using them to make the "human".

And I just now found that your voice is really similar to oinision's voice.. allmost the same.. or is it really the same? ;D omg.. haha

But..the videos are greate.. really.. thank you.. But the voice.. ^^

  • Link Download Blender 2.56

    ziddu.com/download/14709383/blender-2.56-beta-windows32.exe.html

  • ur tutorials are great...and if people cant use blender you already said its not a tutorial for noobs

  • having problems following along cuz of all the lag

  • @A7xGiLLoA7x Totally agree. Imposible to follow.

  • shortcuts only work if you're on the right button... LOL

    awesome tutorial btw

  • sorry but that's why 3d highend program's are just better modelers this 20 mins tutorials goes over that the person trying to build a mesh around the eye I can build this in maya in 33 seconds.. also a modifire for just that :S.. if i press 3 in maya I can smooth the wholl object in a sec.. I am sorry but this is just basic stuff I like to program but it's so foolish that people think that Blender will ever gonna make it to hollywood.. great program for home use bad really bad modeler.

  • your a fucking idiot you dont know what your doing you suck at tutorials

  • How'd you rotate the eye?

  • wow, terrible tutorial...

  • @leopower7 dick, davids videos are awesome, and u are a perpetual virgin

  • Is it possible to create Mordecai from Regular Show??/ He might be complicated because he is a blue jay. Not realistic because he stand up like a human and is 6 feet tall. Is it possible I can make him though???

  • @bluehorse1214 du!!!

  • HOW DO I SET MIRROR ON THE X AXIS IN EDIT MODE

  • A little long and not as much explanation as I would have liked but cool. To all you people who say it sucks this isn't a beginner tutorial. You should learn the basics of blender and keyboard shortcuts before you watch it in detail

  • you hardly explain anything you do

  • hmm the 2nd time you extrude is a mystery to me. you werent even talking about what you did?? around 6:00 i think your tutorial is great, but if you want an honest opinion, be more audible. it seems like some of the directions you kind of mumble under your breath so Its either hard to hear what you say or i just think its unimportant. much respect though and thank you really.

  • i cant figure out why planes wont work.

  • for an example of an intelligently designed interface, see Google's Sketch Up. I used that crap to model a 3d house with NO 3D MODELLING EXPERIENCE (EVER) and I never once looked at any help files or documentation.

    Blender just pisses me off.

  • But does it blend?

  • i guess you didn't pay much attention to my other comment. *sigh* never mind. now, to business! help me please i can't get the planes outta my Eye ball.

  • i have a little thing going on in my blender atm. ive made a cylinder shape with a edit on top of it to make it look like a bracer. but when i try to add another cube or any other shape.. i cant see it. evan when i move the shape i made over its still not showing after i add another cube mesh.. what am i doing wrong? :)

  • how did u rotate the eye ball sorry im just a biginner

  • You make it look very easy.

  • hey when i add the mirror modifier it doesnt have that space between them. how can i fix this?

  • i dont want it!

  • Just a thought dude, if you want me to dish out 18 bucks to buy your dvd, you might wanna buy a mic that records in a decent quality. Like, the mic you got is okay for youtube, but I definitely wouldn't pay money to listen to it.

  • thanks man, hat helped a llot,

  • when i try to extrude the edges, it becomes 3d, not a surface,

    what do i do ?

  • @TheGoldenlegend1 im having the same issue. It's not filling in the surfaces, just laying the edge point where I click. So its just a line with a dot at the end. Help please

  • @XxRoHxXGT444

when you click "E", be sure to select edges only, not vartices.

  • @TheGoldenlegend1 Yep, that fixed it, thanks man! Major Help

  • hi ive been trying to use blender for some time now... but whenever i try IT LAGSS LIKE HEELLL....i have a new computer with an i5 i believe 1 gig nividea and 1 tb memory with aboutt 6 gb ram... i know its not the computer so can it b something wrong with the program??? the fps goes donw to .067 so yaa...

  • im a beginner i can under stand -.-

  • Wtf are you doing with the eye? i dont get it and its very hard to keep up

  • bad quality video =\ hard to see what's going on some of the times.

  • If we're advanced of intermediate blender users, then why would we need a tutorial? The people who watch tutorials are obviously mostly beginners...

  • @halflifefan84 this logic is flawless

  • @AlexWoahWTF :)

  • @Josepablo24

I am about the same (14) but I thought the video was a tad laggy

  • You you didn't explain how you made sphere smooth for example, a lot of the stuff you did you did not say you where doing it, making it hard to follow.

