  • FUCK LEARNING ITS TIME 2 JAMM IT

  • what a brillint way to learn the notes, i was doing the single string thing and never thought of learning the natural notes on each string first!!!!! amazing

  • Now that I think of it, this is how my junior high band teacher taught me to learn the notes on trombone all those years ago. Makes total sense. Thanks.

  • this was by far the easiest and most fun way to learn note names on the fretboard

it actually becomes very simple if you learn it this way

  • dude yes this is exactly the training i need to completel my playing thx a million!!

  • I couldn't see the dots. I'm lost.

  • Ive been playing all these years relying on shapes and not knowing individual notes... Think Im gonna sit down and learn em all now... Thanks for the lesson...

  • Or you just make flash cards of the fretboard with each of the notes you wanna learn. This way you learn the notes like the open strings...no needing associasions with other notes....you see 10 fret second string and you know is A immediatelly without even thinking about B being in the 12 fret. You can do it by yourself or with software programs that test you randomly. You cant go wrong with this method.

  • I feel guitar lessons are a waste you can just as easily teach yourself anything and being able to use multiple resources ensures that you arent just getting one approach to a certain lesson. Keep searching and reading until you understand. Ive played for 6 years know so much theory and can play a variety yet I havent learned to "quickly" find every note. Deffinietly a good watch. Thanks

  • Amazing! Thank you so much, bro!

  • C?... SEE!

  • This 3 part process was great man. Straight to the point.

    Where's F? RIGHT THERE!

    Lol great videos man.

  • Man u FN rock! I am thirty, just started playing guitar again this summer. I used to play in high school but just knew a bunch of songs. Wanted to say thank you for taking the time to make this content available. I had taken guitar courses at a university in Oregon and this method was not taught, but I wish it had been. Thank you !!!

  • Dude awesome... I agree with alot of these folks. Been playing guitar for years (self taught) and wanted to become a better musician by learning the theory. Could never get into to it cause it was so boring! Now i just think it was poorly taught. Very insightful! Thanks for the lesson!

  • Best Demonstration available on Internet!!! \m/ thnx a lot for the upload!!!

then you know where they are placed , then after u know that , go watch this tutorial again,

i can give u a little start kit here

  • Nailed it! Easy and good. Very helpful. Trying to learn to get better. Means everything.

  • Hey, I don't know how to play guitar so my question is, why do i need to learn this ?

    Will this help with tabs.

  • @debrunskys

It really depends on how good you plan on getting as a guitarist. If you would like to get to professional level you really need to learn this. I also advise against tabs unless you only see playing guitar as a small hobby just to learn a few songs.

  • This was so incredibly helpful, cheers :D

  • I love you.

  • im just beginning from scratch and i have some questions about finger placement on the guitar... i havent had the chance to look through all of the videos but i hope this is my chance to learn... i found out how to locate c.. just started

  • Fine!

  • Huge help mate. cheers

  • He said g-string tehe

  • @iPhuckedDubstep o o u sexxi boi

  • 0:07 seconds he picks his nose lol

  • Extremely helpful. I finally am taking the plunge into learning the fretboard, and it's (a little) less intimidating. Thanks!

  • you rock man!

  • Like your method... for some reason I've had a block for years to really learning the fretboard well. One thing though... next time you do a video... tune to 440. It is maddening to anyone in 440 playing alone. I'm pretty sure you're a hair sharp.

  • @rlciv A little bit more than a hair, I would say...

  • This is the best lesson on learning the notes on the guitar that I've ever seen. Super simple to understand & execute. I was surprised that it stuck in my head even after I put my guitar down.

  • Thanks man! You opened the floodgates for me. It helps SO much to identify the strings as their "string names" instead of "1st string", "2nd string", etc. This allows you to assign each fret position a unique "grid" number (B11, G7, A3, etc.) I made flashcards for each position with the corresponding note name on the back! I also made a flashcard for each of the 13 note names with the 8 or 9 places each is found on the fretboard on the back. These plus your note groups helped me crack the code!

  • a logic way to learn it, it should been on page one on every beginner's guitar book!!

    thanks for sharing

    //Ken

  • Thank you so much ;)

  • amzingly helpful thx very much

  • where is C?

  • Should I look at what note im playing on sheet music?

  • OMG!!! Guy, your 3pt series ROCKS.. I've had my guitar abt 3mos.. I started out tk'n formal lessons & ended up quitting.. I felt like I was only paying for the priviledge to say I was tk'n guitar lessons, b'cuz I wsn't learning anything.. I got bored & sat my guitar & amp in the corner to collect dust. Just earlier 2day, I happen to come across your videos, & got my excitement back.. 3 hrs later, I have mastered the C, D, & B's, & am having fun doing so.. Thanks Guy..

