  • Uhm. Is this lady running in 2016?! She would be the best president.

  • This was one of the most important and soon to be most quoted speeches in History. Mrs. Clinton has made tremendous strides as a woman and as a person in her lifetime and is now using her compassion, integrity, belief, faith, and position to instill simply what is right for humanity. From one of the least liked persons in politics; she has emerged to become a beacon of light for the entire world. Had we been smart enough as a people, she would be our President today instead of Mr. Obama.

  • THIS SPEECH SHOULD BECOME AND BE NAMED THE BEST SPEECH OF THE CENTURY LIKE M. LUTER KING'S WAS. That brings new hope to new world without hatred and violence at time we stand before new crosspoint 2012.

  • Hillary is the best of all the best women in history.

  • Why cant the UK have Clinton as our prime minister, i have a new found love for her :)

  • Wow, she got a standing ovation! My idol! \o/

  • This is just perfect!

  • Hillary would've been a strong president for us...

  • Wow! What an amazing and impassioned speech! One of the best speeches I've ever heard in my lifetime. Love it!

  • Clinton 2016!

  • There is proof she works toward these goals. Uganda rightfully got a bitch slap by her. It was a no brainer, we give millions in support every year to Uganda, without it, they would have to eat their own to survive. very effective way to Kill institutionalized hate.

  • The fact that some people in the audience look bored amazes me.

  • If bombing and killing 10's of thousands of civilians every year, supporting sanctions that deprive children of food and medication and constantly lying to your own people and taking their rights away is classed as human rights then God bless the queen of human rights. :)

  • I give thanks to God the creator and sustainer of Heaven and earth for the ongoing progress toward the recognition of full human rights for all people everywhere.

Further, I believe it is the responsibility of government to establish and enforce law toward the protection of human rights for all, and that it is the responsibility of the people to ensure the government does so.

"Jesus said unto him, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mi

  • This is going to be one of the most important speeches in the human history. Thank you. For those who do not agree, I respect your opinions, but please do not be hateful.

We should choose to be on the right side of the history, or let your ignorance stands between it.

  • I honestly hope this speech becomes as legendary as the "I have a dream" speech

I know I will remember it forever

This feels like history in the making

  • I cried during the whole speech...it is so beautiful...

  • If I could "like" this video 50 million times, I would. Secretary Clinton--thank you.

  • AWESOME!!!!!

  • I hope I live to see the day when what we just heard now gets to usher a whole new generation in politics and government that get this rights, my rights, our rights to be respected fully and universally as it should be and as countries and cultures evolve to realize where the right path lies.

  • Do you know if this video can be found with subtitles in other languages? Specifically I'm looking for spanish subtitles.

  • @MJOliver84 I'm sorry, I don't. :-/

  • @MarcinCalifornia I keep looking. But the only ones I find are in bits a pieces. If you ever find the whole thing with subtitles, please let me know!

  • @MJOliver84 If somebody could find a full translation and provide the time codes, we could add it to this video. I've done that before, when I added the English translated subtitles to the Egyptian TV interviews with Wael Ghonim. It takes some work, but it can be done and I'd be willing to work with a Spanish speaker on it. Let me know if you're that person or know somebody who wants to. I have the full English transcript.

  • It is so awesome that homosexual discrimination is finally being recognized as a human rights issue. I never thought that would happen in my lifetime. This is truly wonderful.

  • Is there any hope she could run for president in 2012?

  • @Grow808 No.

  • @Grow808 i think alot of people wish so, but sadly, with an incumbent President from her own party, the chances dont look very good

  • I just can't help myself from seeing this video every single day after school. =D It's wonderful!

  • shes an amazing woman. we can argue about same sex marriage, but many countries do not even offer basic rights to lgbt citizens, and not is not ok.

  • That was an AMAZING speech.

  • Ahh i feel such respect....

  • I wish she would have given this speech while she was running for the presidency....but we all know the effect it would have had. I am encouraged by this speech and proud that it came from Hilary. She is an academic and civil rights leader and is deserving of the utmost respect. Thanks Hilary for eloquently stating the obvious...for bolding expressing and defending our rights as people. God bless you.

