  • I love watching my Sunday devotions.

  • Ben Stiller is so smart!

  • Amazing minds, thanks for uploading!

  • He wonders how religion got to this state of not being criticized. Observe how culture does. English culture especailly. Cultures wether its spanish, sweedish, french, german get treated like opinions tend to, not really as having content and being real human emotions and thoughts and vews when they do and should be seen that way and being treated like ceramic vases rather than like flower pots. All cultural expression can be seen upside down to what it is, after passing time.

  • This got boring pretty quick. I'm gonna go back to watching Monty Python clips.

  • if i could be one of those...... "heaven"

  • Dennett got hammered for being rude and aggressive. Hitch just got hammered.

  • How can the universe withstand these 4 people in one place?

  • I'm proud to be irreligious

  • @BayAreaOrBust Shame on you!

  • At around 5:30, Harris points out that physicists aren't offended at rational criticism; after all, that's how we make progress toward truth in the secular world. Why are religious practitioners so easily offended?

It's difficult to avoid concluding that religion is not engaged in an authentic search for truth but in a reinforcement of beliefs whether they happen to be factually true or not. That's why in debate we see people asserting "I BELIEVE X", as if that was sufficient justification.

  • Some atheists here in Germany were pretty offended by the popes mere visit - some weren't. Some religious people are offended by Dawkins & Co. - some ignore him. So what? The problem is with the "The". There are neither "the" atheists nor "the" religious.

  • @TimotheosCauvin I was very offended when the head of a religious organization was given a speech in the Bundestag, like he was a head of a foreign state, while all he is is the leader of an obnoxious cult mainly interested in keeping tabs on their sheeple.

  • this was uploaded almost 4 years to the day before hitchens death

  • 420,824 views. Nice.

  • One horseman is fucking dead. Waiting for other 3 to fall!

  • @shadowsburnme

Now we all know you're trash.

  • @shadowsburnme sounds like typical hypocrisy of a religious nut

  • @shadowsburnme You are a sadistic, evil bastard.

  • @wowzabowza123 And I love it being this way. There is no evil in an evolutionary world! Everything is all right, as long as it enhances my survival and reproductive potential.

  • @shadowsburnme Well as long as you're a sociopath.

  • @boothesquirrel Your deluded belief. You have not provided any evidence of that.

  • @shadowsburnme Where's your evidence, your claims started this

  • @boothesquirrel Read Biology 101 text book. Tons of evidence in it that evolution works to enhance survival and reproduction.

  • The 4 Horsemen:

    Dawkins: The Evolutionary one

    Harris: The Theologically-savy one

    Hitchens: The Muscle

    Dennett: The Philosophical one

R.I.P Hitchens. We've lost the muscle, but I'm confident someone will step up to the task.

  • @SeedsOfHatred Im ready baby!

  • The sheer brain power in this room would overwhelm the theists out there. I feel smarter just watching. RIP Hitch and love to the horsemen :)

  • "You cannot get around the concept of God." -- Adolf Hitler

  • I humbly submit this youtube video to atheists to more deeply understand why theism is more reasonable.

    watch?v=s30A9DJcw9A

  • I'm not religious, but nor am I an atheist or agnostic. My religious views are weak, and change from moment to moment. People like me are considered 'flakes.'

  • @Fuliginosus everyone who ever lived has been agnostic in the sense that no one has ever known how the universe started.

But religion is strictly "believe everything we say or you're a non-believer and you'll go to hell" so you can't really change from moment to moment.

  • I never knew there was a video of these four men together, and I tell you, I'll never run out of pie topping. Cause I creamed so fucking much.

  • I have a man crush on Sam Harris. He is so fucking smart!!

  • @DerrenBrown100 that took balls

  • sam harris is a buddhist who believe in ghosts and reincarnation

  • The IQ in this room is OVER 9000!!!!!

    I'm so original.

  • My heroes...

