If you went to Orange High(Idk about Cedar Ridge) they now have a GSA(Gay/Straight Alliance) I think it was established last school year, 2009-2010 was my freshman year. Idk about the prom thing, if two homosexual people can go together and get a discounted price. I may look into it this year, because of junior senior prom, but I'm not openly bisexual. I mean if people ask me, I'll tell em. But they have made a GSA and I think a lot of teachers are supportive about it.

The high school that I graduated from had the same views on homosexuality. I live in a really conservative town, and our school district didn't have a lot of money. What money we did have for extra activities (such as prom) came from sponsors--conservative local business owners or groups. I feel like this influence kept our school from having any kind of clubs for gays. I'm sure with your high school the case is the same.
I think it's amazing how you try to make change within your school and advocate for what you think is right. You'll go far with an attitude like that ! :)

I havent heard of this issue from my school, but Carson City is pretty okay about it. The student council is a bitch, but 30% of the 5000 people in my high school are eather gay ot they act it, so no one causes alot of touble. I hope these sorts of things can get resolved, though. I don't see why it maters so damn much to everyone.
My school had the same exact rule and gave the exact same excuse but it was finally changed this year. One gay couple went and the over all reaction was fine, no one caused problems at the dance but then the monday after the prom sucked... Tons of students complained amongst themselves and said how sick it was and thought they should bring the old rule back =( the school has a long way to go but at least we have made a step forward =)
I agree, gay couples should be allowed to a discount. Schools are not aloud to force you to participate an any religious ceremonies, because that would be against part of the first amendment. They can teach about religion, but they can't claim any religious ideas as facts, sense most of the ideas have no evidence backing it up.
The school I go to let's same sex couples go, even just as friends. It makes sense if you just want to go as friends. You may aswell go as a couple and get cheaper tickets

If you went to Orange High(Idk about Cedar Ridge) they now have a GSA(Gay/Straight Alliance) I think it was established last school year, 2009-2010 was my freshman year. Idk about the prom thing, if two homosexual people can go together and get a discounted price. I may look into it this year, because of junior senior prom, but I'm not openly bisexual. I mean if people ask me, I'll tell em. But they have made a GSA and I think a lot of teachers are supportive about it.

I agree. I have tried at my school to get a gay straight alliance and I have tried to help some of the people that were being picked on for being gay, but none of the teachers or faculty at my high school would do anything about it. I was also very vocal during the day last year o wear purple in remembrance of the teens that killed themselves and i got a ton of crap for it. My principal called me down to the office to tell me that what I did was drawing the wrong type of attention and he didn't

I pretended I was gay once so I could go to a gay bar with some of my friends... Was that really so bad of me? I mean, they were gay, so it was either I pretend I was gay or I go home :S Still, your school sounds like it sucks! Come to England! The high school that I graduated from had the same views on homosexuality. I live in a really conservative town, and our school district didn't have a lot of money. What money we did have for extra activities (such as prom) came from sponsors--conservative local business owners or groups. I feel like this influence kept our school from having any kind of clubs for gays. I'm sure with your high school the case is the same.

I havent heard of this issue from my school, but Carson City is pretty okay about it. The student council is a bitch, but 30% of the 5000 people in my high school are eather gay ot they act it, so no one causes alot of touble. I hope these sorts of things can get resolved, though. I don't see why it maters so damn much to everyone.

My school had the same exact rule and gave the exact same excuse but it was finally changed this year. One gay couple went and the over all reaction was fine, no one caused problems at the dance but then the monday after the prom sucked... Tons of students complained amongst themselves and said how sick it was and thought they should bring the old rule back =( the school has a long way to go but at least we have made a step forward =)

I agree, gay couples should be allowed to a discount. Schools are not aloud to force you to participate an any religious ceremonies, because that would be against part of the first amendment. They can teach about religion, but they can't claim any religious ideas as facts, sense most of the ideas have no evidence backing it up.
