With all due respect to Debabrata Biswas (of whose Rabindrasangeet I am an admirer), I find the Shyamal Mitra version far superior.

This is not a statement to incite arguments, just a personal preference.

Probably bcoz of the music arrangement. In Shyamal Mitra's version guitar takes over from the antara and remains very loud throughout. The tempo is faster too. In case u have a music system/software that can suppress the music and allow only the vocals to be heard I'm sure u'll change ur view. Again not to contradict you.....just an opinion....kathar pithe katha

@vogchod: Debabrata. You should know that Debabrata, in the 50s especially, was far more popular for adhunik bangla gan and ganosongit than Tagore's songs. The greatest example will be Salil Chowdhury's "Abaak Prithibi", which is originally sung and made popular by Debabrata, although our generation relates this song with Hemanta (which is a far later recording). Other examples will be "Alor Pathojatri".

Personally, Debabrata is a far better Ganosangit singer than the more popular Hemanta......

Debobrotor golay aagey adhunik gaan shuni ni. This is the first one. Robindronaath Bhogobaan, but Debobroto is no less Bhogobaan. One is incomplete without the other. Like Raam and Hanumaan.
