No, a Chu is a slug-like creature. There are several in the 1st room in Lakebed Temple. They are the creatures where after you kill them, you have the option to put "chu jelly" into a bottle.
You have to clip through it twice on a segmented speedrun. If you clip through perfectly on both attempts, this would save maybe 5 seconds...not much.
You can also clip through the Orodon gate that Link closes after leaving Rustle in the begining of the game. Just take a rock over to the left side of the gate (right on gamecube), and side hop into it. You should be half way though the gate if you do it right. Then you keep doing sholder rolls until you pop out the other side. I didnt find that, though. I saw it on a youtube video.
Why would you accidentally target a Chu?
A Chu is a bomb that keeps traveling forward, right? Why would pressing Z(L on the GameCube controller) target a Chu?
