Proof is in the pudding, I've been lifting for over 20 years, I've only used dumbbells, it worked for me. And YES, women can get bulky, for a woman... Look at women bodybuilders, they're not little by any means. It all depends on what you consider bulky I guess, I for one like to be smaller, sculpted and feminine.
@livfitfitness Females generally don't produce enough male hormones to truly get bulky like the female body builders. That's were the steroids come on. Though I don't consider using roids cheating, you still have to put the full effort into the work out. But you will not look like Iris Kyle (Miss Olympia) with out roids.
This goes to all you women out there. If you want to actually see some results in your lifetime. Train heavy. You will not get big. You will get lean. Training with light weights is a waste of time - your body will not respond to it. Go read a book instead. The weight room is not reserved for men only.
"I don't need heavy weights. My goals, and for most women, we just wanna be lean and tone, we don't want the big huge muscles"
This is a myth that, for some reason, simply won't die. It's kind of sad because you (and countless other women) are just wasting your time. It is IMPOSSIBLE for women to get huge. This is not sexism, it's biology. The female body doesn't produce as much testosterone as the male body. Unless you take steroids, there is no chance of you ever becoming a Hulk !
Thanks for sharing. You mention Craigslist and Garage Sale finds. I have propably increased my own home gym free weight plate by about 467 pounds no including the 3 bars and dumbell handles and an additonal bench from garage sales for a total of about $45.oo. You have to ask and be willing to walk away. I love garage sales as people want to get rid of their stuff and I am willing to buy it. The secret is being willing to walk away though. Nice gym and you look great for 50. Keep it up.
It's almost insulting - us men are busting our f*cking asses to get bigger. A lot of us resort to taking steroids because they're unwilling to wait for years and years.
But women train with light weights because they're scared of becoming huge. What an irony! I wish, I WISH as a man, it were that easy to get big!
@livfitfitness very cool. if you are promoting that drink i suggest you put a live link in your info on this page. its not live right now and you will miss out on link juice which helps your google ratings. Also, the bottle and the label do not look commercial at all.
haha did someone ask you to advertise that drink XD cuz you're holding it with the label facing us so we can see what it is :) nothing wrong with that of course.....and I love your gym ^_^
Thank you blueparrot, I love my gym! ClassicSlayer, you can get huge mirrors at your local home improvement stores or look up mirror shops in your area, they have to be special ordered. Clikckik, I have Liv Sxinney, a chlorophyll drink in my water bottle - I love it! BTW, I'll be making another home gym video very soon regarding which equipment I have in my gym, sorry it's taken longer than anticipated pr0ject1le, I'll let you know once I get around to doing it... =)
Thanks! I'm glad you like my gym... I'll make another video this week giving details of each piece of equipment I have. I'm excited for you ~ having a home gym is awesome! :)
This may be the first time I'm commenting here but this gym is exactly what I'm going to re-create when I move into my new home! If you don't mind me asking, what are the make/models of that bench, dumbbells rack and bike? Inspirational stuff as always!
Thanks guys... Siplygarnett, you can buy less expensive dumbbells at Walmart or Taget, you don't have to buy all of them at once either, you can just buy a couple of sets and add to them as you progress in strength. A home gym really can be done on almost any budget...
Thanks blueparrot10 ~ No it's a Hoist, it came with the cage gym. My husband and I love it, I highly recommend Hoist to anyone wanting a solid, well built cage gym.
@kissntellen I love my bike, I do all my emails with my laptop while I'm riding, an hour goes by before I know it and I can multi task, it's great! =)
Hello Carol: What do you think burns more calories fast-walking or stationary bicycle? because i have a home gym and a stationary bicycle. But i get bored using the stationary bicycle, so i prefer to walk around my house for 45 minutes after the weight training in my home gym
hahhahahha ugly. Actually I'm not very bad looking at all, often described as masculine & I do say I like the odd tatt.
The point of my post was that nothing happens on a treadmill, your effectivly not moving & I perosonally viewed it a less productive way of achieving a goal.
& how cute your stalking me :) makes me fall all warm & fuzzy inside to know I affected you enough to have you follow me online :D
@maxistsocialist Thanks for your question, I highly recommend the bike, do interval training to burn the most calories in the least amount of time. If you need to keep your mind busy (like I do) read a book or read your emails with a lap top, that's what I do each morning and I love it! Good luck!
@maxistsocialist I recommend using the stationary bicycle doing interval training. I get bored too, so I use my laptop and reply to emails while I'm biking to keep my mind busy. I set my bike on intervals so I burn more calories. Be sure you keep a hand towel with you so you can wipe off sweat during your training. I sweat big time so I have to be careful not to sweat on my computer when I'm riding hard. Hope this helps, happy training! =)
i love you carol i am so glad you are going to introduce some of your workouts. it seems like you were listening to me today i said to myself i wish carol will have some introductory about her workouts and there you are open you tube and found you. so i am ready............
You're a doll! Thank you for your kind words. I'm excited to start sharing my passion of health and fitness through video... I'll have more videos up very soon! Thanks again! =)
