Granted, I wouldn't consider these half-reps provided that his ROM is even fuller (which is a good thing -- props). But people who falsely claim that half-reps are harder than full reps are lying to both themselves and others. Now, while I don't expect someone to lock out every time in a rep out--I sure don't--there is no doubt that to do so would certainly add difficulty. In any case, kudos to this lifter, as 46x is super strong.
Excellent Concentration on his chest but doesnt the full range cause fatigue faster? Personally have only ever gotten 34 reps so this is extremely difficult to get 46...props man.....
This is doing it the hard way, the hardest form for correct benchpress, i bet if he used a ''full rep'' a bunch of times, he could've done 50-55 reps instead of 46. Though he was Not tired, or should i say exhausted after 46, so maybe even more than that =)))
If someone disagree's, try taking 10 the ''right'' way, and 10 this way, which some call the ''easy'' -half rep. doesn't matter what order you take em, just.. 10 then 10. find a weight you can do 20+ with first, GL
@clloyd21 Ye, go figure. I threw a ''try it yourself'' manual in there just to help Some people, ofc everyone ain't got a benchpress in their cellar like i do, along with alot of other handy things (set up in a room with heat and comf. not just hidden under the stair down there ;P)
uh ask any professional bodybuilder or powerlifter, you work chest 3/4 of the movement, once you go past that, you are using triceps to lockout, bad form good form, this dude just did 46 reps, he’s a beast
@adabne1 does the extra 2-4 inch lockout (which is the easiest part of the light) even matter LOL. he could still do it 46 times with 100% full ROM he got those 46 easy as fuck.
man what is with you idiots, why do people hate on this guy?
Does that mean all teachers are supposed to be weak LOL No kid will mess w/ you especially the ones who will bash your last name. Kids do that stuff even if you are a beast.
Man, so many ignorant, uneducated, haters in here! The man is doing proper benching, just short of lockout. This is WHY the world is so fu@#ed up: all of the haters. Just say "good lift" and move on. Is that so hard?
PERFECT FORM, LOCKING OUT IS EASIER , STOPS TENSION ON THE CHEST AND ALLOWS TO FOR MUSCLES TO RELAX. CONSTANT TENSION IS HARDER, THIS GUY IS THE MAN, EVERYONE DISAGREEING IS A PIECE OF SHEET!
I could care less who the fuck ripptoe is, never heard of him. But I'm glad you listen to him. Lifting seminars? Louis Simmons, Dave Tate, Jim Wendler etc.... know them?
It also doesn't matter if this guy was at a pw comp. or not, his benching was good. Plain & simple, there were no form issues.
Now go back to your Flex magazine and jerk off to Jay Cutler.
Locking out is REQUIRED in a bench press cuz is a compound exercise, not isolation. So don't gimme your bullshit on targeting chest. Tri and shoulder is PART of bench pressing. If you don't do full ROM you're not bench pressing.
@darkcurrent Sorry you're wrong buddy. You've read way to many Arnold & Ronnie Coleman guides to get big. Go watch a powerlifter. Read up on the proper way to bench.
@scottgomez1 You're not my buddy, faggot. Claiming I'm wrong with no proof shows what a dipshit you are.
Rippetoe is a powerlifter, and he teaches lifting seminars, and guess what? he recommends full ROM and locking out. Additionally, this moron is not at a power lifting competition, he's doing high reps, not weights... so form matters.
Now go lick your pussy after I've bitch slapped your whore ass.
@FICKFEEanal fat? That's good or bad? Or you prefer 160 pounds 5'7 shaved midgets with T-Rex arms? It's more like girl than man. Real man got to be tall, strong and heavy. If your DNA sucks due to your pussy ass daddy don't hate everybody else.
This is 1 of the best benching techniques I've seen. Elbows at perfect tuck, lower body stays steady, hips remain on bench throughout. All the kids that are complaining about ROM probably can't do 46 pushups with perfect form. What do kids say when they can't bench this weight? "I know somebody that's smaller than him that can bench more reps". Who cares what your HS gym buddies can bench. Prove it.
how can you people even think this is that impressive? im 17 and can do 225 28 times the RIGHT way its called full extention this is just a disgrace honestly Eric coleman just visited my high school cuz thats where he graduated and he is 5'10 207 and he is probably half the size of this guy and was repping 315 8 times and he did that for 5 sets now that is actually impressive
u can complain all u want about good form, bad form, this and that and all this mess but its all crap. This guy just beasted the bench, nuff said. If his form is so bad or ROM is not right, why doesnt anybody else post a video of the "right way" to do it? cuz they cant lift 225 for 46 reps. Talking wont do a damn thing when it comes to lifting weight. Stop criticizing others, Shut up and lift.