  • @AskewTarantula

That was a subsurf Modifier, you can find it in the buttons context. but yer i agree with you, but more to the speed he models, i find it too hard to copy what he does, like the rotation of the original plane that makes it fit the eye so well. but maybe thats because im too new to the program :D Still good tutorial and modelling skills for those who can keep up :D

  • i'm new to blender and i learned alot from this vid, thanks for posting and i intend to watch the whole series. though making this actually took alot longer than 20 mins

  • YOU DONT EXPLAIN EVERYTHING YOUR DOING!

  • you annoy me but i need this so m fucked :(

  • I NEED HELP PLEASE

I cant rotate it like yours it rotate all the figure not only one mirror

please tell me how to fix this

    thanks

  • <3 YOU SO MUCH!!!! i want to get into blender so hard but it seemed impossible xP im going to read some blender guide named "From noob to pro" in wikibooks and after understanding blender i will get to watch all your blend vids

i just got heavily interested in animation as a career so this is just awesome. Im 15 (and skilled with anything that has to do with a pc xD) so i dont know if that would help me or counter my learning, lol. comments?

  • "Please note: This series is not for beginners. It is geared toward intermediate to advanced users. If you´re no familiar with the user interface you may have problems following along" FUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!

  • @DaniEsteiro

I think he has older videos which go over the interface, but I would not bother since he is using an older version of blender here. Go to blendercookie to get new tuts on the new blender. This guy does work for them as well.

  • @DaniEsteiro

    lol, dude, same here

  • 3ds max is easier and better , with perfect rendering (Mentalray , Vray) ...and i can download it for free (isohunt.com) ..

Now what is the good at blender?

  • @mohanidzhd Blender is not just free it is open source software. The goal of the open source software movement is that one day have all software will be open source, and have most of it free. You pirate software so it's clear you want software to be free. Supporting open source like Blender3D, MyPaint, Gimp , FireFox, and 100's of other software brings us one step closer. I support Linux , the GPLv3 , and people like Richard Stallman that are trying change the world.

  • @maw88ify why would i use blender3d source ... There's Maxscript in 3ds max you can make your own plug-ins,,,, big open source software's is hard to edit ... its thousands of lines ! ... and max script is much easier then Python

blender and gimp is good ... but why i would use it if i already have 3ds max and photoshop ?

  • @mohanidzhd Python is also used in Maya3D one of the most use 3D software in the world. Blender 3D has built in game engine, Fluid Simulator , and great particles. If 3DS Max you would have to pay 700 dollars or more for each plug-in. Pirating is fine if you're just playing around with software at home for fun, but NOT something you want to do if you are starting a small business. Have you seen the short film called " Sintel " that was made all in Blender it is amazing . OR "Chaos & Evolutions"

  • @maw88ify pirate 3ds max is better then blender .. 3ds max is easy to gain experiences ... but blender you need atleast 8-10month's to gain the Adventure skill's !

  • @mohanidzhd 3DS Max is easy for new 3D animators mostly because it has ton of modifiers, but if you are already skilled at 3D than Blender shouldn't take more than a week to learn the basics . I think Maya3D is harder to learn than Blender, but Maya is what Pixar uses. Maya 3D is used way more than 3DS Max. Blender takes a more skilled animator to uses, because it doesn't have a long list of modifiers to simplify the animation process . As I said you should start a company with pirated software.

  • @maw88ify maybe you are true ... but blender is hard to start .. and there's no tutorial's for it !

  • @maw88ify Its a good concept and i suport it. Its kinda an odd thing to say but i'd rather pay for something thats free. Its kinda like a gift from the art community and its only right that once you can, you should give a gift back. Me and my freinds are makeing a video game useing all free legal software, and one day i hope i can return the favor to everyone that helped make it possible.

  • @maw88ify If the open source software community wants user support, it really ought to start supporting users.... with clear, coherent and concise documentation and intelligently designed, intuitive interfaces. Blender is known for spotty documentation and a *@#$@!@ confusing interface. So's Linux. So's ....well, most open source software.

    Most. Not all.

  • Would you please EXPLAIN some of this?!

  • @jag9998

this isnt for beginners. its just the beginning to a model. blender website has tutorials up. just google it or somethin :D

  • how do you rotate a perfect 90?

