To be honest sligtly confusing talk. Probably it's a wonderful idea to convert classifier to metrics for faster indexing but it needs to have more straightforward explanation. Taking aside part 2 and 3, in first part speaker is converting digit classifier problem into metric problem then convert metric problem back to classifier problem and applies adaboost. I have a feeling that reformulations of the problem could be avoided and it might come just back to adaboost application.
