  • Trem? what tremlo you use?

  • @DynamicJDUB99

Its a Les Trem which mounts without modification to the guitar.

  • Great job! You can also get great kits at lpguitarkit and add the dot com!

  • Dude, nice job!!! Did you have any problems with this kit?

  • @TheDeScore

Sanding and Painting takes a lot effort but there is a lot of tutorials in web that helps.

  • @Magiamusical it took you three months? which part was the longest, the paint?

  • Dude! I am a believer of the pickups make the man. But your chops are very good. Fun vid!

  • dude you'll make a piece of your fence wood with pickups nailed to it sound good!!! very very nice, clean and smooth playing. a job well done sir

  • WOW!!, NICE PLAYING, THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO!!!, DID YOU PUT THE OVERWOUND GOLDEN AGE ON IT? OR JUST THE REGULAR ONES?. AGAIN YOUR GUITAR SOUNDS AWSOME!!!

  • @jirafavilla

    Regular Ones,

  • whoa man...awsm playing....

I have 1 question man...how good are the stock pickups? Im gonna replace them with Dirty Fingers:) hows that idea.? first time in guitar kits,,,help pls

  • @saby8765

The original pickups are cheap but they do the job, My suggestion use the original and see if you like the action, the feel of the guitar and then decide if you want to replace the pickups.

  • Are those the pickups that came with the kit? Ive heard several ppl replaced the kit pups with Seymore Duncans... Which if Slash likes them thats ok by me...=)!?

  • @leedoxev

No, I used Golden Age Pickups,

  • Woah, that trem comes with the kit?

  • @Motopsycho96

No, the trem is an aftermaket trem call LesTrem

  • how do they compare size wise to an actual?- i count 22 frets, but i could be wrong..and are they jumbo?

  • hey what are the best strings for a electric guitar ??cause i have used like 3 or 4 crap brands and they all suck what do you use??

  • @ShotQuick i love ernie ball 10 gauge regular slinky (purplepackaging?)

  • Sounds fine to me!!!!!!

  • @Django5198

I use Elixir nanoweb because they resist rust and sound nice.

  • Personally, I would have gloss-blacked the headstock. With the black trim on the body it looks like you took the blond neck off of another guitar and put it on that one. That said....You did a great job! Sounds awesome! great tone and I love the blue color.

  • looks a little small.

  • @sparks158 that's what she said!

  • Really tempted to order one of these kits from eBay and load some EMGs in it.

  • Nice, I think it need a white pick guard though.

  • nice paint job! How or who did it?

  • @Joseph1Krautheim

I did myself referencing projectguitar com for painting instructions

  • Scorps Rule!!. Guitar looks nice too!!

  • When you installed the new pickups did you have to get new wiring? Because you don't have to solder the stock ones in? Plus I've seen one video where the guy bought a new wiring kit so I was wondering

  • @SizzBetterLuck09

I did my own wiring and replaced the potentiometers with some that I had.

  • what kind of pickups are they?

  • @ampman9

Golden Age Pickups from Steward Mcdonald

  • Comment removed

  • What color did you use on that? And where could I buy the paint?

  • @tharrington11

Blue Duplicolor Car Paint from Pet Boys, I used the one that is for spray guns but its also available in spray cans.

  • does the trem come with the kit or did you get it separately

    and if so

    where from?

  • @gingerkid286 - The trem is from Steward Mcdonald - search for Les Trem

  • sounds good--you didn't use electronics of kit did you?

  • @micmoable I didn't used the electronics from the kit but I did tested them and they are low quality but they work ok. I used pots and pickups from Steward Mcdonald.

  • @Magiamusical Don't blame you--STU MAC has some good stuff but there are some places that sell components a little cheaper---at least my buddy says so

  • are those the stock pickups? (planning on buying the kit)

  • @sartaajhussain

No, they are Golden Age Pickups

  • neat playing! B side of wind of change, right?

  • i dont know why that comment was posted twice, that was wierd, but sorry for all the questions. but is the body made of mahogany? or dont you know.

