I like the game the way they released it.
I mean... This still looks interesting. And I would consider playing it, it just seems like it would be better as a separate game. Kind of like the big cloud surrounding the new DMC game and whatnot. Good looking game, just as long as it isn't considered part of the game(s) that's already out.
This guy has a super suit and crazy powers but you see him yell in surprise, get nervous for a moment and hold a handrail on his way out of an airlock. These things might seem insignificant but just those little details make him more believable than any of those generic badass alpha male characters who never break a sweat or have more than 3 expressions.
Man this trailer made me want to buy the next generation of consoles but when the game was released I was so disappointed. Maybe the story of the sequel ill be in space.

I think the reason why they went and turned it into a over the shoulder shooter, was because of that was the norm at the time. and instead of doing something new and different, they stuck to something familiar which would assure them to get some kind of sells. i wish new companies wouldn't be so abrade to do something new.

When I first saw the original trailer, about 1.5-2 years ago, I flipped out. I thought it looked freaking awesome, and I find myself wondering yet again, why did they change it!? It looked so awesome and yet...... I don't.... I can't.... I just can't reconcile it in my mind.

I can't believe be actually like the way they changed Dark Sector. The orginial idea was far better and with some minor tweaks here and there it could have been an easy 10. The new version did so poorly and the freaking glaive is such a retarded weapon making all the other weapons in the game pointless and requires you to use an ineffective and really toyish tool to kill the enemy. It is such a rip off of the chainsaw in gears of war. At least the orginial idea offered a unique suit to the gamer
Wow! I havent seen this since april 2005. Man has Dark sector changed. This could have been cool. I really liked the final game, but the whole dark sector in space could have been cool.

I should explain. The reason the developer switched to a more gears of war-type style was to appeal to more people, since sci-fi had been done, or so they said. I think the real reason is that they were forced to make the switch by some of the higher ups, since I can not think of giving this really cool look up.

There are days I sit down and write short fan fiction ideas behind this concept because of how good it looked. The mystery behind it is very intriguing. I still would like to know about the Dark Sector of space and his involvement as a spy/saboteur so deep in outer space! I still would like to know what other abilities he had and if there were rival spies or other villains. I would ahve so abused the control other machines mechanic!!
sort of doom, alien, time shift, etc.. feel in game wise but very similar to other games, there a good dozen or so others just the same but it would still be quite cool to see ...
I prefer the new version but this would be quite a cool game aswell just improve on the graphics and make a different costume for the main charcter. It is quite similar to loads of other games but it still seems pretty good, if they also had a sort of metal gear solid 4 cloak that would be cool too, and the time shifting capabilities of timeshift but better shooting/ fighting action.
Oh WOW I totally forgot about this trailer! I downloaded it and everything and remembered thinking i really wanted it! then wasn't that bothered when the actual game came out because I didn't even recognise it...how peculiar

I just beat the dark sector game, the suit looks better in the final cut, this one looks very bland, i'm glad to see the more organic armor is the one they went with, though it was disappointing that it had nothing to do with space,other than that the game rocks the shit...

Dude when I saw this 4 years ago I was stoked beyond all belief for this game. The morphing suit idea really appealed to me and there was (and hasn't been) anything like it. Then when I saw it changed setting to an all-to-familiar, war-torn version of Earth, or whatever planet it takes place on, I was highly disappointed -- especially upon learning that the morphing suit was no longer present and had been replaced by a "virus". Dark Sector had potential to REALLY separate itself from the crowd..
it would be amazing to see both the new and the old one come out. I like the new one. but thats just me. the old one looks real good too. but the newer one kicks ass. I hope that DE really thinks their decision over and releases this game under a new name. that would be sick.
This is the first glimpse of what Next gen was to become, as of 5-6 years ago. They've since changed the entire story and about everything that they were originally planning on doing. Personally, this looks pretty dam awsome and I wish they would at least keep some of the enemies that they had originally planned on having. I like the idea of a "Dark Sector" beyond Pluto. a little disapointing to no that most of it will never see the inside of our consoles.
Completely agree. We just need another GeoW clone right? Oh and the stupid glaive idea is so cheap and gimmicky. The original Dark Sector used a magnetic/force system (you see it in his palm), which seems much more appealing, interesting, and quite plausible for a future setting, and not some weird biological weapon/disease that transforms you into a superhuman............god dammit I hate the new Dark Sector.
Maybe they released this as a teaser trailer. Like this is going to be a sequel or something. You never know. Maybe at the end of Dark Sector, after the credits, a video will reveal that this is just in the future because the disease he has lets him live longer. Who knows?!
both games look great by themselves. I agree with some of you and think this should be made into a game aswell. Lets just hope the gameplay is as fluent as the video shows.

