Imagine the fun you could've had if you had an old manual, and people were about to get on....time it right....SLAM! Access denied. :) Great get! Maybe the next stop is a paint factory. Poor Dieselducy needs one.
Even though Schindlers are ahead, they beep as soon as it turns. KONE's have the same problem. The indicator changes, and then it has a delayed beep, which can be out of tune most of the time.
That's how the elevators at The Metropolitan Tower are. The ones that goes to the 40th floor, the indicator is like 4 floors ahead of the beeps (while the ones that go to 30 are 2 floors ahead.)
Same with the 14 Manning Ave. one I recently posted. The count was Schindler-esque, but the beep was in synch with floor arrival. Going 125Ft/Min, the counter couldn't go more than 1 ahead.
how about the fedral buliding? did you visit there in st louis. (i work there)

The indicator and the beep is out of sync, but wow are the gorgeous!

It's an Otis. Of course they are.
The beeps generally are in synch with the floor travel, and the counters typically run-away. This one is no exception.
Gorgeous it is, though!

I've noticed that on certain KONE's as well, especially the truck stop one Dieselducy shown a couple times.

And everyone says that Schindler's bad! Schindler and ThyssenKrupp have good counting indicators. They do fade very quickly though.

I noticed the dimness on a few Dover Impulse elevators. Weird that an incandescent light would do that.
If it's a flourescent display, I can see it dimming out over time.

True.

I've seen that on the hydraulic Dovers and one traction here in Little Rock.