  • one day after this speech, Brazilian evangelical pastors fought against a law that criminalizes violence against gays. Because of them, the law was not approved, and homophobia was not turned crime. They claimed religious freedom, said there was no homophobia in Brazil (Brazil is the country that most kill LBGT in the world), and that gays want extra rights, to create a gay empire to rule the world. Thanks to them, the law was not approved.

There is mach more to do! Thanks, Hillary

  • She could had been such a wonderful president.

I hope she runs again, some time soon.

  • Man how i wish I was in that audeience that day... That was a great speech.. Even if this changed one person's mind.. It's progress... Gotta love Hillary Clinton <3....

  • Thank u Mrs.Clinton , you're THE ONE !!!!!!!!!! God blesses you !

  • Look at this speech, and then go watch Rick Perry's ad "strong"

Then honestly tell me that you're going to vote for a Republican. Just try.

  • Thank you Mrs Clinton! This is a profoundly moving, courageous and stirring speech. Please run for President in 2012! We need your humanity!

  • Something important is missing in Article 1 of the UN declaration of human rights:

"All human beings are born free and equal in rights, in first place the right to the body, inalienable, in its three dimensions of integrity, dignity and autonomy."

This excludes minors' sexual mutilation, male or female.

  • The reason LGBT Rights should be included in Foreign Aid is because of the role of Aid. AID is free money meant to help the poorest of the poor countries establish themselves as livable nations. When the US or UK puts restrictions on the aid - like no genocide, or respecting LGBT people - it is not a form of colonization or imperialism. It is putting limits on free money - to establish livable nations - livable for all people, free from terror.

  • When there are a group of ppl who are even forbidden from their first and most primary and rights like marriage and love, they would sure can be abused by ppl like clinton. So it is other ppl's duty to help LGBT ppl so that liberals can't abuse them..

Their love is not harmful to any one but their being abused can be.

  • She is so eloquent and poised. Most importantly she is aware. Being part of the LGBT community I commend her.

  • I'm so impressed that she did this. This is ballsy and wonderful.

  • FYI: Yes, I do remove any and all hateful comments. I'm not at all ashamed about doing so. Freedom of speech doesn't require me to help people spread their hate. They can do it on their own channels and forums.

  • @MarcinCalifornia I'm not sure that doing so is necessary, or even beneficial. When people get ugly, leave it for the world to see. Don't pick up after them. If they are embarrassed by the comment, let them live with it. If not, let it stand as a reminder to others how ugly it appears to others when one speaks that way. I the author is embarrassed and asks for it to be removed, by all means, do so. But I suspect that leaving such comments is the most productive thing to do.

  • @sbergman27 I'm of the opinion that it just results in yelling and flame wars. Nothing productive comes out of it and nobody's ashamed of their hatred because a) they believe it b) it's anonymous because of pseudonym usernames and c) there's no consequences. If you feel strongly about it, feel free to download the video & repost it to allow for such comments. I just choose not to facilitate it on the videos I post.

  • @MarcinCalifornia No. I don't feel terribly strongly about this. But I'm paying attention, these days, to opportunities for letting foolish people fall on their own swords. Part of that is learning when it is more effective *not* to respond, and to let their ugly words echo in the room. (But you have no control of others' responses.) And part is to allow them to continue to discredit themselves. I would simply make the suggestion that you keep that line of thinking in mind.

  • @MarcinCalifornia thank u xxxxxxxx

  • And you don't see her reading all she's saying off of a paper.

  • @MovieTrim there are usually teleprompters

  • This is one of the best human rights speeches I have seen/heard in a very long time. Countries like Uganda who are KILLING gay people........................need to be spoken to by a power country like the States. This is sick and horrible. Awesome speech Mrs. Clinton! <3

  • I wish that she would run for President....I would vote for her a million times

  • @FashionFunPJ I love Obama but would have been JUST AS HAPPY with Hillary tho I am Canadian we have a lot of interest in who runs our Mother country to the south............... she rocks!