  • @MsRavensNest It's funny watching atheists watch these kinds of videos. They watch them the same way a religious person believes in their own religion. Can any atheists here disagree with any of these atheists videos? No, because these 4 people are their pastors. There is this strange need of atheists to proclaim they don't have a "belief" and yet they love to watch other people who agree with everything they say to stroke their ego. Ironically, skeptics aren't skeptical of themselves.

  • @VJWU as an atheist i watch and listen to these people because of admiration. They are highly educated and articulate and it's nice as an atheist to hear the arguments that they offer.

  • @mrgarlicbread100 You also admire Jim Cramer?! Isn't that guy basically a proven liar and scumbag?

  • @VJWU For an atheist to say "I don't know, but I don't believe" is not at all the same as saying "I know and I believe (in spite of no evidence for those beliefs)." And it is skeptical in nature. As for your question, I am an atheist and I disagree with anti-religion sentiments held by other atheists. I also disagree with Sam Harris' belief in the existence of objective morality.

  • @femmefatalep3 There's a great saying in Yiddish: "Der vos vil nit visn darf gloybn -- der vos vil nit gloybn darf visn." ("The one who doesn't want to know has to believe -- the one who doesn't want to believe has to know.")

  • @manthasagittarius1 That saying reminds me of a logical fallacy called proof by the absence of disproof.

Damn you, logic. You win every time.

  • @VJWU Furthermore, I have friends who are atheists, but spiritual (as in they feel some connectivity to other living things and a certain balance to the universe). The only thing we are sure to have in common, and this is quite by default, is a non-belief in any supernatural being.

  • This is so badass !

  • I'm a believe in Jesus Christ as creator, but I love Hitchens and video's like this. You don't have to be anti-evolution, astronomy, anything.

  • @OffTheGlass87 respect.

  • no hay subtitulos en español?

  • "You cannot get around the concept of God." -- Adolf Hitler

  • the power of atheism is so strong in that room, i think the tabli is going to float any second

  • As for Dennett: he's as smart as any of them, but he lacks the charisma of his peers.

  • Hitchens is the wittiest of them, the funniest, possibly the sharpest, and the surgical precision of his reasoning and the bluntness of his style makes him extremely fun to watch.

Harris, by contrast, is calm, cool, collected, he always states his position very well, he doesn't give off an aura of arrogance that many people see in Hitchens, which perhaps makes him more effective at an intellectual level.

Dawkins has a nice mix of the two, which is why he's my favorite.

  • Concousness and God are the same thing. God created the universe by thinking the universe into existence and as a result, the universe responds to thought. Read the book the Secret!

  • I'm so in love with Richard Dawkins

  • Comment removed

  • Amazing, 3 of my greatest heroes around one table. I can't believe I haven't seen this one before. I'm not sure who Daniel Dennett is, but I'm looking forward to finding out in the rest of these videos.

  • @CuriosityRoads what an intelligent comment...

  • @CuriosityRoads I bet Jesus taught you to say shit like that.

  • @CuriosityRoads Thats not nice, disrespectful towards an amazing thinker, what would Jesus say?

  • @Megapolable Why are you assuming that I'm a christian? I'm agnostic and don't follow any faith blindly, unlike the athiest cult. I'm just discerning enough to see that Hitchens was a retarded shill. Good riddance to him.

  • Actually, I excel in reading comprehension and have my entire life. Unfortunately, your post is too mangled for me to really understand very well.

And the way I see it, why respect someone's death when under their philosophy life itself has no genuine purpose?

  • Where one falls, five will rise up!

  • I love how Hitchens is causally having a fag at the side at the start. lol

  • RIP, Hitchens!

RIP these christians to shreds in the afterlife!

(just in case there is one)

  • One down, three to go!

    LOLZ @ U

  • RIP Hitchens

  • What Dennet is saying at the beginning is that it doesn't matter if you're nice about it or not, they'll still get offended. So fuck being nice.

  • RIP Hitchens

  • Dawkins: Horseman of WAR

    Dennet: Horseman of PESTILENCE

    Harris: Horseman of FAMINE

Hitchens: Horseman of DEATH (I think he earned that title.)