  • @shaney76us

same with me, i had a crap guitar teacher who didnt teach me anything and then i stopped having lessons with him

  • THANK YOU. I have been avoiding this for years.

  • 355 people needs to learn more,, 6 people are the experts

  • Best Darn video if you ask me

  • Very nice, thanks so much

  • dude i've been playin for almost 10 years and never bothered to learn notes and it hinders my creativity consequently....just started watchin your vid and I cant tell you how much this helps! Never had a lesson before but this method of learning the notes rock!!! Take care brotha!!!!

  • Boy, am I glad I searched and found this today! I'm about to go to my 4th guitar lesson today and I love this method for learning the fret board. My instructor was showing me one string at a time, up and down, and I just didn't want to do it - nor grasp it - this is so much more intuitive. THANKS SO MUCH for sharing your knowledge! ~ Elizabeth

  • Thank you very much for shareing this with me! i'm learning this now, and this is MUCH eaiser! =)

  • ima sound like a neeb but do these help u when constructuing chords ?

  • @Ryuzakigold absolutely! I've been playing for close to 20 years and never learned all the notes. I have to do it this week. LOL! I understand theory a bit and this will definitely help with learning it all the more.

  • @Ryuzakigold Hi! I've just started taking lessons, but I believe once you understand where the notes are on the fret board, you can use the same chord fingering to play different chords - depending on the root (first note/string played) note. In just watching this once, I feel like it's so much more logical than what my instructor is teaching me, which is just learning one string at a time, up and down. Take care!

  • U SIR ARE A LEGEND! it would have took forever to learn the fretboard but just like you "BOOM" i learned all those notes in 1 day!

  • a good, obvious lesson, a technique that gets overlooked, helped me out dude

  • thanks for this lesson, youve just made it look so easy...awesome

  • Thank you!

  • CLEAN YOUR FRETBOARD!! JEEEZZZ!!

  • @Dbroncos66 stfup u moron!...theres always one dickhead ,,,and yep your it!!

  • Comment removed

  • Clean your dick , jeez! it hast been used for years!

  • @Pierceher yet nobody explains it in the internet... i searched over and over in free lessons and NOBODY has it

  • This is by far one of the best lessons. I've created a complementary video with an exercise that will also help people to remember all the note locations. You can see it on my channel. I hope people find this as useful as your lesson.

  • How do you write down "sharps" and "flats" ? I know its something like ex: F#, but the other way ?

  • @MasterMetallicaCover G sharp would be G#, G flat would look like Gb

  • this lesson is kick ass

  • dude this is sick thx !!! finaly

  • Amazing and yet so simple to understand...!! Thanks a million times !!!

  • ha ha ha .this is the simplest way....its awesome

    i am loving it

  • nice and easy to follow, but your forgot the h note??? what about h???

  • @speaks66 ROFL

  • @speaks66 Ha ha! I told my friend that the fretboard goes from A to T and after that I would say something like "Good, now find M in under 2 seconds or I'll spray you with water." Ah.... People are so gullible.

  • LOL @ "Where's C on the high E? Right there." Love that! :D)

  • This has got to be the greatest way to learn the notes of the fretboard EVER!! Thank you a gazillion times for this, Cirqueduguitar! You ARE the Man!! :D))

  • Wow, that seriously was a lot easier than any other way I have tried to learn guitar notation. Thanks!

  • @sk8bissh mhmmm. strings also have to do with the sound. :p

  • Cirqueduguitar, you are very good at explaining things, you have a very clear and concice way of teaching things....pretty rare to see. I was trying to memorize by doing the string by string + octave method, this is much, much better. Thanks.

  • @sk8bissh TUNE IT HEHEHEHE.

  • the high e,its,c,BOOM! ha great vid man, thanks.

  • Makes perfect sense. Thanks dude.

  • This is the best way to learn notes on the fretboard ... You are a genie ... Learnt it in a few mins without playing it on my guitar ... Tried it later and remembered everything ... Thanks :).

  • very nice video. i'm going to show my nephews this!

  • Awesome! I just got my guitar right now and I already learned in 6 minutes! Thanks!

  • D'oh! ha ha you wouldn't believe the ridiculously complicated way I've been trying to learn the fret notes. I'm sitting here feeling like an idiot now, should have checked out youtube ages ago.

  • i know an easier method

  • @wtf5031 Oh yeh? Whats your way of learning the fretboard thats eaiser than this?

  • Is this for an acoustic guitar?