That is straight up Gangsta bro, Your in a very exclusive club , as for the detractors im sure they're the same kids that are overdosing on Ridalin and big gulps while following their favortite WWE superstars on twitter.
Damn strong dude. Never lock the elbows if you want to use them after the age of 40. Also, the athletes at the NFL combine bounce the bar off their chest so much it should not be considered a bench press. They too are strong, but what they do is a tricep workout.
@AirJordan337, get a copy of the NFL combine rule book and tell me what Paragraph 1. of the Bench press guide says. Because apparently the NFL is wrong and you are right, Im sure NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will appreciate your acute eye and attention to detail, he may even employ you on the spot as the "Official referee of the NFL Combine".
@clloyd21 well to be honest the NFL does have it wrong haha, if they are gonna call it Bench Press. its basically just a different exercise if its said in the rule book that full range isnt required, which is fine. but people will eternally be calling out the combine test as shit and poor form and all of that, so long as they callin it a bench press. maybe NFL press is a better name ahaha.
@clloyd21 to be honest your getting it past the rack, past the sticky point and judging by the awesome number of reps your pushing out here i dont think the press out would take many reps off you, beast.
@AirJordan337 ...That was textbook perfect for bench pressing...When you lock out at the top, it transfers it all to the triceps. You don't know shit dude.
@AirJordan337 full "ROM" for bench is pointless if you trying to target your chest. you lock out and you take all stress off the chest mucsle and put it on your shoulders and triceps. read a fucking book or something
@AirJordan337 Dude, WRONG? Perfect form. No reason to lock it out when doing that many reps and he handles that weight like it is nothing. 46, he had another 10-15...
haha dude you could've probably even gotten up to 50..nice job, fuck all the people on here saying it was bad form..better than most people you see on here anyways.
So the guy just did 46 reps, and the guy whose comment is below me says "POOR FORM". The comment below that say "doing them wrong". Ok, you put a youtube up and demonstrate to the whole world how its supposed to be done. Thanks for your input gentlemen. You are both morons.
@LogePiece I been telling these retards this for years. Lots of people run their mouths about "Poor Form", "Bad Technique" ect. NOBODY has yet to put up a video, and it's been 4 years now.
@clloyd21 I don't see anything wrong with his form... His back is arched and he's bringing the weight down to his chest without locking his elbows on the way up. The people talking obviously have no fucking idea how to bench in the first place. This guy isn't trying to do a set, he's just trying to do more than 40 reps.
it looks like he had more in him. hahah 46 seemed easy for him. but hey good job, im not hatin, i cant do that myself, but just saying how strong he is.
I dont get why dudes go for high rep presses like this. It looks good, but 46 reps at any weight is essentially useless from an athletic or aesthetic perspective. If your gonna put the time and effort in, why not go for high poundages? like 405 for reps or somethin....that would be bad ass
@565144 - You are mistaken, high rep sets DEVELOP strength while heavy singles and doubles DISPLAY strength. The development of strength is FAR more useful athletically than showing off a one rep max. You also missed the entire point of the video as the 225 bench for reps is a football combine strength test and he was trying to beat the record set from that. The people that said his reps were only partials though are correct, he didn't lock out on any of them.
@AdrianKimmett1 ....right, which is why i am suggesting that 225 for reps should not be the standard assessment. your right, the best way to develop strength is with reps, not singles. But every powerlifter on the planet will you optimal training range is 3-6 reps. But 46 reps? christ almighty that is like telling your pecs to run a marathon. Endurance training to that degree is relatively insignificant from an athletic perspective. Hence, they should analyze singles, or lower reps at least
@565144 - He had a purpose in doing this set though, to beat a what was set at the NFL combine. I don't think this is an illustration of how he regularly trains or at least we can't assume that it is just because we have seen this----And anyone on here who thinks that this guy doesn't also have an impressive one rep max is sadly mistaken. Yes this is high rep training but anyone who can toy with 225 this way is going to have big single as well.