  • @TaimaDjinn Yeah your pretty much screwed as soon as you get Hitchslapped.

  • RIP Christopher Hitchens x

  • @YourHeartIsTheKey

    Now he is dead :(

  • After watching this I realized I'm not an Atheist, I'm a polytheist, since I can clearly see four gods sitting at one table.

  • @TeamJeaneus Bah!Bullshit!

  • RIP Hitchens!

  • @tvgobbi "RIP Hitchens!" Hitchens didn't believe in an afterlife, bro. Or maybe you meant something like "rot into pieces"?

  • @RyanMatthias Doesn't understand metaphor, It's in a poetic sense you know an eternal rest?

  • @ronocko I don't follow. Hitchens didn't believe in any sort of "eternal rest," either. He believed that once a person dies, their consciousness shuts down and that person ceases to exist. Not existing isn't resting, it's not existing. Further, if you want to talk about metaphors, go contact the 4 Horsemen. They should all know that religious texts aren't meant to be literally interpreted and in fact are rife with metaphor.

  • @RyanMatthias Reading comprehension do you have it? You don't need to believe in an afterlife or an eternal rest dying is non existence the consciousness is gone but it means rest in peace he doesn't exist anymore he's not suffering in pain of cancer he's not got to worry about anything that's it. It's just a show of respect for someone who has passed away get over it.

  • Dawkins has a martini, what an absoloute f******g player

  • I'd love if they all had ravenous sex at the end

  • @benehan SICK..

  • I'm going out on a limb evolution is a law , we all know that it is real ,religious people are grasping, holding on to something that isn't real and fear rules them

  • Inspired by this talk…so much so I made a logo 4 these gentlemen: I was and am inspired by this talk…so much so I made a logo 4 these gentlemen:

search "four horsemen" on spreadshirt and zazzle

    thanks for the post!

  • Richard Dawkins may be the most popular of the Four Horseman.. but Hitchens is the deadliest.

  • @YourHeartIsTheKey you irish?

  • @YourHeartIsTheKey Definitely the harshest, but I think Harris is the deadliest, at least the most effective. The religious can write Hitchens off as an emotion driven, angry, militant atheist easier than Harris. His calm cool, egoless logic just kind of calmly murders religious bullshit

  • @YourHeartIsTheKey Like Dawkins said: "I used to be the bad cop until Hitchens came along" lol

  • @YourHeartIsTheKey Richard Dawkins is also the biggest idiot out of all of them.

  • @buzzy0016 Straight As to get into Oxbridge, notwithstanding the entrance interview, then being one of the very brightest (absolute crème de la crème) to get a 1st-Class Degree. Finally, after submitting his thesis, getting a PhD, working his way up to Professor and writing million-selling books, you still describe Dawkins as an "idiot"? I don't know your credentials, but I'm guessing you're "special" ;O)

  • @Tj930 Not idiot as in "dumb",i mean't idiot as in insane, crazy atheist on the extreme who goes as far as going against religious people and spreading the hate towards them all at the same time.

  • @buzzy0016

'Idiot' never means that. Go dig a hole and die so you can finally meet the God who you believe owns you.

  • This is like the real Lord of the Rings!

  • 4 of the greatest living thinkers on planet Earth

  • legends!!!

  • I feel sorry for this group of gentlemen !!!

  • @isawman1 ... why?

  • @icareg Because unless they get saved they will all go the same way as Hitchens !!!!

  • @isawman1 I think you're referring Hitchens being diagnosed with cancer, right? Are you implying christians don't have cancer or go through worse things in their lives? :O

  • @cassioam They do but Christ did not come to save the flesh but rather the spirit , Hitchens for the first time in his life has no answers and no hope !!!!

  • @isawman1 No answers to what questions? No hope regarding what? Going to heaven? All atheists, by definition, don't believe in heaven, regardless of having cancer or not. I'm still not clear about the connection between having cancer and religion.