  • Mrs. Clinton denied democracy, somewhere at 16:30, when she said that we need to change the law before discussion on that change even starts + she used manipulation saying that her opponents "fear changes" - that suggests they're just a bunch of irrational rednecks who don't understand obviousness. LGBT people are of course equal to us, but what UN is trying to do is to destruct all national cultures and establish one global culture, with one global law. and you people buy it. that's so hopeless

  • @1533you but they arent equal. People are denied jobs because they are gay, fired because they are gay and some are relentless bullied to the point where they kill themselves. Im sorry but where and how is that equal to you? Unless you are saying that straight people also go through this(which would be a first) because ive never heard a case about that.

  • @1533you promoting equality isnt destroying cultures.. i am currently in borneo where centuries ago head hunting was an acceptable culture up untill the the british and james brooke decriminalized it.. bad things gotta go no matter what the culture is

  • @1533you Laws shouldn't be based upon culture, nor should culture be based upon laws. Sadly, our history shows us otherwise and the fact that you fear culture changes frightens me more because I know there are many who share your opinions. I do believe that sometimes those who are elected needs to push the people who elected them. They trusted them in the moment they had the chance to make the vote, and they should stay beside their act as the elected changes the laws, within reason ofc

  • Wonderful speech! It is time for truth and love to prevail in this universe and not lies and hatred! Thank you Mrs. Clinton.

  • Mrs. Clinton: PLEASE RUN FOR PRESIDENT IN 2016 !!! You will always have my vote.

  • So inspireimg!

  • really the best speech someone ever held

she is so inspiring and clever

with such real words coming from her heart and not papers

i respect and thank her very much

  • Standing O.

    This speech brings me comfort.

  • Thank you Secretary Clinton. But what about the right for LGBT people to marry in the whole US?

  • Best speach I think I have ever heard on behalf of GLBT peoples.... God Bless her xxx

  • Wow, what an INCREDIBLE speech. Secretary Clinton, thank you for doing the right thing in choosing to stand up for our community. Indeed, history will honor YOU for a large number of reasons, and your championing of international human rights for LGBT people can now, officially, be added to that list. You are my new hero. Thank you for your bravery and openness -- this community won't soon forget it.

  • That was awesome! - I thank people like Mrs. Clinton, because of people like her i can live in a country that more or less accepts me for who I am, I still face some challenges such as being Gay and a Christian a lot of people can't accept that you can be both.

  • MercuryMay01 brought me here.

  • This was a truly amazing video. I tip my hat to Hillary and her words.

  • OMG!! What beautiful and great speech!

  • Ms Clinton, thank you. I think I love you

  • "please know you're not alone " that's touching

  • Has TVnews in your country reported this?

I thanks Youtube.. Italian TV is a shame

  • Thank you Hillary!!

  • What an inspiring woman! I deeply admire her!

She is a great role model - not just because of this speech but because of her strength to follow what she thinks is right no matter what other people might say.

I don't want to know what our world would be like without people who fight for equal rights, freedom, ...

  • Vote Hillary Clinton for the FIRST US WOMAN PRESIDENT!!! I'm so sad i'm in Asia and not in the US

  • Excellent speech - so refreshing to hear a politician talking common sense. I think she should run with Obama as his VP in 2012 [instead of Biden] & then be President in 2016 & 2020. To me, a truly inspirational politician, leader & individual.

  • I just love her, women should be very proud of her!

  • @hanks864 I love her too, but I disagree with you on one thing. Not only women shouldn't be proud of her, EVERYONE should. She is truly a excellent, motivational person and I think it's a shame that most other politicians can't be like her.

  • Bravo!

  • She is one amazing woman!

  • this is such an amazing speech, I agree with every word. Thank you Hillary and thank you for also acknowledging that the US is still behind the 8 ball on this too!

