  • Drive in IDLE / SAVE mode by smart - imho

  • how to back up your harddrive when you can't make it to windows

  • my laptop has music i need to retrieve!!! where can i go get these services where they can get the data/music for me???!!!

  • Nice Hitachi GXP ;p

  • Mines making some fuckin grinding noise its on & off though. When it happend scared the shit out of me

  • i'm have this problem on hdd segate 40 gb :( loss all pictures

  • this is cool

  • #FAIL

  • hmm i was going to say, the head shouldn't even be parked there :-/ it should be at the inside edge of the disk?

  • @JohnnyX50 Some of them park on a little plastic ramp (this one) and some do what you said.

  • If you hear that sound: Say Bye Bye! :-(

  • why was the head off the platter ?

    did u move it

  • Ummmmm It's a hitachi death star. They always have the head of the platter. They also have glass platters if you want to smash hitach deathstar :)

  • COMPUTER BECOME A BSOD!

  • I have that same problem with my Baracuda 200Gb Hdd

  • I'd recognize that noise anywhere. You, my friend, are experiencing the all too common and all too infamous Desk(Death)Star failure. Stay away from those drives if you value your data.

  • what can i say ... deathstar avoid those older drives they tend to fail a lot

  • its a deathstar.... no suprise there... deathstars like to fail on their owners for no reason. get a Western Digtial

  • i find that laptop hardrives fail alot more than desktop ones :(

  • what do i do if my pc say no hard disk found?

  • well then some hd

  • the seagate hard drive in this comp is faster and more reliable

  • mine did the same lost 250 GB of files

  • ouch

  • I have a question...Can magnets really wipe the memory off your hard drive?

  • very strong ones can

  • It's a popular saying" You don't know how valuable your data is. Until you lose it" Sucks mighty hard tho when you can't afford 1000's of dvd-r's or raid1 :(

  • get a external hard drive

  • thats retarded external hard drives cost more and u wont be able to use it for windows

  • what costs more? buying tons of cd all the time or buying a proper 1tb hard drive for 100-150 euros? and u can use it for windows as well

  • external hard drives can also fail, they are connected using usb also so it would permently need to be connected

  • external drives do indeed also fail. but it's very unlikely to have two drives fail at the same time. also they dont fail as fast because they aren't connected all the time. I use a wd passport 320 gb. i have it lying on my desk all the time and like every two weeks i connect it, let it run for 10 minutes and disconnect it.

  • i guess so as it is not in use as long

  • @superavrillavignefan 1tb hdd suck cuz it fails in one year

  • bonjour,

  • Good old death star. Had one do the same thing to me too.

  • put a piece of round sand paper on it and make it in to a electric sander!

  • I hate that sound, happend to me mutch to often. I have a second HD in my pc for backup, and behind me 2 HD with the same data. So I have a backup for my backup, and a backup. lol Aim not shitting you guys lol

  • i have that sound and my haddrive is almost 1 years old

  • is that hard disk dangerous when rotating?

  • if you touch the sharp edges or it explodes, yey :P

  • yes not yey XD

  • what are you doing with the plastic bag?

  • i think he don´t want dust on the drive

  • If you hear this noise, BACKUP NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ANYTHING YOU HEAR THAT IS NOT NORMAL OUT OF ANY PART OF YOUR COMPUTER, ESPECIALLY THE HARD DRIVE SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN LIGHTLY!!!! If your HD has allready failed completely, there are services that can get the data off of the HD, like DiskSavers :)

  • YEAH!!!

TELL THOSE NIGGAZ IN THE HOOD AND LAZY COMPUTER USERS TO BACKUP THEIR DATA!!!

disk failure is no joke! Loss of data can sometimes mean the difference between a catastrophic failure of a project, and archived data available for documentaries and recaps!

  • how do you back up your data, and will you have to install a new OS if a hdd failure occurs? cause mine hums and makes tiny noses and i want to be safe

  • But at least you still have the OS install disc during most cases of HD failure!!!

  • if an OS came installed on your pc, should you still have the disk?

  • it seems i've got the same problem...

    can this be fixed?

  • its ok

  • rofl, epci fail

  • man hard drives spin fast!

  • Probably to stop dust from building up on the hard drive as that would wreck it.

