would you buy this for $50.00 i mean is it worth at least that.? i mean knowing that is being more than 2 years that they came up with this. and knowing that they have improve so much in other total gyms. plz reply. thnks
I am thinking about purchasing this home gym. I am 511 265lb guy who wants to loss weight and get in shape. Would this home gym support or work with a big guy like myself??
Mines about 4 years old. The plastic handle chipped and had to be replaced a couple weeks ago. I used PVS, some rope and made the loops about 6-8 inches longer. Works MUCH MUCH better now and the foam BMX bike handle grips I used are much better as well.
Only other wear is the roller pad. The top corners have split but again, I'll just upholster it and make it better than the original material.
Overall, killer machine...apart from the occasional wobble lol.
Its not a project to fold and unfold. I do it every single time I use it and it takes all of 30 seconds for me to set it up. Very useful piece of equipment. At 1st I was nto sure how much of a workout it would really give me since Im an advanced wieght lifter but the total body is more than enough to get a challenging and well rounded workout. A must have for someone with a busy schedual
Boooring... You've had it for 2.5 months, and you've used it 30 minutes max every other day? How fat are you? It would definitely be unsteady if you are obese. I've had it for 3 months and have been using it every other day for an hour and a half. I fold it up and put it away and then take it out and fold it back out every time I use it. It's not a hassle, it's a workout.
I am looking for a slant board specifically for decline sit ups--- do you recomend this machine ? If it works as good as a simple slant board I would get it for the added workout benefits, but that is my main concern.
I bought this from the Walmart website in January 2005 and used it religiously for about a month then gradually I stopped using it. It's been sitting in the back yard folded up for a few years now collecting dust and spider webs.
When you are using this in a cement floor it doesn't wobble like it does on your carpet. I guess if you use it on hardwood (with cardboard)it won't wobble much. It is a nice piece of machinery though.
Can you answer my question about the slant board issue? I began looking for a slant board (decline) for sit ups, but could use the whole package if this will work as a slant board as well.
I bought one. It is a good machine. I am 6 feet tall. The pulleys cut into the top of the sled covering so had to put some L braces from the hardware store there. Most exercise equipment is made for average body height. I tried positioning myself so the pulleys wouldn't cut into the fabric, but to do full range motion from any location on the sled will cause the pulleys to cut into the fabric.
I just ordered it online and I hope it is as good as all the reviews say it is! I know its no Bowflex but i really hope i get some good muscular improvements off of it.
I can't say that I do Oblique twists but I do know for a few exercises if I'm not wearing shorts made of the right material I can't stay in place. Have you tried lying upside down in a decline position with your feet secured at the top and trying situps? That's a killer lower body work out and you can add twists!
No, Actually I can't do that. I have a herniated disk(L5) & a slight scolisis (same area) so actual situps would just about kill me. I love my TBW because it lets me get a workout without hurting myself.
As far as the sliding down the platform issue, I've even tried exercising naked, thinking i'd stick to the vinyl. Nope. still slide down LOL
I keep sliding off the bench when I try to do Oblique twists. Other than that I love it. I dont use it as often as I should but I have seen positive changes to my body. Is there a similar product for the lower body?
The wheel quit spinning on mine. It came with a tiny dent on the wheel, which went unoticed (it was sliding, not turning, so no wobble or anything) until it started making this horrible screaching noise, now the dent in the wheel pretty deep, I'm going to contact Weider about a replacement. Just thought you would like to know.
I ordered one of these the other day, waiting for it to be delivered, thanx for making a follow up vid so I know what the thing would do after a couple months of use. Do you think this better than the Total Gym? I went with this because of price, but from what I can see, there is not much difference, right? I think the Total looks a little more stable though...
I have honestly never used the Total Gym or seen one in person. I have no complaints about the durability of the Bodyworks and I'm not at around the 5 month mark of using it about 2 times a week for around 45 minutes. A few things I have noticed is that the bungees do start wear out a little. I think the only real advantage to the total gym might be a slight increase in stability and I have read about models that you can add weight plates to to increase resistance.
The bungies do provide resistance, and it's actually a pretty good system. My only concern would be the longevity of the bungies, they appear to not be replaceable.
can u lose a lot of weight on this im 200 pounds and 5 10 is it good for me

Don't know much about this piece of equipment or its price, but I would highly recommend the Total Trainer range of glide/slide board exercisers.
Most people rate the Total Trainer over the Total gym (Chuck Norris), on quality and price.......in the lower price range basic models.

Yes because this inclines/declines in any position you need it to be. You can be as high or as low as you need to be to do sit ups.

good video, I bought a total gym an love it. Thinking about grabbing a Total Body Works for the tension control.
Does the bungies give you pretty good resistance?
