People say that Jeff choked in the final 5 races. First, Jimmie won four of them. Second, Jeff finished 3rd, 7th, 7th, and 10th in those 4 races. He finished the season with 11 finishes of 11th or better, and yet people say he choked. I never knew clinching the title with 2 races left under the old system classified as a choke.
I remember watching this finish live on TV. My dad said Jimmie was gonna go to victory lane when I asked him who he thought was gonna win with about 2 to go. I stuck with my driver. Final lap, amazing move by Jeff and won. Told my dad after the race, "I told ya Jeff could do it!"
Too bad a finish like this will never happen again if the two car draft keeps up... Perfect example of why the old racing is better racing.... GO JG24!!

I was at this race. Man was that awesome! I was real worried when he went a lap down. Just goes to show. You never know what is going to happen at these races.
Good job Gordon. Masterclass. Jimmie is basically a drone operated by Chad Knauss, completely devoid of personality. All of his championships have huge asterisks next to them due to the chase system. espn sucks and these commentator's were freaking horrible. They missed Gordon's awesome pass for the lead and announced Jimmie finishing second at the line instead of screaming that Gordon won the race somehow.
I think this is the most exciting win I've ever seen out of Jeff Gordon. This was the only time I ever saw Jeff win with a last lap pass. Jeff doesn't seem to be one who wins very often on a last lap pass.

Anyway, it looks a hell of a lot better than the Honda Civic look-a-likes that most people refer to as the Car of Yesterday. The brackets on the nose are gone, most of the splitter is car, and all 4 manufacturers have a different nose.
Hard to believe this is the last time Jeff won a plate track race. He had a good car in the 2008 Daytona 500, and he ended up having mechanical issues. Had a good car at 'Dega a few weeks later, and gets dished out. Good car coming back to Daytona, and gets wrecked. Then in '09, Jeff just had no luck on the plate tracks. Jeff had a good car at Spring 'Dega this year, and gets wrecked. Then has a good car at Daytona, and gets passed again.

We need to see wins like this for the rest of the season. Jeff should've won SO many races this year. It's not even funny that he's been getting robbed so many times this year. He's had cars to beat, but has never sealed the deal. I mean, it's been all luck and poor calls. Vegas, Martinsville, Pheonix, Texas, Possibly Talladega, Richmond, Darlington, and Daytona. Also Jeff Gordon won those championships while a guy named Dale Earnhardt was racing and he is one of the best. Jimmie Johnson only deserves one championship and that was this championship because he won the last four races, cant argue with that, with the old system he would only have one.

@MacGovernor i think you are forgetting the 84 wins that jeff gordon has accumulated as opposed to jimmies 52. jeff gordon was the only driver to get to 50 wins faster than jimmie. you can also argue that jeff would have 6 titles if not for the invention of the chase. not to mention the fact that jimmie came into hendricks after it had become a super team. jeff gordon made it the super team. without jeff, jimmie would not have the quality of equipment that he does.

Good job Gordon. Masterclass. Jimmie is basically a drone operated by Chad Knauss, completely devoid of personality. All of his championships have huge asterisks next to them due to the chase system. I think this is the most exciting win I've ever seen out of Jeff Gordon. This was the only time I ever saw Jeff win with a last lap pass. Jeff doesn't seem to be one who wins very often on a last lap pass.

@gt3corn the 2011 COT looks awesome actually. It's a shame most people haven't seen it yet. Anyway, it looks a hell of a lot better than the Honda Civic look-a-likes that most people refer to as the Car of Yesterday. The brackets on the nose are gone, most of the splitter is car, and all 4 manufacturers have a different nose.

Hard to believe this is the last time Jeff won a plate track race. He had a good car in the 2008 Daytona 500, and he ended up having mechanical issues. Had a good car at 'Dega a few weeks later, and gets dished out. Good car coming back to Daytona, and gets wrecked. Then in '09, Jeff just had no luck on the plate tracks. Jeff had a good car at Spring 'Dega this year, and gets wrecked. Then has a good car at Daytona, and gets passed again.

I was the lucky fan that won the Pepsi Contest that designed the paint scheme on the #24 Pepsi car for this race - I was standing in Jeff's pit watching and when they took the white flag I thought for certain that Jeff would be second to JJ and couldn't believe it when he went high and passed JJ with that shot from Stewart. 2008-0 wins, 2009-1 win, 2010 isn't over yet, but it's looking likely to end up another winless year.
There was a time, not long ago, when Jeff winning anything less that a couple of races a season, would have been unthinkable .

We need to see wins like this for the rest of the season. Jeff should've won SO many races this year. It's not even funny that he's been getting robbed so many times this year. He's had cars to beat, but has never sealed the deal. I mean, it's been all luck and poor calls. Vegas, Martinsville, Pheonix, Texas, Possibly Talladega, Richmond, Darlington, and Daytona. That's 8 races Jeff should've won this year. Steve Letarte needs to figure something out fast if the #24's gonna be a chase factor.

I am a Gordon fan since I was 7 years old. Jeff Gordon has SIX championships, no matter what. Jayski's silly season website said that he has six-time for the most earned points per a season. Petty and Earnhardt has seven. Therefore, Jeff Gordon has SIX championships!