  • @Missbval The fretboard is the same on an electric and an acoustic

  • @Missbval On the firts 12 frets are the same 4 an electric or acoustic guitar, after that it changes because u have 22 or 24 frets on an electric guitar and u have 15 or 17 frets on a acoustic..

  • great method

  • dude u rock i got it down in one day

  • Thank you so much I love your system it really helped me to understand the fretboard. I was having a terrible time learning names up each string. Great job of explaining, clear and concise.

  • wow this is like the best Christmas present ever. Thanks man.

  • i justt snaped a string lol

  • This per-note approach is better than the per-string methods or the methods based on shapes, like CAGED or the octave method. They are too indirect - you need to just know where the note is without thinking about it or relating it to anything else.

Unfortunately this video still uses that approach a bit - he says "B is easy because it is just below C", but it is better to learn B independently. I would actually learn adjacent notes out of order to make sure that I learned them independently.

  • awesome method! but wouldnt it be easier to start with a?

  • Good, common sense method! Thank you for taking the time to share it!

  • Thanks alot your a legend :)

  • Dude! You seriously saved me a ton of nerve damage! This has been a seriously daunting and tedious task before I found your method!

    God bless u!

  • he's just teaching guitar method using keyboard theory, but yes very good video, however i find it more useful for guitar to learn the pentatonic A minor/C major scale and then fill in the gaps. The pentatonic scale is essentially a skeleton that all other scales are built around and works alot easier on guitar. You can alsolearn patterns and notes at the same time using pentatonic scale.

  • You Sir are a genius!!

Thank you so much for making this video.

I have learned so much in this whole video i seriously memorized those 3 notes in about 2 days of practicing, and i didn't think it was possible to learn it so easily!!!(until i saw this video at least)

  • why do we start with C and not A? just curious

  • @sombora key signitures. in music the "alphabet" starts with C because there is no sharps or flats in it.

  • Thank you! This video helped me a lot! :) You're good teacher:)

  • Brilliant! Thanks so much for this tip, best way I have ever heard... God Bless

  • can you show us more? this is the only video i understand and you make it way way easier thank you for making a simple video for us that dont understand anything on a guitar, when and if convienant for you i would greatly appreciate the chance for you to show me more...hell make a home video ill buy it!!!!

  • hey man...I was wondering what I should learn next...

  • @doublejayjones

same here man .... wat to do next ???

  • @doublejayjones

same here man .... wat to do next ???

  • I've been playing for years and have been putting off this very task. Excellent method. Keep up the good work mate.

  • Is that a fender telecoustic?

  • very helpful , great method i feel i can easily take this into a good routine and learn it really quick, cheers man

  • thank god, i finally understand now :D

  • hey i just got a guitar as a present and idk what to do with it. i dont even know any notes or what they supposed to sound like!!!! can anyone hhhhhheeeeeelllllllppppppp?????

  • @MRCHEEKO315 the way i started is learn how to read tabulature which is very easy and just learn your favorite songs and i wouldn't worry about too much theory right now until you figure out if is something you want to do

  • @Nevanator7 how would i learn to read that when i dont even know what that is or where i would get it from? i just need serious help dude!!!!!!

  • @MRCHEEKO315 i can help u man

  • @vvdavidvv how & when??????

  • im a beginner and want to learn guitar. idk, this seems to be the way to go before just jumping in there and trying to play songs. thanks for these videos.

  • thank you for uploading this, I was looking for this for a while

  • This is a great tutorial and it has been a big help. I just started learning guitar today and I think I already got the A, B, and D notes down!

    Thank you!

  • jackin off

  • I was a bit skeptical at first but this is a great way to master the notes. Thank you so much. I am teaching my 7 year old and he is picking it up quickly.

    Oak

  • its hard because im retarded

  • lol, dont give up dude!

  • so helpful video..thank u!!!

  • This is an absolutely amazing method! You weren't kidding about the exponential understanding! I got to part 2 & once I learned F placements, "WOW"! I get it! Thank you so much!

  • great vid

  • It would be easier if they just wrote the notes on the fretboard.

  • yea but then if you change from standard tuning ... ya fucked.

  • @kweerb8:

Nah, not really. If you know what tuning you're playing in, it's relatively easy to find the notes. This is especially so when you know the notes in standard tuning already.

Also, it's always the same sequence of notes repeating over the fretboard, no matter how it's tuned. So I wouldn't say you're "fucked". Just a little slower.

  • shit man!!! C is everywhere ill never learn this

  • Comment removed

  • wow im saved !!!!!!!!

  • u are the shit

  • this is great

  • Wow man perfect
