This is way off.....no one has ever given everything up for Jesus, no one has ever repented "enough" of your sins because no one does it perfectly. Not one. It has to be all Gods work to save you or it just doesn't make sense and leads to a mind prison because you can never know if you're saved. it's not just about denying yourself of luxurious things, TRUST ME...the holy spirit lets me know what I need to let go and it's tough...it's whatever you pleasure yourself with that takes away your attention from God...I'm convicted, I've given up so many things but some are tough to let go...I've asked God to braek me so many times but I now know I just need to do it and ask the Lord for strength. I love Tim's theology and all and I don't mean to criticise him for the sake of critism, but I don't think he really answered the question of "what does it mean to deny yourself and take up your cross?and deny yourself what?" I watched this in hopes of getting the answer but the question still remains, what does it mean to deny yourself and take up your cross daily? Is giving up all that I have, denying myself?

@HDell1994 It means that you deny yourself the things that you want to do with your life if your desires are not in line with God's word. It is not saying that you have to give away ALL of your wealth, but if you have a desire to open a liquor store when the bible says that a drunkard will not inherit the kingdom of God, you have not denied yourself and your dreams in order to take up your cross, which also means to do what God would have you to do with your life.

@HDell1994 Whatever we have a desire to do in life, it can not be something that will invite people to sin. Opening a strip club is not taking up your cross and denying yourself. Opening a church that tells people that they are okay living any way that they want to live, including being an atheist, because God only wants us to love, is not denying ourselves. It will make us rich, like Joel Osteen, but it is not taking up our cross...

I think he brings up some really good points in his theology, but sometimes, he either doesn't answer the question or preaches a message that comes a bit too close to legalism.  But then again, I'm Missouri Synod Lutheran, and so our doctrine is significantly different from the theology that Conway teaches.

Is it this easy? Add also in denying yourself - depending on God for everything in a continuining conversation and knowing that you need Him in relationships,work, everyday affairs. If you submit and heartedly plead for His grace, His presence will be provided, and you can thank Him,give back in sacrafice, for making good happen. When you fail, confess sin, don't stay discouraged, and realize you should earnestly stay dependent. Let's not leave God alone. Plainly and frankly ask of Him.