During the NFL pro bowl bench competition, the competitors do not bench in a full range of motion, so he isn't necessarily trying to get over 40 complete reps, but beat what was already done. He actually could have gotten over 50 if he had taken a breather in between reps 43 or 44 with the bench still in the air. This is a great way to try to maximize the amount of reps achieved.
I call bullshit on this vid. There is probably a giant magnet above the bench that assists in the lift or the plates are fake or he takes steroids. No way this is real because I can't do.
I lock out my legs on leg press, maybe that why I don't do as much as others, I also lock out my arms on bench and military, its a completed rep! I'm just saying his bench didn't look like other benches I have seen! If not locked out atleast aim higher than what he did
I'm not saying he isn't strong because that would make me a fucking liar, but these are what they call half reps in the NFL, your elbows have to lock out for it to be a full extension! These weren't so no record!
@Smith35KC If you actually did all of the bodybuilding that you claim, then you would know that the bottom half of the rep for the bench press mainly concentrates on the pectoral muscles and the top half shifts the focus to the triceps. Doing high reps with full range of motion is very demanding on the triceps and does not provide as much stress on the pecs.
@ProstigeWorldwide The point was to do 46 reps, but that is impossible if you do full range of motion. Therefore, to do 46 reps, you either have to work your triceps or your pecs.
cuz thts whut bodybuilders train for to get their 225 up lol, are you trying to say hes stronger than any bodybuilder, cuz high reps dunt equal for shit in the strength game
hahaha!! bodybuilders train to get their 225 up? are you an idiot?? serious question. ..You know ZERO about bodybuilding..OBVIOUSLY....Bodybuilders dont care about how much weight they lift, its about sculpting the body and looking good and proportioned on stage...dumbass...oh and high reps dont mean shit for strength?? Then i wonder why the NFL uses it to measure the strength..you really should not speak .because your a moron
@anytingbu "cuz thts whut bodybuilders train for to get their 225 up lol" if this doesn't sound like sarcasm then you need to go back to school and get your grade 6
"and you dont know anything about bodybuilding if you think bodybuilders now a days train for a proportionate physique"
That definitely wasnt sarcasm..so the fact that you believe that statement shows that your an idiot, and shoulda stayed out of shit you dont know about
and your obviously an idiot because you clearly dont know what proportionate means..it means all of there muscles are the same in visual strength when on stage. and if you dont know that, than you've never seen a bodybuilding show. meaning you dont know shit..haha dumbass
@anytingbu shut up you wannabee youtube bodybuilder, i've been training all my life your prolly a kid who made some gains and thinks hes a bodybuilder, ive seen people like you in my gym talking about shit they found out on the internet
wat workouts could get my benchpress to increase because i need 2 get alot stronger for football and combines cause ibeen liftiing for 3years and i do lots of workouts but sumthin not my benchpress not impressive as it should be
you write that you can do more reps than larry allen. yes but larry allen does his reps with full arm extension. you coulnd't do 40+ with fully extenden arms.
no i can't prove you wrong because the movie has been deleted from youtube. but at pro bowl 2004 or 2005, i don't remember, larry allen took 43 reps. full arm extension. if your arms aren't fully extended at nfl combines and pro days etc. the rep doesn't count. that's all the prove i can give you
This guy is obviously strong but he is not extending his arms fully Larry Allen extended his arms almost to a lockout. But if you ask me all that shit is fake why don't they extend their arms to a lockout?I can do 24 lockout reps what do you think how much could I do these?
@Svinja75 Locking out your elbows is considered damaging. I've read several benching guides that say do not lock out your elbows on non-maxing reps. But they meant stop right before you locked out, so you will get a little more ROM than these reps.
@Smith35KC I got them and they still are not NFL combine competition videos, again same question..."Show me a video of ANY NFL combine RECORD competition where they lock out their elbows."
Very strong guy! This guy is a school teacher? If i was that stong i would be playing in the NFL.

