  • check out my brother on stupreme! Fun musician guy, sooo talentd,,Tim Stuart

    works at Vons on Governor

  • I like how the music sends of the message of "Take my hand and trust me. We'll go far together." Fitting. Message received!

  • I really really really really really like the music, too bad its probably commissioned and there is no available download :(

  • Ok this song sounds excruciatingly familiar, especially the first 15 seconds. Can anyone please help me out, it's beginning to drive me bonkers.

  • Does anyone know what the music is? I'd love to know if it was a larger piece or if the artist has more work I could check out.

  • @zxThisGuyxz the problem I have as a small business owner is that this money is being loaned back out to people with interest which means that $35 is going to cost the business exponentially over the course of the loan. The other issue is that Starbucks is posing their campaign as a "Charity" not what it really is which is an investment - I think it's deceiving the public.

  • @TheRocLok You know.....you're actually right. I looked into it a bit more and on the createjobsforUSA website it said that it was a loan to companies (paraphrased of course). This implies interest on the loan so in a sense you're right. I do believe that it is still beneficial to small businesses trying to get off the ground because they need capital and can't supply it all themselves. And the interest on the loan is something that the business can cover in the long run.

  • Very well done! Inspiring! Small business is the backbone of our economy and if the government can't support it then it is up to us.

  • Did I read 'Chase'? Was all set to donate til I saw that five-letter word. Sorry. Let Jamie Dimon give up some of his 2011 multimillion dollar executive bonus.

  • I'm really disappointed in this new campaign. If Starbucks and Chase were giving the donated money to small business owners that is one thing but to charge interest and make money on the publics donations is a deplorable attempt to make money on the Made in the USA movement. If the public really wants to support small businesses give that $5 to them directly instead of sporting an imported bracelet that says you support this cause.

  • @TheRocLok I think you missed the point.....In the description it says that if you donate $5 then they give $35, so therefore it is more beneficial to the small businesses to go through Starbucks.

  • I dont have the $5 to donate because I am underemployed. I don't even have funds to buy dinner for tonight. Maybe someone can from Starbucks or the small businesses that get the money could hire me.

  • @darin917 if you don't have the funds for dinner, then why are you paying for internet, better yet, why are you on here watching youtube videos when you should be out searching for a job.

  • @p35kyg0d I was looking for jobs. I also use Twitter for my job search and noticed the tweet and followed the you tube video. FYI I use the internet and computer at the local community college library. You need to pray more.

  • okay everyone think starbucks is so expensive and like they're selling $5 coffees. thats not the case. they are having a buy one get one free for the rest of the month on any size or type of holiday drink. i just bought a coffee for 2.50 today and plus they use all real and natural ingredients with recycled cups and napkins. plus on many coffe and drinks they donate money to fantastic causes like this one. i am truly proud to say that i eat and drink there, and that i am wearing this wristband.

  • @NatXNews they end up selling MORE coffee when they do that, and hence make more money that day. Same concept as Black Friday.

  • @RalphCQ it doesnt matter if they make more, the coffee's still cheap and high quality

  • @NatXNews If you say so.

I don't think their coffee is that great, personally.

  • @RalphCQ eh its alright. everyone has their likes and hates

  • @NatXNews Well, if they support creating more jobs for American people, then I have respect for them.

  • Where are the bracelets manufactured? America or China?

  • @popup82 They are made in the USA. I bought one last week so I know.

  • @popup82 america of course! proud to wear one :D

  • THUMBS UP IF @GiulianaRancic SENT U HERE<3

  • Shultz is a mastermind. He puts a $5 collection jar out and becomes a hero driving his sales through the roof. I am trying to talk my boss in to doing the same thing at our place of business. Amazing how a company can control an industry and create a massively distorted commdoity market but because it is not oil but coffee, they are heroes. He can make a 500% profit on a cup of coffee while his supporters protest some companies make less than 10% margins.

  • good idea

  • too bad i live in europe..

  • I see a problem with this StarBucks, how can we donate $5 in which 5 bucks can be crucial to quite a lot of us to create jobs for small businesses, in which go out of business due to big corporate business?

  • @iSkate7104 well if you own a small business dont donate, apply to receive help!

  • @Starbucks... another of the many reasons I love your company, your people, your CEO and your coffee. Thank you for trying something new, for doing something positive and for taking some action!

  • Haters gonna hate and doubt. I suggest for those to go and read about the program at the website mentioned in the video. It's a venture between Private and non-profit organizations.

  • Great approach! Like from Germany!!!

  • @Starbucks, thanks for stepping up!

  • like the music xD

  • Who actually gets the money? Where does it end up? Whats the chain from the starbucks, it goes to..... Via.......

  • Starbucks donating $5 million is nothing, they are selling $5 dollar coffees. They seem generous, but it doesn't even constitute a drip in the bucket...why can't they do something that really makes a difference? I bet there are employees(upper management) that get close to $5 million dollars, in bonuses. #occupystarbucks

  • @21bunruh My coffee from starbucks today cost $1.50. They are very socially responsible; most other companies would not even promote this idea. They are pulling up 5 mill

  • @21bunruh You already sound like a ranting fool, bitching but offering no real solution but that hash tag, on a YouTube comment mind you, sealed your ignorance.

  • For real amarica just isent amarica anymore were going to the shits at least one big business is trying :)

  • @Loverjackie "...were going to the shits..." one grammatical error at a time.

  • I love starbucks its my little treat for doin good :) I think u guys are atleast trying an im proud and I wanna bracelet right now :)

  • Thats really cool

  • ~ Awesome ~ !!!