The original version definitely looked very interesting, I liked the entire concept, especially when I saw it air on TechTV, but I'm interested in seeing where the new spin takes hold, and if it will live up to my current expectations. I do wish, however, that DE will consider revising and releasing this version.

Digital Extremes just ruined a great concept for a game. They could've stuck with the same story, updated the engine to an Unreal_3 or something. But they had to go screw the whole thing up. =(

the graphic, visual effects for the new version is pretty good. but I think the gameplay for the first production is so sweet. but you'll never know until the game comes out. maybe they might make part two of this game in the future. who knows

I prefer the new version but this would be quite a cool game aswell just improve on the graphics and make a different costume for the main charcter. It is quite similar to loads of other games but it still seems pretty good, if they also had a sort of metal gear solid 4 cloak that would be cool too, and the time shifting capabilities of timeshift but better shooting/ fighting action.

I'm glad they changed it, it just wouldn't have been the same without the glaive. Also the actualt version is pretty unique and more creepy cuz of the setting, but the older version just looks like another sci-fi game, which there are kinda too many of (cough~Halo~cough)

I just beat the dark sector game, the suit looks better in the final cut, this one looks very bland, i'm glad to see the more organic armor is the one they went with, though it was disappointing that it had nothing to do with space,other than that the game rocks the shit...

Dude when I saw this 4 years ago I was stoked beyond all belief for this game. The morphing suit idea really appealed to me and there was (and hasn't been) anything like it. Then when I saw it changed setting to an all-to-familiar, war-torn version of Earth, or whatever planet it takes place on, I was highly disappointed -- especially upon learning that the morphing suit was no longer present and had been replaced by a "virus". Dark Sector had potential to REALLY separate itself from the crowd..

This is the first glimpse of what Next gen was to become, as of 5-6 years ago. They've since changed the entire story and about everything that they were originally planning on doing. Personally, this looks pretty dam awsome and I wish they would at least keep some of the enemies that they had originally planned on having. I like the idea of a "Dark Sector" beyond Pluto. a little disapointing to no that most of it will never see the inside of our consoles.

Completely agree. We just need another GeoW clone right? Oh and the stupid glaive idea is so cheap and gimmicky. The original Dark Sector used a magnetic/force system (you see it in his palm), which seems much more appealing, interesting, and quite plausible for a future setting, and not some weird biological weapon/disease that transforms you into a superhuman............god dammit I hate the new Dark Sector.

Maybe they released this as a teaser trailer. Like this is going to be a sequel or something. You never know. Maybe at the end of Dark Sector, after the credits, a video will reveal that this is just in the future because the disease he has lets him live longer. Who knows?!

The original version definitely looked very interesting, I liked the entire concept, especially when I saw it air on TechTV, but I'm interested in seeing where the new spin takes hold, and if it will live up to my current expectations. I do wish, however, that DE will consider revising and releasing this version.

Damn, I remember seeing this before PS3 and 360 came out (I think it was before, right?) and thinkin, "daaaaamn, no WAY is it gonna look like that when it comes out!" cuz you know, companies always over hype graphics. But now we've got Gears of Wars n Assassin's Creed n shit and it's like, damn, these old graphics ain't nothin!
Around this time in the last generation I said this so now I'll say it again: imagine what the NEXT gen graphics are gonna look like!

no i mean a "shooter". i can see the game was going to be 3rd person, but it was 3rd person stealth, not a shooter. Most of the time why a lot of American game companies make shooters cause they know that they sell well. Yeah ever once and a while companies will go out of there way to do something different, but their usually sure to make money with a shooter.

Digital Extremes just ruined a great concept for a game. They could've stuck with the same story, updated the engine to an Unreal_3 or something. But they had to go screw the whole thing up. =(

i kinda like this trailer much better. it seems moe of an interesting game than the newer trailer. although it does not show much of the abiliies in this trailer. i liked the telekinisis tho. actually i kinda like the glaive better than the generic pistols tho.

the graphic, visual effects for the new version is pretty good. but I think the gameplay for the first production is so sweet. but you'll never know until the game comes out. maybe they might make part two of this game in the future. who knows

If u guys saw the E3 stage demo at gamespot you'd know that by the end of the game,as you aquire powers and the infection,grows you'll be the cyber ninja. I was really sad at first about this complete change. I've grown to like it now.
