"Shame the dog doesnt understand you" - Actually, dogs are very cleaver. They have an understanding of the context of what youre saying. So something said in a higher voice normally means doggy has done well, loud / stressed voice means doggy not done well.... etc. As far as commands go, a dog will hear "it", so we put the s infront so to us, we hear Sit. The dog wont understand what that means, just that the "it" means to lower the bum to the floor etc.
While we lay on the ground waiting for the ambulance our dog, thrown from the car, ran across the highway. He was last seen running into the woods. We were on a trip to the vets for a routine checkup. Baron was in the backseat with his nose out the window. His favorite! The carrier, in the floorboard, made it home. Baron was never found again. It was heartbreaking as he was a rescue brought home from a Greek Island and had no idea how to survive inland USA. Wish we'd used a doggy seatbelt. :(
@qawwalification OMG... that's so sad. I'm so sorry! Hopefully nobody was hurt too bad. I've looked at those seat belts before but I think it's easier to crate in a car. Whenever I go anywhere with Henry now that's a long drive we keep him crated in the car.
Such a CUTE doggy, and not fat like lots of the ones I see. It's soooo cute to see a fat wiener dog but it's totally not healthy for them as they tend to have back problems etc. by genetics and it just amplifies these issues. This might be the best funny/cute combination I've ever seen!

@plhs987 I understand your concern, but if you were to see 10% of what I did when I was on the road, you'd worry more about the 4-wheelers aka regular drivers out there. I've seen it all, eating, drinking, talking on cell phone, putting on make-up, having sex, reading newspapers and magazines, watching movies... You name it. At least OTR drivers are held to strict standards and regulations. Darn near anyone can get a personal driver's license and drive as many hours as they want.
Oh my... as a fellow Dachsie owner, I can relate to the fact that they can sleep pretty much anywhere...but Henry takes the cake!! hahaha... He is ADORABLE... hahaha! Thanks for posting!!!!
this is what i like to see... a healthy doxie! a lot of people love their doxies to death by overfeeding them when this is really a healthy weight... it is hard to resist giving them everything they want with those puppy eyes, though!
@demimydoxie Thanks for this comment! I try so hard to keep Henry at a healthy wait. It's not easy as you said. It's so sad to see overweight doxies! I had a foster for a couple of months recently. He weight 27lbs when we got him. In less than a month with short walks and a proper diet he had lost 10lbs!! He had extra skin hanging everywhere. He was 10yrs old and it was amazing the pep he got back in his step after the weight was gone!
@KayBeeStew I don't know why people over feed them. I saw one at the dog park who had to be at least 20 or 30 pounds. he was sooooooo round. He was too fat to run all he could do was waddle. Cute little guy, I hope the owner got him to a healthy weight.

Did your foster lose the skin or always have it after that?

If there was a wreck that hurt Henry up on the dashboard odds are we'd ALL be dead and it wouldn't matter. Be more concerned about people that drive 4-wheelers (aka cars, SUVs, trucks, etc) that read, put on make-up, change clothes, talk on the cell phone, etc. They are the much worse problem than a dog on the dashboard of big truck sleeping and not bugging anyone. Do you have any idea the SIZE of these trucks? Henry was like 4ft away from me as I drove and he slept.

You're not kidding there. I live in Birmingham AL and it is not uncommon at all to see people drive around eating KFC with the box propped up on their stomach and steering wheel. Should be some kind of law.

He is adorable but that is really not safe for him to be right there when your driving. If there is a wreck he could be seriously hurt, it's not safe at all. Please don't do that again as adorable as it is!

If there was a wreck that hurt Henry up on the dashboard odds are we'd ALL be dead and it wouldn't matter. Be more concerned about people that drive 4-wheelers (aka cars, SUVs, trucks, etc) that read, put on make-up, change clothes, talk on the cell phone, etc. They are the much worse problem than a dog on the dashboard of big truck sleeping and not bugging anyone. Do you have any idea the SIZE of these trucks? Henry was like 4ft away from me as I drove and he slept.

Love all the comments about this not being safe. Do you people realize how BIG that dashboard is? When I'm driving he's like 4ft from me. It's like riding in a camper. Besides... how much safer is it than people that read the newspaper while driving, talk on their cell phones, apply make-up, eat, change clothes? C'mon... just enjoy the video. =)

You're not kidding there. I live in Birmingham AL and it is not uncommon at all to see people drive around eating KFC with the box propped up on their stomach and steering wheel. Should be some kind of law.

I love Henry! He is too cute. After watching this, I told my husband I should drive a truck so I can take my Dachshunds (we have 2) to work with me and he just ignored me. ;-)