Perfect lifting. If you don't think it's the right way, look how they do it at the combine.

think do you lock your legs , when doing a leg press? fuckk no
waltergerth 1 year ago
@waltergerth

Smith35KC 1 year ago
@Smith35KC Show me a video of ANY NFL combine RECORD competition where they lock out their elbows.

Bro I posted links on your page because it won't let me here for some reason!
Smith35KC 1 year ago
@Smith35KC Where? I see nothing.
clloyd21 1 year ago
@Smith35KC If you actually did all of the bodybuilding that you claim, then you would know that the bottom half of the rep for the bench press mainly concentrates on the pectoral muscles and the top half shifts the focus to the triceps. Doing high reps with full range of motion is very demanding on the triceps and does not provide as much stress on the pecs.

LHedgehog1 1 year ago
@LHedgehog1 the point was to do 46 REPS though not 46 reps focusing on the pecs right ?
ProstigeWorldwide 1 year ago
@ProstigeWorldwide The point was to do 46 reps, but that is impossible if you do full range of motion. Therefore, to do 46 reps, you either have to work your triceps or your pecs.
LHedgehog1 1 year ago
it looked like he could of done 50+ . Of course endurance reps make a heavy burn..

cuz thts whut bodybuilders train for to get their 225 up lol, are you trying to say hes stronger than any bodybuilder, cuz high reps dunt equal for shit in the strength game
xxMEvsYouxx 1 year ago
@xxMEvsYouxx
hahaha!! bodybuilders train to get their 225 up? are you an idiot?? serious question. ..You know ZERO about bodybuilding..OBVIOUSLY....Bodybuilders dont care about how much weight they lift, its about sculpting the body and looking good and proportioned on stage...dumbass...oh and high reps dont mean shit for strength?? Then i wonder why the NFL uses it to measure the strength..you really should not speak .because your a moron

anytingbu 1 year ago
@anytingbu and you dont know anything about bodybuilding if you think bodybuilders now a days train for a proportionate physique
xxMEvsYouxx 1 year ago
@xxMEvsYouxx
and your obviously an idiot because you clearly dont know what proportionate means..it means all of there muscles are the same in visual strength when on stage. and if you dont know that, than you've never seen a bodybuilding show. meaning you dont know shit..haha dumbass

you write that you can do more reps than larry allen. yes but larry allen does his reps with full arm extension. you coulnd't do 40+ with fully extenden arms.
sexdebut 3 years ago
Post a video of Larry Allen doing 40 full arm extensions of 225. You can't because it doesn't exist. I would LOVE for you to prove me wrong.
clloyd21 3 years ago 3
no i can't prove you wrong because the movie has been deleted from youtube. but at pro bowl 2004 or 2005, i don't remember, larry allen took 43 reps. full arm extension. if your arms aren't fully extended at nfl combines and pro days etc. the rep doesn't count. that's all the prove i can give you
sexdebut 3 years ago
lol, Larry Allen did not fully extend his arms in that video - not even close.
URAGR8M8 3 years ago
thats not true at all.
joecandito 3 years ago 2
This guy is obviously strong but he is not extending his arms fully Larry Allen extended his arms almost to a lockout. But if you ask me all that shit is fake why don't they extend their arms to a lockout?I can do 24 lockout reps what do you think how much could I do these?
Svinja75 3 years ago
@Svinja75 Locking out your elbows is considered damaging. I've read several benching guides that say do not lock out your elbows on non-maxing reps. But they meant stop right before you locked out, so you will get a little more ROM than these reps.
Bubinga2098 1 year ago
@clloyd21 larry allen did his 700 pound bench press with his arms fully extened,I'm pretty sure he can at least do 60 or more not fully extening
solomonballhawk566 1 year ago
@solomonballhawk566 A. Post a video of Larry Allen doing a 700 pound bench press with his arms fully extended. You cant because it doesn't exist.
B. Using your logic - since Usain Bolt can run a 9.58 100m this would mean he can run a 2:55.4 mile.
