@jakeb1997 At the time it was on the air/in production it was (just a possible future) and it was it's own continuity more or less (Return of the Joker not flashbacks and such aside). It's addition to the dcau was long after the series ended. I won't say it was an afterthought because we don't know how soon after the Justice League show debuted that BB or Static were going to be incorporated the way that they were.

@WarriorSmurf At the time of production, it was definitely intended and pitched as a continuation of the two Bruce Timm-shows, Batman and Superman (and New Batman) that were all tied together by crossovers. The show featured callbacks and references to both shows, and was definitely in the same world.

Later, when JL was created, there may have been some question of it putting Batman Beyond out of continuity, but they decided to leave it in (and added Static for good measure).

@TimThomason Yeah, thanks. I re-read up on this subject after my previous post and actually forgot that I posted in here, lol. On one of the JL dvd's, Timm mentioned that there was some question as to whether or not JL would continue the continuity of the dcau shows that preceded it. By that point, they had free reign to use what they'd introduced in previous shows. It worked out fine though I wish JLU hadn't gotten cancelled so early. Batman:TBATB at least continued the tradition.
