I would really appreciate it if people could fill out a quick survey for my A2 Media Studies coursework, but I'm not allowed to post the link soooooo, if you're interested the link is on my page thing. Thanks!
Great video. "Following all literary and cinematic conventions, the black guy gets it first." Yes but the white guy gets in the end of the video and DOESN'T magically come back to life like everyone else. Hmmmmmm, what can it mean????
@teapsky how do you know when this song is written? artist don't mention that. a rush of blood to the head is from 2002 right? this album is from 2003
@orcaan Good point. It's just that I discovered Elbow after Coldplay (which is one of my favourite band btw) and I find some small similarities in some songs. For example, I have the feeling "grace under pressure" inspired some of the background music of tracks on Viva la Vida (strawberry swing for instance). I read somewhere that Chris Martin took inspiration from Guy Carvey... who himself took inspiration from Radiohead's work. Do I care? No, I love both bands, I just find it interesting
@Shellebel3. Much better I don't know, it's just different. I remember "falling in love" with Coldplay back in 2001 and it's true Parachutes and A Rush of Blood to the Head remain my favourite albums... maybe I would think different if I'd discover them now. It's normal a band evolves. Would we still love Coldplay had they made another 4 "parachutes"? Look at Travis, they didn't evolve much and still their new stuff is nowhere as good as "The Man Who" or "the Invisible Band".

@droogadict Learn to live with the fact, yes, the black guy does always gets bumped off first. However, as a counterpoint, it rarely matters much in the end if everyone else winds up taking the big dirt nap as well, no matter what race they are.
Proof that there are still bands out there nowadays worth listening to amongst all the R'n'B and Hip Hop drivel which pollutes the radio waves. Elbow are a band without limits whilst still retaining their technical proficiency and brilliant live performances.
Superb.

The beginning of the song reminds me of Coldplay's 'Politik"... a song written after this one. Brilliant from Elbow!