  • she has always..i mean always, even before she married Bill...Hillary is the same and has cared and cared thru out her entire career and her youg adult life. Before you judge her, then learn about her. She has books about her life and many others that have spoken about her or worked for her. Bill, fell in love with her because of many of these traits.

  • I had to make another to say it all.

I didn't tell my friends or family until I was 29, yes it was hard and emotional but I did it and I am so glad I did...Help the world help others...there are sad young boys and girls who need to know that they are ok and we are here for them when the need us.

  • Another Clinton hand helping those in need.

I'm 31, as an 8 yr old boy I learned that I liked boys, with in that week I also learned that it was wrong and not liked by others. from that day I learned how to shut my heart off and close the love for anyone off. For 20 years I lived that way, no girl friends no boy friends, it was almost like being cut up from the brain to the heart, those who have been where I have know how I feel.

  • @killerb1069 I congratulate you on being able to survive such strong heterosexism and hatred in our society. Some people who aren't like us can't appreciate what it's like to go two decades fighting who you are.

  • Finally! What a perfect speech. Keep on the good work, Hilary.

  • she should be our president.

  • fanfuckingtastic - didn't expect an American politician to show signs of literacy.

  • The biggest phony ever. Hillary has her eyes always on the prize. And she is constantly "dodging sniper fire" to get there. Another politician lost without a teleprompter and speechwriters. I am going to "trans-race myself." I don't like being black, so I've decided to become a white man. I have rights too.

  • If there's one thing that annoys me more than anything else, its when anti-gay ppl refer to gay rights as apocalyptic and claim that it will be the fall of Western Civilization....

This Democracy/Republic that you're so afraid of disintegrating, if gay ppl finally achieve human rights, was invented in the 1st place by a gay man, Cleisthenes in 508 BC, Greece. Read a book- buy a Kindle- whatever... just at least try to not sound like a total idiot.

  • Seriously? Stop hating on gay people. People talking about how its nurture not nature its just absolutely pointless. WHERE DO YOU THINK GAY PEOPLE ARE BORN FROM? STRAIGHT COUPLES YOU IDIOTS. So if you want to blame someone for homosexuality being around, blame straight people. And you know what? If gay people want to go have the "sacred" act of getting married only to divorce a month later for publicity and money like Kim Kardashian then let them. NOH8! Unite as a people.

  • Gay Rights are Human Rights! No one should be in jail because of love! Because of who you are! Because you are born that way! Straight people also don't choose to be straight, well, gay people neither! Respect the LGBT-community! Anti-gay laws must be repealed everywhere!

  • OMG what an amazing speech and woman. This goes down in history. Thank you Thank you Thank you Mrs. Clinton

  • To all you new age Christians out there. Times might be changing but God never does.

  • Very powerful speech from a very powerful woman..and I agree will make a great President

Please run again...we miss you Mrs. Clinton

  • ...to all the homophobes commenting on this. Whether you like it or not things are (luckily) changing so get over it!

  • "Those who advocate for expanding the circle of human rights, were and are on the right side of history, and history honours them. Those who tried to constrict human rights were wrong, and history reflects that as well."

    Love her.

  • Thank You Hillary!!! BE ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF HISTORY!!!!!!

    -D

  • SHE'S AWESOME!!!

  • Definitely an historic speech, reminiscent of the speeches of FDR, Kennedy, Reagan and Martin Luther King.

  • Amazing speech, amazing woman...would have made an AMAZING President!

  • I have just watched this amazing and well delivered speech. When it comes to a speech delivered by this woman eloquent is what it is. Not sure of the reason for the number of dislikes, though it is indeed their right to do so. A speech that seems to have well received given the standing ovation recieved for a very articulate speech. Thankyou Mrs Clinton

  • Those in bondage to perversion need safety but above all FREEDOM from perversion. Our Human Right is to live in a society free of perversion. This means HELPING homosexuals through love and respect. Retooling our society to accommodate perversion is insanity lgbt bashing of our society is out of control.

  • Ladyes and Gentleman, this is LEADERSHIP!

    Thanks Miss Clinton

  • You are our (LGBT) champion Mrs. Clinton, and indeed are on the "right side of history."

