I just watched this movie for the first time just a few minutes ago. Wow...I was just expecting it to be good, but it's not good...It's unbelievably amazing. I've never seen something so great in a long time. Love the music too.

This has got to be one of the best soundtracks ever written as well as just amazing music on its own right. To believe this didn't win an Oscar. I can't comprehend what the Academy was thinking at the time. Oscars are over-rated!

No, while propaganda doesn't automatically prevent a movie from being a masterpiece, it doesn't make it one, either.

@Hiraghm I agree that propaganda doesn't make a great film (indeed, I prefer my films to be light on the propaganda aspect)... but I'm wondering what you think the message of this film is? I thought it was pretty historically truthful, as far as movies go. I'm guessing you think it is either pro-religion or anti-religion..? I've seen both opinions of this movie many times...