  • sounds like the servo of the magnet is broken :/

  • there is no "servo" in the hard-drive, at least not in the new ones, the precision is not high enough. Instead the heads "travel" on "pillow" formed by an electric field

  • the segate in my gateway makes the same noise

  • This is why you don't trust your magnetic little buddie :P

  • what?! "gets hammer and smashes $60 neodymium magnet" :P

  • lol

  • interesting shutdown sound

  • stop copying these things. I didnt and my mom is still alive and well. please stop believing what these people are telling you.

  • it's spinning normally, what's the problem?

  • Actually it looked like the read head was not working properly.

  • i feel like painting an hard drive disk ^_^

  • hahaha sounds like one of those pulse machines at a hospital.....beep..click click...beep lol

  • u could make a tesla turbine ot of harddrives from the looks of it . cool and weird at the same time

  • I think ... it's kinda stupid.....

  • What is that toy ?

  • IT'S NOT A TOY

  • ITS NOT A TUMOR!

  • The disk isn't spinning as fast as it should be. The clicking is the hard disk checking for the required speed, and the arm only goes onto the disk when it has been running for a while because it has built up more speed. You can't repair the motor yourself, so either take it to a data recovery centre or buy a new hard disk.

  • it HURTS to see that

  • And they say theres nothing useful on the interweb....

  • is that a cd disc?

  • ... OK i wont get angry. This is the actual hard disk inside the hard disk drive.

  • well i know that.. but that spinning thing inside of it

  • its the motor.. under it it has extremely fine ball bearings that keep the disk turning and creating minimum turbulence (shaking) in the process. its what allows HDs to run at 15k rpms or more

  • and the Hard disk is the MAIN source of memory?

  • well it stores all your data like the OS files, program files, and documents, so yes. RAM also stores temporary memory but you dont NEED RAM (your computer will be extremely slow though). There is also processor cache, which is kind of like "super" RAM but is limited to about 2-8 mb

  • you need ram to start up

  • no. it just makes startup faster. but you do need RAM to put the computer to sleep.

  • ran is where your os starts up wihout it you wont be able to start up with an os ,

  • "KanoakaVirus" What does any of what you said have to do with anything?

The hdd will go thru its normal startup routines with no ram in the pc, no cpu & no data cable

  • what im on about its ram boots your os and dude it was a week ago im well past caring

  • That's quite right. It fails the POST and beeps three times if there is no RAM.

  • either way i'd say the heads are screwed now having been bouncing off the platters like that!

  • You know, I think the platter is spinning too fast, as fast as the motor can...it didn't seem to sync up...

  • actuator arm problem??

  • its going too fast like 9200 rpm something like that

  • too high current

  • He's dead, jim.

  • @pico6921 thats so funny . am 3 years late

  • @pico6921 LOL

  • it sounds like music the books would make!

  • fuckers loud

  • lol xDDD

  • lol time is running out

  • ur hd is so bad! i've had a lot of hds but, fortunately I've reach to save the files. Poor hd :(

  • O shit my hard drive is starting to make taht noise when i boot up : /

  • pix or it didn't happen

  • Its almost as if the hdd's head position sensor has just died. Ive never seen thus far, the inner workings where the heads are right off the edge of the disk!

  • sounds like techno music..

  • lol...nice.

Looks like a Hitachi hard drive. Sounds like one too.

  • that actually reminds me something... what if one day suddenly my HDD with full load of data ends up like this.... what about yours? make a good back up regularly man! lol

  • If you hear any weird noises, BACKUP NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ANYTHING YOU HEAR THAT IS NOT NORMAL OUT OF ANY PART OF YOUR COMPUTER, ESPECIALLY THE HARD DRIVE SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN LIGHTLY!!!! If your HD has allready failed completely, there are services that can get the data off of the HD

  • @dickcheney6yes abut its expensive...

  • @dickcheney6 Yeah.

    For 5000$.

  • @leetwaffle exactly. That's only if you've got very important data on there, like something you've been working on for a year and your job expects it in a week, or a extensive library of family pictures or something like that.

  • @dickcheney6 Yeah. Luckily, most people that do that already have it backed up. I don't ever back up, but I don't do anything important.