    Thank you!

  • well done :)))

  • Eloquently Written, Movingly and Memorably Delivered. Wish I had been there.

  • Excellent speech Hillary. Simple and straightforward. I'm proud to be from Colombia, a country that defends LGBT people and ensure their legal rights.

  • Its true, arabian countries recognized women's equal , and USA goverement need new preposition, but cost for their own peoples is so big , its very sad that politics play that card, it willl be big mistake if no one take measures to save society from discord and madness that this sexual freedomness ll bring.

  • Hooray!!!!! Thank you Hillary!!!!! I hope people listen!!!!!

  • Team Jackass screwed up bigtime picking obama over Clinton

  • Bravo, Hillary Clinton. Thank you for being the brave, strong voice that the world needs to hear. I commend you!

  • @Moroney1, Being a Christian has nothing to do with religion, being from a catholic background you should know the difference.

  • This is great.

  • Thank you!

  • Finally someone has the courage to tell it like it is and it took a female to do it. Hillary is doing the best to compensate and to undo the unfortunate policies enacted under Bill Clinton's presidency (DON'T ASK, DON'T TELL AND DEFENSE OF MARRIAGE ACT) two of the most damaging policies for the LGTB Community. Hillary, I'm proud of you. All I can say is thank you.

  • 14:32

  • "A constellation of conversations....."

  • @dell195811 What I liked most about the speech was Hillary's invitation for discussion on the topic. She did not dismiss or shun any nation, but she opened up the lines of communication. Reaching out to those countries is the only way to make a change.

  • Flawless! Thank you, Hillary. Thank you. You have shown the world what being an American is truly about.

  • I'VE SAID THIS ONCE, AND ILL SAID IT AGAIN, SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN PRESIDENT

  • @Kevieitat No the American people got it right and in re-electing President Obama

they will get it right again. She is carrying out the policy of President Obama.

  • Even though i'm not an American, I really wanted Hillary Clinton to be president of the US. That's why i was devastated when she was out of the running for president and McCain and Obama were left

  • I think this is just wonderful. I think this is a huge step for our community

  • HILARY WILL YOU BE OUR PRESIDENT? PLEASE!!!???

  • Absolutely perfect.

  • Excellent speech. 30 minutes long and it looked like Hillary never even used a cue card or notes. I'm Canadian, but I have always had deep respect for the woman ever since she did an interview with Oprah in the early 90's. I had no idea who she was at the time, but her opinions and goals were logical and won me over. Common sense. I know she wanted to be President, but I think this role is a much better fit for her.

  • @Basileus84 this is just a hunch but i think she has a teleprompter somewhere up there because she seems to be looking up most of the time. well, it's perfectly understandable. i can't even memorize a 5 minute speech.

  • Why isn't this woman president?

  • She really lays it out clearly and thoroughly for everyone. If you don't support or understand LGBTQ rights after seeing this video, you just aren't trying hard enough.

  • By being up there she's promoting human rights, yes, but she's also serving the interest of the American government to appear to be a leader on this front, which, actually, it is not. It's a privilege, not some selfless act to be able to give speeches like that, and there are many governments that are more deserving. It's not hard giving a nice speech. She and the current administration should be ashamed.

  • @davesyin She's calling the American government to action on it. I don't think she's trying to appear selfless at all. No offense but "should be ashamed" is a pretty juvenile thing to say. She's doing her best to make a positive difference. Compare this with Rick Perry's recent campaign video and we really have nothing to complain about.

  • @davesyin

I'm certain that more countries have put a better effort forth to increasing civil rights. But as an American I am much happier that the we at least assert ourselves to be at the front because its helps the gay rights campaign at home.

  • @davesyin wow. who cares who gives the speech, pretty sure the message is infinitely more times important than the home country of the person giving the speech. you have a problem with your priorities dear sir

  • Finally. I hope we see the follow-through promised.

