Drilling in ANWR won't drop gas prices that much. The 15 billion barrels of oil that is there might ease our dependency a little, but oil companies are raking it in and I don't see them really easing up. Drilling areas always expand, too. The indigenous animals and people will suffer. It'd be nice if congress and hopefully the new President does something.

Not once did Paulin actually answer whether or not she still believes that global warming isn't man-made, she just kept beating around the bush the whole time. Also, didn't the Alaska governor try to drill in Alaska during the Arab oil embargo in the 70's, but everyone voted to protect the enviroment instead? What makes her think that it'd work this time? Drilling in ANWR won't drop gas prices that much. The 15 billion barrels of oil that is there might ease our dependency a little, but oil companies are raking it in and I don't see them really easing up. Drilling areas always expand, too. The indigenous animals and people will suffer. It'd be nice if congress and hopefully the new President does something.

But is that reason not to take some action? Maybe in 6 years we'll begin to see a difference. I think all of us would agree that we need to do something. The oil problem isn't going to disappear, and America "doing nothing" by not drilling, won't help.

Even if Palin never has to take the job as president, it's still a problem if she is incompetent, b/c a VPs role is pretty important. If Obama had chosen a VP with the same experience as her's nobody would leave him alone for what a horrible choice he made. However, when a republican doesn't have much experience, you can always bring in the "family value" card, which makes it OK to be ignorant as long as you have conservative values. That is why Palin has a chance.
