I'm not sure if they're gonna do a second season. Elfen Lied didn't end oddly or anything.
They did a 13th episode which was an OVA about the little one (Nana I think....things escape my mind) That did pretty well at explaining what is going on after the series. If I find out any info on if they are doing a second season, I'll let you know.
