  • Man that bird barely made it.

  • 114 hoppers?

  • That's an enormous train, my good!!!

  • OOPS sorry, I meant to give you a PLUS!!

  • thanks for your comment anyway do you know how fast this bnsf is going

  • 40-50 mph

  • wow here the max is 50 in very few areas it sucks

  • at the time this was taken our speed our max speed on a loaded grain train was 45 it was raised to 50 a couple of weeks ago.

  • ya thats fast for a train

  • the cargo trains over here aren#R half that long... but they move a bit faster :)

  • Am I missing something here? What is so interesting about a freight train going by? We see these about 42 times a day near Chicago and they all seem very similar and make the same noise.

  • Some people aren't as lucky as you.

  • Lucky? It is unusual that you say that--these long freight trains immensely tie up traffic on LaGrange Road. The horn sound in the wee hours is romantic in a Dali-esk sort of way, rending the night into multiple segments of sleep, and the bulk loads of coal heading east 3 times a day are a constant reminder of the major carbon footprint we are stomping on the atmosphere. Steam engines would be interesting, but these massive, brutish diesels are just greasy machines...

  • jj - imagine how congested streets & highways would be if we didn't have trains like this to move cargo.

imagine the carbon footprint we'd be leaving if every load of coal, dry goods, food, & other freight were being transported by a single diesel truck.

this is the living history of America. how this country grew & prospered during good & bad times.

it's too bad you're unable to appreciate it.

beautiful video ... my dad was a train buff & he would've adored this.

  • Well, for most of people, trains are just annoying things, making a lot of noise and blocking traffic. For railfans, it's an object of fascination, because of the mghty power of these machines.

I just don't know why it's like that; I like to see a train going by, period.

  • That's way long!!

  • damn that a long train

  • Great stuff man.

  • Thanks
