At least the East German army stuck with or I should say "was allowed" to keep their Prussian style uniforms and heritage, unlike the West German uniform which looks totally unnatural mimicing the American uniforms great video thanks for posting it:}
Woo...............This video is like the German army is marching! With only the insignal different. It will be better if they can turn and move faster at 3:58-4:45. Oh, they even hav the imperial German helmet on at 10:05..............looks like the traditional German army has migrated to Chile. LOL
@ernestomono What you telling? Thats not the tradition of Pinochet! By GOD! ok Pinochet is the saver of the tradition but, I know it is in Chile a tradition a little bit after since the german-franco war. The chilean gouverment look for new millitary. And see the victory of germany in a few months, thats the reasen of the Tradition. But like Hitler, Pinochet keep and rape this tradition. But I know too, that Pinochet work in order of the USA.
@ernestomono But I love chile its the reason of my life, I hope some times, if Chile keeps this tradition, one time can Germany say: "Look at this democratic state, it is democratic and keeps the traditions, can we make it too?" But if you say it was the idia of the Pinochet, what is simply wrong! We can´t say that! But I love Chile, sry for my bad english and rude comment. I hope all the conservativs like Piñera this year or the sozialists like Michelle Bachelet the last years keep it too!!
@jaxxx1975 Don't worry, Prussian military tradition exists in Chile since 1880s and lasted despite the political colour of the successive governments. We keep Prussian traditions with proud and respect, yesterday, today and tomorrow.
Grandioso video.....tiene un valor historico enorme. Gracias amigo por compartir este material. Me enorgullece que el ejercito chileno mantenga la tradición prusiana hasta el día de hoy....saludos desde Chile
I was in Austria in '75, and was on top of a hill looking down into Cz. No inhabitants on the other side. It was a security zone obviously, and no civilians were allowed to live there. Also saw Austrian armor on manuevers every two days.
We never gave the East German Army the ultimate test of combat, but if their marching was any indication they would have made a tough show on the battlefield.
@Dysfunctional126 Still would've been interesting (albeit apocalyptic)...the first two world wars were Germany against the world...World War III would've been two German armies against each other.

@viking1960 Yeah...our band against theirs... It wouldn't be the DDR that we would fight...It would be the entire Eastern Bloc and the USSR