  • @belkeSMASH From the kits I've seen, the body's are made of Basswood

  • Comment removed

  • how did you fit it with different pickups when the electronics all snap together w/o saudering? :o

  • @belkeSMASH

I didn't use any of the electronics included with the kit, I soldered all the wiring and pots.

  • @belkeSMASH - Didn't use the electronics included in the kit. I did the wiring and soldering of the new components.

  • Turned out well, sounds good.

  • were did you get the trem? and dose it do do pulls and dips? i am getting a different les paul kit and i want to put some sort of trem on it

  • It only does dips but no dive bombs, you can get it at Steward McDonald

  • did that come w/ a whammy capable bridge or did you install one?

  • @iBanez7rocker

No, the tremolo was added later, it's Les Trem which requires no modification to any Les Paul type bridge.

  • Did you replace the pickups or are those the pickups that came with the kit?

  • @Deep40000

Those are Steward McDonald Golden Age P

    pickups

  • Do u reckon its worth buying?

    And are the pickups good?

  • For the price it's a good buy. The pickups are not that good but they are acceptable. Because hey low output the have minimal noise and no hum.

  • ok cool thanks :D

  • does that trem changes the pitch in both ways?

  • Only down, just like a Bigsby

  • hey how did u cut the headstock, did u use a CNC? or just a saw...

  • I used a Hack saw.

  • Steward Macdonald GoldenAge Humbuckers

  • sounds and looks great. nice playing!

  • what type of whammy bar is that?

  • Les trem from Steward Mcdonald

  • @Magiamusical ok thanks!

  • good job on the guitar you make it look like it cost 10 times more than it actully is !! props.

  • wer the original pickups decent sounding

  • They are ok, not great but as you say decent.

  • I want to get one of these kits- but I would want to get a better neck, from stewmac. Is it worth it, or is the stock kit neck ok?

  • are those the pick ups that come with the kit?

  • No they are Steward Macdonald GoldenAge Humbuckers

  • Cant get over the tone on those stock pups made in China...not bad!!!

  • How did you get the tremolo arm thing?!

  • Steward MacDonald Les Trem Stop-Tailpiece Tremolo

  • kl thx, looking up now.

  • What kind of tremolo does that use?

  • This song is harder too play than I thought lol!!!

  • The only thing i dont like is that they put a whammy on a les paul, thats just not right, its kool, but not right. It takes off the real look, and aso to make it look more authentic, u should paint the headstock and back off neck, then put a Gibson logo and clear coat it.

  • Why would you put a Gibson logo on a guitar you made yourself!?

  • because it makes it look like an authentic Gibson, typically ppl take a kit guitar and model it to look like a real Gibson, or watevr type of guitar it is, so u put the Gibson logo on it.

  • In my opinion that would defy the point of making the guitar in the first place.

It would look like you went and bought a Gibson, not made the guitar yourself.

  • thats the point, to give it authenticity. I dont want some low brand guitar, i want a Gibson, so i make it look a Gibson.

  • Well if that's what you would do to a guitar you built by yourself, what would be the point, when you could just buy a regular Gibson?

You'd really spend all that time hand building a guitar, only for it to look like it was made by another company...?

I reckon this guy should put a strange logo that means something to him on the headstock or else leave it blank...

  • the point is you can buy a kit for less than $200 and make it look like it was bought for $2000. Its value price dude, thts y u do it. Im currently about to build a buckethead replica guitar, and put the Gibson logo on it, t add the authenticity.

  • The headstock has my name as a logo but due to the illumination of the video it's hard to see.

BTW I do have a Gigson Les Paul and this Saga Kit was for the experience of building it plus it forced me to research on setups, setting action, neck adjustment and pickup replacement. The added bonus, I like how it sound which is completely different from my other guitars.

Thanks for all of the comments

  • I agree w/colm...my opinion is Gibson is overated and ur just payin for the logo anyway...Get a Schecter C1-plus for 400 dollars...Gibson cant even come close to touching the technology of that guitar and u can buy 4 of them to one gibby;-)

  • great cover ;P

  • wat pots r they? 500k?