  • @MANIF3STtv press "R" for rotate and just type "90" or "-90" depending on your rotation

  • Im making the switch from cartooning to 3d animation and this was by far the best tutorial for Blender I have since. But if your a beginner you might get confused (as I did at first lol). But once you get the basics and the lingo, your good to go!

  • how do u get urs looking so shiny mine doesnt what so ever

  • Awesome Tutorial. This is pure artistry. Pay close attention and you'll learn how the pros do it. With a lot of patience and practice, you can as well.

  • what's this black square?

  • u mention "do clipping" near the end how do u turn it on?

  • This is the best Bender Tut, ever found in Youtube! Although the qulity is not the best, you can follow ward7299 without any problems. Thanks for that Tut...

  • THIS VIDEO TUTORIAL IS GREAT ;)

  • can after effects support models from this software????

  • i am here to copy your technique.....SHARINGAN!!!!

  • It takes someone who is good at this 20 minutes to make a decent looking eye. It would take someone like me let's count..., forever =)

    you do awsome ;)

  • @ward2799 just a quick question how did you make the eyeball round like that? mines looks like crap!!!!!

  • Find myself always coming back to this series and Johny Blender 2.0 series. Working on my muscle memory and my confidence but watching you work is inspiring you just have this workflow down to an art in of itself.

  • Thanks for the tutorials but I wish you would have went into better detail on what you were doing. For example when you created the sphere and rotated it 90 degree you didnt say how you rotated it 90 degree and alot of things you did I couldnt figure out how you were doing it. But anyway thanks.

  • Hey ward7299. Great tutorial. One question though..

If I create a model in a blank .blend file, how do I copy that model to another project i'm working on, like a game. You can't simply copy and paste can you? Basically what I am asking is, is there an way to add something you've made in it's own .blend file to another .blend file.

    Thanks :)

  • very good tut. I finally feel i have a chance at human modeling.

  • how to select every thing

  • @AsiaNecole123 'A' key

  • the Noob to Pro wikibook tutorial is the best tutorial ive come across for this. its not a video tho =s

  • How do you insert a shape?

  • I love how you talk to yourself :D

    Thanks for the tut

  • Dont worry everybody he start with 001 for the first so, got to have at least 999 part XD lol just kidding

  • I'm sure this'd be way easier to understand if it wasn't 1 frame per second.

  • @frajeff91 This is easy to understand, maybe you're just slow

  • One thing though, I've seen another tutorial where they used only the sculpting tool, would that be a better way than this, or just as good? I feel like this would be better in the long run when it comes to rigging, but would it?

  • @blackdragonati

I understood the tutorial fine, and I'm pretty much completely new to the program. I have, however, taken time to learn the interface, which surprises me that it is something most people aren't doing. like he said, if you don't know the interface you won't be able to follow the tut.

  • How do you rotate it 90 degrees?

  • @HumanGuitarTV1 thw way i do it is selecting one of the rings in rotation manipulator mode and then just typing 90.

  • @Tallrascha Thank you!

  • isnt there the option of cutting modeling like in 3ds max. In max, i dont model with boxes or spheres nor i create a plane and then extruding them. I use my create line tool to create lines in front view and then converting them into poly to have polys, then i attach all and weld, then i start cutting new edges to define my form and moving verts around to give depth. Can we do this in blender? Model from "create line" and cut?

  • What's the use of the subsuf modifier?

Does it transfer if, say, I export it into a game engine?

  • Video quality is poor and so is explaining

  • I get it all so far, but what is the black square that comes up near near where he clicks? I know it isn't the plane he added, what is it?

  • HaHA you said head

  • You lost me at 00:35

  • Too much mumbling to yourself. Otherwise, great toot.

  • Man this was awesomely helpful, thanks. Only question is, when I've mirror'd stuff in the past it ended up messing stuff up when I wanted to put in a skeleton. Would you only mirror the head or is there a way to use armatures without messing your stuff up?

  • How do you make a spiral horn like on a demon or a ram? i would love to see a tutorial for that. great job though. This was very helpful.

  • It would be helpful if you showed how you were doing this. A beginner such as myself may not know the hotkey for rotating 90 degrees for example. I will have to learn blender then return to your videos, they seem like they would be useful for someone who knows their way around blender already.

