  • I was there... it was all about marxism.. killing anyone who didn't agree with bill ayers and the marxists... they had a plan, and now, here we are with their plan being implemented... my fear.. that too many people have lost their morals and have no ethics.. that they are self absorbed and lazy... that's what bill ayers gave the youth

  • It irritates me when people think this political awakening was a "hippie movement." I imagine some of them later wore flowers in their hair; but, these were bright intellectuals. The seeds had been planted by Rosa Parks and blacks who refused to drink at a "colored" fountain. But, It was the Berkeley students that ignited the various movements: black, feminist, and vets. Yeah Farakhan! White men and women risked arrest, violence, and death to free others from bondage.

  • @blueguitarblue It was a hippie movement in San Francisco but that moverment spawned the technology from the minds of Bill Gates, Steve Job etc... It also spawned the green movement and natural food movement....

  • @tunbev thanks! Including Green Peace? Maybe some of these students later BECAME hippies; but, this movement was an intellectual one, as is usually the case in civil matters. That's why at the onset of war, one of the first populations to be murdered and/or arrested is the intellectuals. Of course there are workers' movements, which might be called "blue collar." I'm curious at to how the geek, Bill Gates, was inspired by the hippies? :)

  • Should have fuckin floored it through those ass holes.

  • These fucking hippies are the reasons why Cuba and Vietnam, two beautiful countries, are now both communists with over 100 million people suffering.

  • @Microglia1 its better than those patriotic true Americans that oppressed the people of cuba, honduras, guatemala, iran, bolivia, dominican republic, panama, egypt, jordan, haiti

  • Absolutely shocking as to how the UC students protested for five years over the simple fact of freedom of speech and were denied. Even worse, the U.S. government didn't step in and bail them out (as what my Mom said, they can bail the big banks and Michigan car companies but they can't exercise first amendment rights?!?). And to think: This would never happened had it been for President Kennedy getting killed in Dallas-because when it comes to the 60's, it goes back to 'that day in November'.

  • protests in the 60s had meaning and were about change. Todays protest's are just a opportunity to wear your new che guevarra shirt, buffalo sandals and crochet handbag. It's a farce

  • overpriviledged kids bitching about nothing, sad to know these hippie fags control parts of the country

  • ugh, hippies

  • I love you.

  • No good thing came of that, rather they encouraged rebellion against the Lord but really only opposing themselves (for who hath resisted His will?), and heaping upon themselves wrath against the day of wrath. Acts ch. 17 has the only right answer that these unsaved intellectuals were groping for, and the only message they were unwilling to consider. Glory to God that man Jesus, by whom the world will be judged.

  • @Occupy4now dude, you make us Christians look bad, just shut up, sit down, and go to church. Leave the protests to people with balls.

  • awesome

  • Just think now they are in Xsrael shooting Palestinians. They could not serve in Viet Nam but they don't mind serving in the IDF.

  • Could you imagine this happening today? These students would be subdued with tazers, pepper spray, authoritative stereo types, boy bands and watter boarding.

  • @richardcorsale

you should move into prison, where you will be safely tucked behind bars and all you have to do is give up your freedom. Pepper spray those who would protest against the killing machine, that THEY were called to die for, not the fat suits that gained, financially and politically from the nam war. you are what is badly wrong and sick about america. Stick to lipitor and viagra. You lost your understanding of freedom long ago, now you MUST do as the doctor says.

  • no time like the now delishmorton all together for once & for all

  • then and now, all a protest does is fuel the flames of repression. they want you to demonstrate! and theyll leave an old unit or two nearby hoping it will be trashed. then theyll go Brown Shirt on you! G20 Toronto was even more proof of that!!

  • too bad this generation doesn't do this everyday everywhere

  • @ultwarrior1 it really is only a matter of time. how long are people willing to put up with what they have to put up with. we can't rely on individual leaders to take us there. it must be a spontaneous, united front.

  • One of my favorite episodes in all of American cultural history. The notion of a group of Berkeley college students spontaneously seizing a police car by crowding around it and refusing to move is unbelievable, Standing on the roof of the patrol car to deliver orations on the nature of democracy in the 20th century is the hysterical pièce de résistance.

  • we watched this whole documentary in class. i was moved.

  • Berserkly, aka, "titty city".

  • we need more of this man, peacefull protest is the best way to get your points across

    drop acid not bombs

    peace and love

  • Its dead, so well done in the sixties its lost all its effectiveness. I don't mean that in a derogatory way, I respect all that went on, but the fact is that protests now are looked at as a big game, a farce, it doesn't work. No one cares about it anymore.

  • I think it might be because of this. "he/she who complains, must fix their own problems"

Maybe protesting is a form of complaining and not of informing or presenting.....lol or maybe I need to look up the definition of protesting, but that's how I veiw protesting.

  • @chichikov8 O.K. ...I see your point,....now how about tellin us all how to do it right??

B.T.W......some of us care about it anymore....a game?? sure, its fun as hell

  • @chichikov8 what about sit-ins?

  • @chichikov8 exactly..that's why we have to find a new way to do things..that doesn't involve violence!

  • @rastafari220 Drop acid? They what the Man wants you to do! There is nothing more pathetic and easy to control than a druggie. Look up the history of LSD.

  • need to get
