Eh, I like Mate well enough, but Tamas Mester, aka the OTHER Hungarian death (ignoring, for the moment, Szilveszter Szabo, since I don't like him all that much. :P) will always be my favorite.

Uwe is my second fav, and then probably Mate. My major problem with Mate is that he always seems really ticked off in the show, and its hard to be seductive and angry at the same time. :P

Hmm I'm not sure that I agree with you about the angry/seductive part. I like that Mate shows Death in this light. After Elisabeth rejects him, his pride is hurt and he gets angryer as she rejects him time and again untill he is so insulted that he rejects her in return after Rudolf's suicide. And I don't think Death is normally used to being rejected so, I actually approve of the way Mate pictured it all.

No, I totally agree with what you're saying. My point is that I see it as a more emotional and less seductive performance. While his portrayal makes sense in the way you describe it, it didn't strike me as beings quite as sexy as the more cold, emotionless Deaths are is all. :)
