Yep my 1960 van has a towbar.......parallel parking in Oxted with a 7 x 5 caged trailer on the back was good fun. Had to put a piercing reverse alarm so as not to run over the old dears. Took it to Australia in 2003 and it gets loads of good comments. What do you have as the rear bumpers?...looks interesting like chain or something. Drive safely.
What is the thing in the center of the rear bumper? It doesn't look like any trailer hitch I've ever seen before, but I can't imagine what else it would be...not that I can see any reason someone would put a big ugly trailer hitch on a customized car like that anyway! Nice job on the build though...that's one fun looking little machine. What kind of power did you squeeze from the engine?
I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree
Nice lookin Mini there. My first ever car was a 1981 Clubman Estate that I stuck with for 4 years. Fitted an MG 1300 engine, bored to 1380cc, skimmed head, with 7x13" Superlites and finished in Black pearlescent making it gunmetal in certain light. I loved it but it got stolen from my garage, thrashed around and driven into a brook before they torched it. I've still got the bonnet and number plate though.... Dunno why, makes me sad when I see em.
if i had a garage and a plentyful of money id do something very similar, build my ultimate mini (which would keep changing throughout the build mind) especially putting the round nose on a clubby estate nice touch!
So you changed the Clubman front on it? I cant imagine how much blood sweat and tears went into all that work, Well done, it's brilliant, wish I kept my old M.C.E and renovated it, I did have a nice 1275 A+ Metro in, it was a little rocket..
hahahahahlol!
