Are we making our own game and modding in a free roaming camera or are we designing our own levels in mass effect and then modding a free roaming camera? @clog555 Unreal Engine 3 (the engine that UDK uses) is, by default, an FPS-oriented engine. However, it CAN be used to create other genre's of games (racing, fighting, etc.). This is why, when you jump into the engine, load up a pre-made level, and run it, it appears as though it is an FPS game. But, you can manipulate (or create) assets to be used in your game [sounds, 3D models, etc.] It takes time and patience to pry UDK away from its FPS origins successfully, but it CAN be done. (Ex. GOW.).

@videowatcherforsale That's recommended because obviously what you build is taking up ram. So for pretty huge levels you will need alot of ram. But later in the tutorial he shows how to use drawdistance and other ram/CPU conserving things.
