For the longest time I'd thought that my grandpa had fought in WWII, turns out that it was actually his brother fought in that war, it was my grandpa that fought in Korea. Hm...
Today would have been my Grandfathers 80th BD....He passed away last June....Thank you grandpa for you service in this terrible war and all you earned for our family.
@watthefaack Uh,sand nigger?I'm American and we HAVE nuked others.Your fucked up 3rd world country probably dont even have indoor plumbing let alone a nuclear weapon.
One of the biggest mistakes the USSR made was to boycott the UNSC in 1950. Had they been present, they could have vetoed the resolution for imperialist intervention in Korea, and Korea could have become a united Socialist state. The division of Korea was incredibly stupid, because the north is a barren, mountainous region with no resources and little farmland. Under siege as it is now, it means poverty and food shortages are inevitable. A united Socialist Korea wouldn't have this problem.
@RedBannerOfThePeople You make good points RedBanner but it is always easy to look back in history and judge. If the north and south made attempts to cooperate and form a coalition government instead of fighting each other in a bloody war we would not have a divided Korea today
Why don't you go and fuck yourself... North Korea was the industrialized part following the Japanese occupation. It also had far more resources such as coal and gold. In 1950, North Korea's GNI per capita was twice as high as South Korea, and North Korea was richer than South Korea until 1974.
So your thing about how North was destined to be poor is a load of bullshit. North is poor because it chose all the wrong policies. South would be too, if it lost the Korean War.
the South Koreans really did an amazing job turning their country around since the War. and the North Koreans well, . . . they put out some highly entertaining propaganda. I'm guessing lunafringe could work for them.
this is the shittiest documentary I've ever seen on the subject and has some astounding inaccuracies and factless claims. also this fucking music from some american porn focusing on asian fetishes. disliking this piece of shit video.
@cpsunnyrain. You do realize that one of the biggest holdups to a ceasefire was that so many chinese POWs didn't want to go back. The Chinese were insisting they be sent back and Truman thought it was wrong. eventually, they settled on nobody had to go back unless they wanted and thousands of chinese stayed a couple of michael moores stayed in china.
i just know there were also so many chinese sodiers lost they life in the concentration camp in korea! and they were forbidden back the country and they finally were forced to taiwan. But all the american can go home as they wishied!
my grandfather served for over 30 years in the US army and fought and lived through this war. told me some crazy stories of 3 foot rats festing on dead soldiers which they later had to use the flamethrowers to clear out bunkers filled with them.
Korea was always trampled by the other bigger nations and was up for grabs?? That is just about as inaccurate as to say that USA has always been the bitch of the UK.
Young Americans always give their bodies to defend liberty around world... against tyrants, terrorists, nazis, communists, islamists and evil dictators. Free people everywhere should be grateful for this great nation. God bless the USA!
@dudeismyname2 McArthur said in his memoirs he wanted to drop 30-50 atomic warheads in Manchuria. Even if that didn't provoke an atomic attack on Europe (and eventually America) by Stalin, that could have made East Asia uninhabitable. McArthur subverted Truman's authority. The President is commander in chief and is obliged by the Constitution to sack a disobedient military subordinate
@PurpleAlligatorSoup i cant explain it but its the same as saying i bought one of your friend's trust for a candy during a war. its like a type of race feeling.
MacArthur was a genius to land at Inchon and should have been given total freedom of action and support for his plans. Instead, the American government took the cowards way out with a compromise 'solution' similar to in Vietnam. Modern American military policy is based on appeasement of enemies rather than victory over them. As the years go on, apathy grows. Patton must be having a fit of cussing and yelling in his grave.
Oh, no, wait! That wouldn't have worked! The US would have kept sendig troops and troops and troops until all Korea was in ruins. China knew when to stop. The US should learn.
@richardcwood1 Sure, involve yet another country. Maybe China had nothing to do there, but neither did the US. Wanna know what would have ended the war, as well? Let China do whatever it wanted with the US.
Uhh, I'm no war expert but I can easily see that splitting a country into two parts and imposing Capitalism in one and Communism in the other is going to stir some serious shit. Militaty Industrial Complex anyone? Maybe that's why we just skimmed over the Korean war in school.....
just 1,987 views and 3 comments ? *sighs*.... this was the best war documentary i ever seen and i respect those veterans that went through hell over pretty much the bad decisions of others.