  • Yes, 500k long shaft

  • Did u have to adj.truss and tonate, hows the action on her??

  • Adjusting the rod and shimming the neck pocket took me a lot of reading and lot of trial an error until i got a good action with out any buzz. The action is very smooth and I was surprised that the frets where in perfect alignment..

  • Thats good to know ...atleast its of good quality,when all said is done;-}

  • Did you modify the hardware?

  • Change tuners for locking Grovers, replaced pots wiring and the pots.

  • I was wondering where you got that blue paint! It looks awesome!

  • Pep Boys DupliCOlor

  • dude if i were you id buy a stesbar or a kahler cause you get horrible tuning problems with non locking setups

  • this is on guitar attack . com right?

  • Yes,

  • cool, great playing too

  • AweSomE!

could please tell me how you got the whammy up there ?

  • urm what kind of whammy is that?

    looks cool~

  • Thats a Les Trem Stop-Tailpiece Tremolo which acts more as Bigsby, not as a normal tremolo, no dive bombs

  • what brand is it? im interesting in buying one if it is not too expensive haha...

  • Check it out in Steward Mcdonald site search Les Trem

  • It is acceptable for rhythm guitar, almost any humbucker size pickup can be installed and its an easy job. Search google for projectguitar for tutorial on how to paint. Use water slide decals for the headstock, again search for waterslide headstock decal and you will find where you can buy them and customize them.

  • are those the original pickups that came with the kit

  • No they are Steward Macdonald GoldenAge Humbuckers

  • i got the newest one

  • since i'm living in indonesia.will it deliver it here as well?

  • hey.where can we get the kit?

i'm living in indonesia for now, and i'm trying to buy from amazon..is it safe?

  • I got from E-Bay

  • Is it worth it?

I'm planning on getting the kit, and installing Gibson hardware on it, with Dimarzio DX2N pickups(my favorite pickups in the freakin' world!) and some Grover tuners.

Is that neck alright as far as playability?

  • Some people hate the neck, I kind of like it, and for the price I can't ask for more.

  • where did you buy the paint, or is it car paint ?

  • Duplicolor Car Paint from Pet Boys

  • i like this one...its nice, great tone...are they the pick ups it comes with?

  • No, Steward McDonald GoldenAge Humbuckers

  • ahh okay...cheers man, keep it up, good work

  • you should paint the head

  • is it hard to build, and do you need any experience to make this kit? looks and sounds very good, nice job dude

  • how does it compare to a gibson one?

  • Wood is not the same, its more heavy than a Les Paul, on the plus side has more sustain than my Les Paul. The thing is the fun and pride of building it and sounds very good.

  • Damn,if its heavier, thats all matters, slap a rockfield fatass in the bridge and let er rip!!

  • realy good sounding guitar but how did you confused the neck with body?

  • that looks really cool

  • Saga LP Kit from E-bay

    400, 800, 1000, 2000 sandpaper

Polishing Compund medium, Fine, and scratch remover form Steward Mcdonald

    Duplicolor Deep Blue, and Clear

    Grovers Tuners

    Steward McDonald Humbuckers

Hope thats the list you were looking for

  • wow you did an awsome job on that thing

  • Looks and sounds great!

  • Hey i was thinking about buying one of these is it hard to build? Also is it worth the trouble?

  • Its easy to build. the hardest part is to paint but threre's a lot of guides in the internet on how to do it correctly.

Is it worth, to me yes, is not a Les Paul but its plays ok and I built it

  • thanks

  • could you say what you used?

  • i mean what painting guide or did you just paint it without any tutorials

  • He wet sanded that thing,and compounded,then buff/polished the sh%$! out of it.Looks awesome!!!

  • The one that I use is a Trem Les from Steward MacDonald which works as a Bigsby not to dive bombs. If the body you plan to use is a Strat type is more easy to put in the tremolo.

  • are those the pickups from the kit?

  • Yes, but I just replaced them this week because at moderate volume they feedback, I replaced them with Golden Age pickups from Steward-MacDonald.

  • thanks man
