Nice shooting but no inspiration. You just transposed The NoF doujin of Abe Yoshitoshi and said it's "inspired". It'as a fuckin copy. It's visually cool but poorly inspired. You should have kept the character of Lain and the doujin content to truly adapt them on a real short-movie
You know, I went in and started watching this thinking I wouldn't like it. (So why did I? I'm not sure. Compulsory, I guess?)
I did like it though :o Usually english in Japanese concepts is really off-putting for me, but in your case it just needed some 'getting used-to', if that makes sense ^_^
A mesmerizing piece! It possesses an eerie charm that couldn't be recreated with a huge budget or straight-forward screenplay. I found the Sasebo reference to be especially chilling. Damn it, now I'm intrigued by the idea of what you would create with Sasebo as the central inspiration...
As a writer I'm overflowed with feelings I have to put down on paper after having watched this. Regarding things on the screen, only a few select things manages to grasp my heart so much. So I say this: You better make it in life, so that you can give the world movies that are masterpieces! For I truly believe that you can do that, if you continue as this. Cheers!
I love it. I would've never believed to see "The Nightmare of Fabrication" as a movie, one that is so good, too. It really got that 'lain feeling' to it.

You should submit this to the Vimeo Festival + Awards. David Lynch is judging the "experimental" category.