  • @cassioam Hitchens cancer has forced him to conclude the reality of a spiritual realm and a saviour..............He has admitted as much !!!

  • @isawman1 Do you have a source? Go to the cancer section on his Wikipedia page and you'll read this: "The letter also dismissed the notion of a possible deathbed conversion, in which he claimed that 'redemption and supernatural deliverance appears even more hollow and artificial to me than it did before.'"

  • @isawman1 classic christian tactic.

    lying.

  • @isawman1 Show me any evidence, and I shall believe! As for Mr.Hitchens, he don't need hope or answers. He already knows the answer and his only hope (for survival) lies in science, built on evidence.

  • @abdallahmarsh Except in this case, they're right.

  • @abdallahmarsh don't be a meanie poo poo head

  • "I'd quite like to quantify that" - classic Dawkins.

  • I think that the picture of the four horsemen is quite out of date. They are clearly an allegory for news carriers from biblical times. The four postmen would be much more appropriate :)

Also mister Dennet's beard looks like it was made of clouds and it makes me smile ^_^

  • while evolution does not disprove the existence of a God, it does disprove Christianity. Evolution and science have disproved countless aspects of the Bible from the creation of Earth, life on Earth, the emergence of humans, etc. Because the Bible is the holy word of God, how can Christian's pick and chose the aspects they like but at the same time ignore what has been proven wrong. As a Christian you either believe all of it or none of it. This sort of half-ass believe is blasphemous

  • @490310001 which specific parts have disproven Christianity?

I'm an agnostic, trying to find out what's true, and any help would be greatly appreciated :)

  • Comment removed

  • @Intellectual4God does he argue with scientific evidence for the truth of Christianity?

    Because I believe that there's a god, because I don't know how the world can come from nothing {-_-}

I just need EVIDENCE.... LOGIC....you know?

  • Comment removed

  • @DanieLatzanich I believe that if you are to place your faith in Christianity you have to believe in the entirety of the Bible; it is the word of God and is therefore to be taken literally, it says that right in the Bible. I don't feel it's appropriate for people of faith to "interpret" the Bible as they please to conform with current moral or scientific views, so that their religion can be justified. Either stick to your guns or don't but I personally feel that diluting it makes it worse

  • @DanieLatzanich You can start with the creation story in Genesis. It says God created man and all the animals that inhabit the Earth. We know for a fact that evolution has produced all of the animals we see today, and that they evolved from some form of ancient ancestor. We know the age of the Earth to be over 4billion years old, where the Bible indirectly says that it is only 10,000 years old. I believe if you can disprove one aspect of the word of God, The Bible, then it all loses credibility

  • @490310001 I've heard arguments against that 10,000 yr old thing

The ideas are that each 'day' represents an age

or between Genesis 1:1 and 1:3 there is an entire era/epoch etc.

    or the text is 'poetic'

  • @DanieLatzanich I've heard that argument too, but it brings me back to my last point. it is dangerous to interpret the "word of God" as anything other than how it is written, especially if you consider yourself a true believer. I think each day being an epoch is man's current interpretation of the Bible so that the church is in line with modern science and popular perspective. Again, God either created the universe in 6 days or he didn't. I don't subscribe to the notion of it being metaphorical

  • @490310001 well I can't really argue with what you decide to think

but the word 'day' has different meanings in Hebrew

and there is the saying "A day for us is like a 1000 years to God"

but I agree that Christianity is very flexible and that that is probably one reason it's survived this long

  • @DanieLatzanich Agreed. It's because of my personal perspective that I do not believe in the Bible, but it doesnt stop other people from believing in it.

  • You see, now you admit its just a theory. That makes me feel better. Whenever I reduce someone to calling me names I know I've reached the end of their intelligible arguments. Atheist cling to this theory just like religious people cling to ID. Truth be told, even if it evolution were true it wouldn't prove religion wrong. You see atheist NEED this theory to be true, hence the passion. Good talk, really!

