I think its safe to say the supra was rather slow without turbos. Stock or not the car had a corvette price tag at base msrp and had the performance of the lower end mustangs at N/A and rise to the cobras with turbo versions. Great car still, but it was over-priced by a longshot. You could have taken an lx 5.0 made it faster in straights and corners for the price of a supra.
@Texarmageddon What are you talking about. In 1993 the Supra turbo out performed the base Corvette and hung with the C4 ZR-1 and grand sport. Anyone could say you can build this and make it faster than that. And back in the day it would take a lot of cash to get an LX 5.0 to hang with a stock supra in the twisties. The foxbody's solid axle and suspension was way too focused on drag.
@kageryu311 LX fox bodies were no where near as expensive as supras. Yes, parts would have been expensive, but they are no where near as expensive as they are today.
@kageryu311 Where did you read that a stock supra could hang with a ZR-1? LT-5 405 hp with a six speed? That year the Callaway Corvette had 475hp and 414lbs of torque without the twin turbo setup. The supras not a bad car and modified they are real fast but don't compare it to a corvette. A rustang maybe but not a corvette.

The ZR1 was $15K more than the Supra and the Supra hung with it for sure around the road courses. It outperformed the base C4 in every aspect of performance. The Callaway car is an Aftermarket package like any modded Supra you see around so its not a stock Corvette.

@pimp90650 If your spraying depends on how much, sometimes when you have a 2 stage nitrous system and the 2 stage kicks in it sometimes hits hard and it can break the tires and loose control if that answers that for you.

I street raced for a couple years before selling my car, Specators are there on the line, or side lines at their own risk. When at the track, people sit alot further away from the car, FOR A REASON.

Stock or not the car had a corvette price tag at base msrp and had the performance of the lower end mustangs at N/A and rise to the cobras with turbo versions. Great car still, but it was over-priced by a longshot. You could have taken an lx 5.0 made it faster in straights and corners for the price of a supra.

@Texarmageddon What are you talking about. In 1993 the Supra turbo out performed the base Corvette and hung with the C4 ZR-1 and grand sport. Anyone could say you can build this and make it faster than that. And back in the day it would take a lot of cash to get an LX 5.0 to hang with a stock supra in the twisties. The foxbody's solid axle and suspension was way too focused on drag.

@kageryu311 Where did you read that a stock supra could hang with a ZR-1? LT-5 405 hp with a six speed? That year the Callaway Corvette had 475hp and 414lbs of torque without the twin turbo setup. The supras not a bad car and modified they are real fast but don't compare it to a corvette. A rustang maybe but not a corvette.

@MrUnknownnoone Dude the years the MKIV Supra was released there wasn't a factory mustang Stock for stock that could hang with it. The ZR1 was $15K more than the Supra and the Supra hung with it for sure around the road courses. It outperformed the base C4 in every aspect of performance. The Callaway car is an Aftermarket package like any modded Supra you see around so its not a stock Corvette.

@SniperGoose well yea, the 2JZ-GE, 3.0L N/A @ 215 - 220 HP, but those are usually used as daily drivers or swapped because not too many people can/want to build an N/A properly, as it will be pricey and alot harder than just boosting and in turn has made it the least popular among the single or twin variations.
personally in the future id love to build myself an n/a inline 6, preferably a 7M-GE with ITB's if i have the money, but priority is the turbo setup =P

@pimp90650 If your spraying depends on how much, sometimes when you have a 2 stage nitrous system and the 2 stage kicks in it sometimes hits hard and it can break the tires and loose control if that answers that for you.

Think mustang just got loose, it happens in racing. He gained control of it fast.. As for him almost killing people or whatever. I street raced for a couple years before selling my car, Specators are there on the line, or side lines at their own risk. When at the track, people sit alot further away from the car, FOR A REASON.