  • how can you even do it without any model? is it just pure imagination? ur good

  • wow, i think i am going to get back in to 3d.. modeling looks so much easier now than it was 10 years ago

  • This doesn't really help someone who say...downloaded this 5 seconds ago. I dunno how to change to that view, how to do that drop-down thing to create a sphere (Right-Click dun work), or how to do anything else on it. I guess its okay?

  • @moneymusic22

The best thing to do with blender is find a tutorial on the interface and helpful buttons first. Rotate view with middle mouse (push roller down and move your mouse), right click to select objects, "B" to box select multiple points. Space bar to add things (armatures, meshes, etc). "E" to extrude.

Those are a few of the good buttons, hope this helps (since you posted a week ago you probably already know this... but maybe it will help someone else too)

  • i have no idea how your shaping things

  • To people complaining about lack of explanation:

This isn't a beginner tutorial. ward7299 presumably created these tutorials with the notion that its viewers would have a basic grasp of the Blender interface and manipulation. Don't fret, though. There are plenty of beginner tutorials on YouTube. Whatch these first, and this tutorial should begin to make sense.

  • i can't merge well !!!!!!!!!!!

  • when ever i click mirror the mirror appears right on top of the face i am mirroring. do you know how to move this or fix it?

  • @TheEmersion1 da same is the problem wid me...did u figure it out??..if yes den pls help me dude... ;)

  • wen i abb my mirror modifier they are sticken together not like urs seperated pls help

  • That should be cool if had subtitles in english

I cant understand by hear but I can read =(

  • no offence. but this tutorial is completely usless. ur very good. but u dont explain nothing. u tell us what to do. but u dont tell us HOW. to do it

  • @bbbmx1 thats why it says in the begining not for beginners you should already know how to do it

  • @dylloop no. ur an idiot. if u already knew how to do it u wouldnt be watching a tutorial for it. go grow a brain. tutorials are sposed to explain how to do things..

  • @bbbmx1 I meant you need to know all the basics. He teaches you how to make a character from scratch I didnt even know where to begin before.

  • @dylloop :33 ohh okay XD. still. he should explain a bit better..

  • urghh...i hate this..>..> dont be too fast..i cant catch ya!

  • for me dude you dont explain it properly, i dont have a clue even how to rotate

  • @Runescape01Sara r is the hotkey for rotating

  • @Runescape01Sara then you should go to basics… this is not made for begginers (even though i am one) you should learn the basics first.

  • @Runescape01Sara dude he sayd: that tutorial is for who knows the basics like: scale, rotate, grab, edit mode, object mode that kind of stuffs

sorry by poor inglish I'm from Brazil

  • @Runescape01Sara have what you want to rotate selected and press, "R"

  • @Runescape01Sara just press "R" on the keyboard

  • @Runescape01Sara simply press the R key to rotate after you have the object selected.

  • @Runescape01Sara thats y its amimed a more expierianced blender users you select the objest then press R X 90

  • @Runescape01Sara

Because this is a advanced topic, try reading a tutorial before this.

  • @Runescape01Sara 'R' key

  • @Runescape01Sara You mus have a basic Blender interface knowledge... As the video says, is not for begginers... just read the boxes that appear at the beggining

  • @Runescape01Sara it depends on which view you are selected on, and to rotate, press "R"

  • @Runescape01Sara : If you can't understand the tutorial you don't have enough basics in blender.

I am a beginner - I was able to make this with a bit of pausing/rewinding...my eye looks pretty much like his and I find his instructions are good. I also know how to use google for things I don't understand.

Don't complain if you don't know what your doing

  • @Runescape01Sara find the rotate tool and figure out what color/colour goes wich way thats how i found out

  • @Runescape01Sara alt left mouse

  • you are the cgtuts guy?

  • Can you please explain the process at 5:54 ? lol I cannot figure how you are filling in the eye socket. And thanks, this is a great tutorial!

  • OK, this is the easiest modeling tutorial ive seen, but its the best ive seen in a long while. Other techniques are so... hard to follow. Some build the body from a block, and that needs a really good eye for details, this focuses on singular objects of interests, in plural, and then puts them together to make the model you want... thats what ive at least concluded, by just looking at the first part...

  • Dude you are seriously skilled. You should make complete videogames. I'd be your first buyer

  • Hello! Thanks for this tutorial but i have 1 problem. When I press F (to make a face) It gives me the following options. 1. Auto 2.Make Fgon 3.Clear Fgon 4. Skin faces Edge loops. None of them work. Thanks for the help!