Why don't you try learning what an ad hominem is? Google is only a click away... *Facepalm*

Hint: It's not just personal attack or abuse. -_-

  • Comment removed

  • @abdallahmarsh Assertoric, right... -_- That's why I asked jmtorres5787 to Google search observed examples of speciation and even linked a video explaining why macro evolution is a fact, instead of only stating it as a just so case. Care to try again?

  • @jmtorres5787 Right, like Germ theory is just a theory (you know, the theory that germs are responsible for causing disease? Yeah, just a theory.) Your ignorance as to what scientific facts and theories are and how they relate to each other are now quite transparent. Scientific facts are observations or pieces of data. Scientific theories are explanations of those facts, because facts can't explain themselves. Just like the theory of gravity (General Relativity) explains the fact of gravity.

  • @ApemanD Don’t cop out now just because I called you a few names. Address the arguments and don’t just claim victory because you got butt hurt over some insults. I might actually be in the wrong for name calling and will admit to such. It appears you don’t consider yourself religious, so if that’s the case, and you really aren't, then my assumptions of you were wrong and the labels were inapplicable. You see, usually it’s creationists who deny reality, and not the irreligious. :/

  • @ApemanD “Truth be told, even if it evolution were true it wouldn’t prove religion wrong.” No dur. It would disprove a literal interpretation of some holy books, but wouldn’t disprove the existence of some kind of creator god who uses evolution as a mechanism for the diversification of life. That’s why I mentioned the majority of Christians who accept evolution. Why does everything I say get ignored except for the insults? “You see atheists NEED this theory to be true” Straw man much?

  • I think Hitchens is going to get cancer if he keeps drinking and smoking like that.

  • @fixinmytie poor taste

  • Where is the mathematical structure? Please, that's all I ask. It should be easy since your so confident its a FACT

  • @jmtorres5787 Mathematical structure? Mathematical expressions only appear in law, not theory, you stereotypical douche kid. Not all scientific laws reduce to an equation either. Tell me, where's the mathematical structure to Germ Theory? How about Plate Tectonics?

Also, I see you're going to avoid observed instances of speciation like every dishonest fuckwit always does. Observation in science means FACT. Macro-evolution (Speciation) has been OBSERVED, so it's a FACT.

  • Evolution as the origin of species is not fact. Evolution as adaption and variation among species, is a fact, no one is arguing that. There is NO proof that evolution has the power to change a species completely. No mathematical structures that can verify random mutation and natural selection the way there IS mathematical structures that verify gravity and general relativity. These guys are just fanatic atheist, who use propaganda! Don't forget modern science was born from Christianity.

  • @jmtorres5787 There’s been over 150 years of research since the origin of species was written. You speak of it as though it was being followed like a holy book. Variation BETWEEN species is a demonstrable fact. Google observed instances of speciation and get proven wrong. There is change in allelic frequency (random mutation) or else there wouldn’t even be variation WITHIN species, so you literally contradicted yourself because you’re just parroting a creationist mantra...

  • @ApemanD “There is NO proof that evolution has the power to change a species completely.” This tired old straw man proves you’re brainwashed. A species CANNOT outgrow its ancestry, so changing “completely” from one species into something “completely” different and unrelated to anything else is impossible and NOT what is proposed by evolution.

    watch?v=Dm277H3ot6Y

  • @ApemanD Modern science was born out in spite of the dogma the Christian church clung to. If not for the enlightenment, and the brave men unsatisfied with “goddidit” as the answer to everything, the Christian dark ages would have lasted much longer. The fact is the majority of Christians accept biological evolution because they’re not retarded fundamentalists who worship a book as though it were the literal truth from cover to cover (as is the case with creatards and the book of Genesis.) -_-

  • The problem with these guys is that their so blind to the fact that they behave in just the same way "religious fanatics" do. They treat the origin of species through evolution as absolute fact. Its not even close. If you think it is, chances are you haven't really looked at the other sides argument. I recommend David Berlinski on youtube. I think its just hard for scientist to admit, we don't know.