  • kinda funny that they are doing this when Starbucks can't even hire me

  • I'm from Holland, and I'm about to donate 5$ to your fantastic country. Hmmm,

  • Why not just cut military spending?

  • Leadership at the business level - wake up you folks in Washington DC and take a leadership lesson! Go Starbucks!!!

  • I find it interesting that those with such negative comments lack the ability to educate themselves enough by researching the truth. If you did your research you will know that the money raised will be donated to two non profit organizations that give low interest rate loans to business that can guarantee the ability to hire more employees. Research has shown that when a Sbux store opened next to a mom & pop store, the M&P store increased in same store sales by over 50%. Please do your research!

  • As we are jobless, we need those $5.00. That'll buy 20 pkgs ramen noodles!

  • As a Starbucks store manager, I have to say that I'm incredibly proud to work for a company that is at least trying to do something positive. For those who have negative comments, please do more research. You really don't know what you are talking about. To those seeking jobs, maybe you are not qualified to be a Starbucks partner. Those who commented on the layoffs, well those resulted in the saving of tens of thousands of jobs.

  • I have a better idea....spend $5 with your local independant sales consultant. We are your neighbors, and your friends. We provide a quality product, and we go above and beyond to get and keep our customers! As an independant consultant, I also provide jobs. I am recruiting everyday for enthusiastic people to join to my join.

  • "Local, communtiy coffee shops" really did not exist before Starbucks essentially created the market for them. Independent shops that exist in neighbourhoods where Starbucks open typically see an increase in their customers, not a push to be out of business. How frustrating when one of the few larges companies that has a soul is criticised by people that just don't want to spend a minute and educate themselves... what type of company you support is the biggest catalyst for change in the USA!

  • @sketchy554 Ha ha! I just posted something similar! I totally feel you! It's amazing how little people actually research before forming an opinion.

  • @junemaeven Yes, I see that now! It is amazing indeed! Forming opinions is definitely easy, but trying to base those opinions on real information is, well, inconvenient :)

  • Let's not forget Starbucks was the 12th largest company in the US who had to lay off employees because of their own greed. Number of jobs cut since recession began: 21,316.

Get real people - $5MIL is a drop in the bucket in comparison to the 3-5 BILLION that was saved. HELLO!!

    See full article from DailyFinance:

  • I have to wonder how this money will lead to sustainable jobs any more than the stimulus money did. It's business conditions that need to change.

  • @lmelwell while you are wondering, I hope you take a minute to thank a company CEO who is actually doing something about it, trying something, taking some action while not badmouthing anyone or anything else. If every CEO followed his lead, we would have a the Occupy movement we need - Occupy Imagination!

  • I wanted a job at starbucks since I was 16 years old. I'm 18 now. Still waiting...

  • I honestly thought it was going to be a whole "We're hiring x amount of workers." But this is incredibly stupid.

  • Starbucks- so are you going to hire the folks who are out of work & probably can no longer afford your coffee with all of the $5 bucks u r getting??

  • Who would've thought that Starbucks would save the US? Thank you I will donate

...THIS IS THE PART WHERE EVERY OTHER BIG COMPANY IN AMERICA DOES THE SAME THING OR DONATES AND SAVES AMERICA....just saying

  • Looking forward to more details. Kudos, Starbucks.

  • ...WRISTBANDS!? Sold.

  • HOPE!

  • to support every growing small business except.............. independent coffee shops.

  • @theACEcrew and all the other naysayers-If you have ever studied the coffee industry, you'd know that Starbucks created the market for specialty coffee. If that market had not been created your local, indy and Mom & Pop shops would have no business case. People forget that Starbucks was a small local business. BTW, Starbucks has always spent more on their health care than their coffee- clearly, there's more to them than you realize.

  • @junemaeven Except in Seattle...where they'd have been commonplace with or without Starbucks. ;) But, elsewhere, you're probably right.

  • @junemaeven I'd be more likely to put some thought to your opinion if you had previously worked for the company, and had also spent a incredible amount of effort into opening a fully researched independent . Starbucks can't afford to buy the good portion of the crop, they can't hand tamp or grind fresh, they can't go back to quality. Camaraderie with things like an upcoming election is their future of expansion. Independent is valued by people who actually care about what their drinking.

  • @theACEcrew why would any company support their competition? independent or not.

  • @azn1011 Because we all have niches--there is no real competition.

  • @VtRD even if that were true, that doesn't mean that it's the responsibility of one business to keep another business afloat.

  • Great idea....... but BUY AMERICAN too!

  • This is quite remarkable.

From the corporation that mastered the art of putting local, community coffee shops out of business is a foundation to now support those very folks that they pushed out of nearly every major town and city in the United States of America.

Notice the advertising is all in red, white and blue. Brilliant, honestly.

  • @forMyfriendswLOVE

This is true, but that's going to be expected either way, face it with the way things are in America now, everything just a battle for more money now. Any business that gets too big is always going to crush the others who couldn't keep up, since America loans and never gives, that won't change.

  • @forMyfriendswLOVE it's called free enterprise. don't like it? move to Cuba.

  • To REALLY make this work, we all need to start BUYING AMERICAN MADE PRODUCTS!!!!

  • Who did the graphics on this?

  • Starbucks FTW!

  • How come I've applied twice, with over 2 years Barista experience...and havent even gotten as much as a call back from Starbucks.

  • Why doesn't Starbucks hire one more barista in some of their busier stores in the highest affected areas?

  • That animation was very well done.