  • that fucker is loud

  • Yes... Harddrives can go bad if they are exposed to non particle free air, wesern digital used a plastic called poly carbonate to have a window on their hard disk.

  • cumesoftware, the 'parking zone' is the closest track to the hub, not on the edge. The head should position itself tight to the hub when turned off/inactive.

  • what zanarammstein said was "a alcoholic hard disk" or "a drunk hard disk"

  • un disco duro alcoholico

  • abacho:->can i give this in xbox 360.

  • click of death!!

  • Same thing happened to my xbox so I just threw it away.

  • That could of been fixed.... easily. But hey, the deed is done already...

  • i hate computers!

  • you dont have to have plastic on the harddrive while its open you know, nothings gonna mess it up

  • Its always good to see people do not know how things work.

Hard drives are sealed for very good reasons. The heads float above the platters using the bernoulli effect. This gap is smaller than the width of a human hair, hence dust causes problems and now we realise why they are sealed

  • It seems what happened to my Xbox's HD: upon startup it did suck repeatedly clicking noise.

  • I meant such when i wrote suck! :-D

  • The head seems to be out of place. Ideally it should rest in a "landing zone" on the edge of the disk, and not completely out.

  • On most hard drives, yes. But this one (An IBM/Hitachi Deskstar no doubt) has a ramp for the heads. The heads are exactly where they are supposed to be. However, my guess is some sort of firmware issue, since it fails before it even tries reading the platter, at first.

  • throw it on a wall and buy a better one xDD

  • look at his expresion on his face... "NO!!! ALL MY PR0n I DOWNLOADED"

    ROFL 5/5

  • lmao

  • what a crap hardrive

  • why the plastic around it the disk is already failured.

  • Servo failure, which is a problem in the drive electronics.

And, that looks like a Deskstar.

  • Rig it up as a speaker like I did

  • ananızınki ok

  • The head that reads the data is bad.

  • TAKE A SHIT ON IT, THAT WILL HELP!

  • Can o donen şey var ya... :D

  • Con mais vrai!

  • the hard drive reader is suppost to be in the middle

  • :( i was waiting for it to blow up lol

  • wow is like a clock ticking!! The arm assembly is STUCK!!!

  • Is that a hard drive head crash? 0.0

  • no

  • That's creepy!

  • The famous 75GXP, I feel for ya.

  • I think he wants to play DJ^^

  • hard drives usually come with cases, and u cant see the disks? have you removed yours and replaced it with a bag? if so it changes th pressure and fucks it up

  • Actually, there is a hole in every hard drive (usually says "DO NOT COVER THIS HOLE" or something to that effect) that allows the pressure to balance out. They all have methods of keeping particulates out, mainly via a simple filter, but hard drives are not pressurized in any way, shape, or form. I cut and covered a hole in the cover of a hard drive once to watch it run and it read and wrote fine. It's only really a problem if particulates get on the head.

  • pressure has nothing to do with hdd functionality, actually disks even have a tiny airhole with a moisture filter, to even the pressure with the pressure outside of the disk case.

  • my old laptop hard disk does that now i know what its doing when its making that damn clicking noise lol! thanks for the video

  • Click of death.

  • Hell yeah...

  • Yes I have trying to mount the machine ...

I can't do anything else with this disk ...

for some people, i give you a tip :

put your HDD in your refrigerator during 1h,it would be up, time to safeguard the data. search in google !

  • A bud of mine told me that you could also put it in the freezer and try (pardon the punn) a cold boot. lol

  • I hate when that happens. My friends xbox hdd started that after 2 years, and... I had one go that way about... a month ago. I also have a hdd that used to shut off randomly, and now I use it as an external for back-up... smart huh. Hasn't gave me one problem since I took it out of that PC though.

  • Damn I thought It was going to blow up in his face. That was boring.

  • interesting!

  • Is he trying to mount the machine???

  • Goddamn you people bitch. Read the title and maybe you wouldn't watch it. It's exactly what's described. thought it was pretty interesting. Would be curious to know what causes the drive to totally f*ck up like that.

  • How pointless!

  • what were you hoping to accomplish here?

  • have a poo?

  • Don't listen to him. It's interesting to see how computers f*ck up.

  • yeh this guy is crap at sucking me off