  • Hilary these days seems very cool. She has a very reasonable no-bs attitude. She doesn't feel like a politician. Now I know that's far from true. They're all corrupt. Perhaps she's a little better than most though

  • as someone who was there in the audience, I say yes it was a wonderful speech, but only if you are seeing it from the cameras. live it was articulate, but unengaging with the audience.

just wanted to get that out there...

  • @blaster915 so was the standing ovation just for show?

  • @UraniaMy Not exactly, I can't speak on behalf of the whole crowd, but the group in my immediate area only stood up and clapped out of respect that it was Hillary Clinton. :/

  • What a great speech! Regardless of one's political views, you have to agree with Hillary and the message of the speech! It's not right to reject human rights.

  • There is a saying - "The means do not justify the ways".

Hilary is totally paid off and old money from very dark places.

To spout superlatives when you get money from human rights abusers, species, land and water trashers - basically corporate psychopaths - then what does this speech really mean?

  • @cosmicwoman It's actually 'the ends do not justify the means'. 'Ways and means' is another one. Ways and means are essentially the same thing.

  • She is a truly amazing woman. The greatest President that the United States never had.

  • Thank you!

  • I just don't get why America wants to spend more money telling countries what to do. Why doesn't America care about poor people and veterans? Veterans come home from Iraq and Afghanistan and we treat them like crap. It's rude and completely disrespectful. They deserve better. Poor people in America deserve to be taken care of too.

  • @Davidsternsucks There's no money or spending involved in this policy. This new policy actually encourages agencies to withhold foreign aid from countries who have bad records on human rights for LGBTs. If anything, it'll save money.

  • @Davidsternsucks i'm a veteran. we are not being treated like crap. we are being treated better than any group of veterans since those from world war ii. so, as a veteran, please don't drag me into your logic for denying hillary clinton the praise she deserves for delivering an excellent speech and promoting good deeds.

  • History books will prove her right in this speech. I love knowing we have an intelligent, accepting person at such an important position.

  • Being gay does not make people less human. At it is a violation of human rights to be denied justice and our humanity because we are gay. Secretary Clinton spoke the truth of this reality. Now and forever the truth of her words will be etched into history alongside other justice-seeking notables. Many thanks to all that helped to make this powerful happen!

  • This is an inspiring, progressive and well delivered speech and I deeply appreciate Hillary Clinton's effort to promote human rights for all. However, I can't help questioning her sincerity because she did not support federal marriage equality during her 2008 campaign. Does anyone know if she supports it now?

  • You rock Hillary. What an inspirational woman role model you are to all females. This was a very well written and articulated speech. Thank you for being our current Secretary.

  • 25 people don't have human rights

  • @ozzzeoin yes but even people including myself

  • I don't care what you think about her as a politician, she's still one cool lady!

  • Wow, I am blown away. Hats off to Secretary Clinton.

  • Amazing!

  • She is just so perfect

  • I love you Hillary. I wish you were our President instead of Obama. Please run for President.

  • what a woman!! c'est pas Sarkozy qui tiendrait un discours pareil! Gosh I'm a french gay guy who just falls in love with Hilary Clinton.

  • @nikam7 So damn true, Sarkozy is just... too old school !

  • I totally lost my words to describe Hillary Clinton that I will only use one "Respect".

I really hope she changes her mind and runs for president in 2016, she could do so much for this nation (USA) and for the World

  • The best part about this thread of comments is that the most eloquent, effective argument is coming from the right side of history : ) The wrong side is still trying to come to grips with QWERTY.

  • Reminiscent of another historic speech with the catchphrase 'I have a dream.'

  • @ybediz - absolutely!!

  • what an amazing speech

  • Good for you Hilary.

  • As a hetero Christian I have to agree with Hillary 100%. Jesus expects us to love EVERYONE as we love ourselves, including our enemies. We will all be judged by God according to our works here on earth To the so called Christians who spent the time & energy to bash LGBT's, you did absolutely nothing to edify the body of Christ. If any thing your pulling the mortar from the bricks. Is it a wonder why it's so hard to win souls for The Kingdom! God bless You ALL!
