@TheNubianTwist Really? The way understood it was that dub was not actually it's own genre but a term applying any sort of electronic music without vocals. But I'm not too well educated in this area anyway.
@ThisIsAnAccountUKnow "Dub is a genre of music which grew out of reggae music in the 1960s, and is commonly considered a subgenre, though it has developed to extend beyond the scope of reggae."
I know, i know, most humans prefer to categorize things in neat little boxes, but for heavens sake, dubstep is not the ONLY kind of electro/house/ambient/progressive music out there. perhaps ya'll should educate your ears and you will be able to hear the evolution of this kind of sound, which, is NOT from dubstep.
I dont understand why there isnt loads more chill dubstep out there, there is an audience who want it but dubstep producers think that it is all about how dirty/filthy the song is. Maybe i wanna chill with a spliff and let bass waves wash over me as oppesed to feeling violated with this 'grimey' dubstep.
@XGodOfDeathX I couldn't agree more. I prefer the more laid-back atmospheric dubstep such as this song. In my mind it's truer to the roots of dub reggae, which dubstep adopted the production aesthetics from. Deep spacious atmospheres with dripping wet reverbs are what dubstep is all about to me.
soooooo true! filthyness is what sells because it is what gets party people goin on raves. unfortunetly we'll have to stay listening to producers such as Mala and Kryptic Minds and wait for the future to bring us some ''bass waves'' to wash ourselves with
@XGodOfDeathX : Exactly! You can notice the lack of openmindedness people have for dubstep. They get mad if it isn't the same as the last song. This song is Dubstep Harmony to my ears.
@XGodOfDeathX There's tons of it out there, however, there's a lot of love for the "grimy" lot of stuff which pushes the discussion on forums about chill dubstep back to the backend, keeping it from being front forth. As such you gotta dig a bit ;)
@XGodOfDeathX Maybe you don't know what you're talking about and the producers who add that filth element add that filth element because maybe they enjoy the way it sounds. PPPPSSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
Tooooo true! As a rule I don't really like dubstep, because like you said, it's too fuckin' filthy. But this is beyond gorgeous. MORE PLEASE! anyone know any similar-vibe dubstep tunes to this?
@konbonkon i think its great! so do 473+ other people.. write your negative opinion somewhere else good sir.. your ruining my great vibe by posting such an ignorant comment =] if you don't like the song, than move on to something else. maybe some more 16 bit? skism-the blank remix? put some positive in your life!
@agoins42 So you think people should only post positive comments?? I don't understand why you couldn't be negative about something that you don't like.
I found this video when I was watching some other videos of Joanna and I just think you shouldn't make a remix of her songs. And I was just surprised that there were so many people who like this video as I thought that all these people, just like me, would love the original Newsom songs.
I don't think it's THAT awful, but it's pretty damn bad, and you have every right to post any opinion you like on here, as long as it's not libelous or inciting murder!
People who like this are likely the same types who think 'Citizen Kane' would be vastly improved by re-mixing in SurroundSound and full color, and re-edited by Tony Scott or Michal Bay.
There are two songs occurring here, in a single phenomenon.
One song which appeals to the superficial senses represented by the higher frequency ranges, in which the vocals highlight the simplified thoughts of an individual. The other is simultaneously representing the deeper thoughts and feelings, which is personified by the lower frequency ranges.