  • @jmtorres5787 No one here is worshiping the origin of species the way religitards worship their holy books. Evolution is a fact the same way gravity is a fact. Speciation (Macro-Evolution) has been directly observed both in the wild and in controlled laboratory conditions. The other side's arguments consist of misquoted authorities, absurd parodies, logical fallacies, and out and out lies. David Berlinski is a senior fellow of the Discovery Institute (A well known creationist propaganda mill).

  • Tell the families of the 2 million dead Vietnamese and the 1 million dead Iraqis how wonderful the christian US government was during the illegal wars we engaged in. Or course athiests are the evil ones, right? I just dont understand how an all powerful and merciful God would let evil reign over his creation? He could save all humanity but remains silent? It just doesnt follow what the church says about mercy and grace. I would like to believe but faith just doesnt cut it.

  • Attention all Christians!!! OK, I have always felt that your own religious beliefs are your own damn business, because, after all, the United States Constitution allows for religious freedom. But what I resent, is when right-wing Christard Funny-mentalist whack-jobs try to force their religious beliefs on other people, and attempt to insert their infantile Creationist fairy tales into school science textbooks. Evolution is a fact! Get over it!

  • yes they are four horsemen of destruction and doom

  • Hitchens with a cig and some Johnnie Walker BL looks so badass at the start of the vid.

  • Dawkins, Dennett, Harris, Hitchens - it's like John, Paul, George, Ringo.

  • To rohenghale!

Life is a gift And we are not allowed such great gift to abuse or misused.

We are to follow natural law And divine commandments. If some people act against natural order or God's commandments then the punishment will follow.

People wake up! Convert! If not then you have to face everlasting punishment in hell.

God is good. God is merciful And God is also just And will net let evildoers go unpunished.

  • @franciszek8D go fuck urself with ur god.

  • @franciszek8D God is merciful????? yet in your fairytale he/she punished every single living thing on earth with a flood (fuck knows where all the water went???) for the sins of man (his creation also) if thats him being merciful id hate to see him/her on rag week

  • holy shit it's Santa

  • No Richard, its only you who are strident, arrogant, vitriolic and shrill.

And according to Atheist philosopher Dr. Daniel Crame, you are also a coward for refusing a debate with William Lane Craig.

  • @AntiFascist2011 There's no reason to enter into a debate. Christopher Hitchens has already bested Craig in a debate, what's been the result of that? Nothing at all.

Craig has no valid argument for 1) The existence of a creator, 2) That the aforementioned creator is the Christian God. Dawkins is a scientist that, rightly, refuses to give credence to a belief system that has no evidence to support it. Craig enters the argument with pure blind, stubborn faith. The debate is pointless.

  • @TenWhoWereTaken ??? Every honest Atheist admits that Hitchins was destroyed by Craig in that debate. Hitchins even abandoned one of his turns to speak because he couldn't answer Craig.

    1) Kalām cosmological argument

    2) The resurrection of Jesus Christ

Better scientists than Dawkins are Christian.

  • @AntiFascist2011 I'm not going to argue about the Hitchens debate because, although I've seen it, I haven't properly watched it. Maybe I should.

My point still stands. I notice you're a believer. I assume that nothing these people say can change your mind? As an atheist, I'd be unlikely to be converted by any philosophical argument from a religious person. The debates are pointless besides the ridiculous competitive aspect.

  • @AntiFascist2011 There comes a point in evolution where you have to move on from the spot you're in to move forward. Hitchens and Harris debated Craig and almost every other religous zealot and kicked there asses into the ground with reason and logic. They can either choose to keep having the same useless arguement with people who REFUSE to get in or move on to the next stage. Thats what science is constantly doing, meanwhile religion motionless.

  • All must follow natural law. Christian standards are for Christians. The natural order is for all.

The natural laws are written in our human nature. All people regardless Of their religions, even atheists may know that homosexual activity, abortion, rape is wrong.

The problem is that immoral, sinful life blinds us and some people are getting used to immoral life style and loose their moral compass.

  • @franciszek8D "Even athei
