  • End of a century... It's nothing special... I think that's the main point. No matter how much we progress/change in style/technology it's still nothing special. We are still mortal and we still get old, and perhaps some of us get dirty because we seek novelty.

  • Good lord, the memories are overwhelming! Childhood encapsulated, such a great song! Mucho Love

  • NOW that's what I call(ed) a 'LOVE song'.. :"3

  • only 144,992 veiws? one of the best songs of the 90's

  • The first time I was introduced to Blur, was when I saw "Cruel Intentions." I heard ''Coffee and TV'' on that movie, and I was hooked on Blur like a crack addict.

  • @philbateman1989 I think the line's supposed to portray a pretence -- the real reason they wear the same clothes relates to the previous line, "don't want to be alone".

  • the cover art is absolutely random

  • They were just so damn good. Nobody could compare....yes, not even Oasis. The reason I went for Blur over Oasis (and I did like Oasis, but I had EVERYTHING from Blur) was that their musical ability was like that of a 1960s rock band. They were just four talented guys who were a perfect combination when put together. And they had melodies, harmonies, and instrumentation that reminded me of The Beatles and The Who and The Kinks, etc. I wish they'd get back together, the original four!

  • @MattHatter I think they are still kind of together, they have been since the reunion shows, but they haven't been doing much... apparently they're meeting up to record stuff at the moment and there's rumours of another album, but it hasn't been confirmed yet.

  • @MattHatter - Musically it goes without saying that Blur was totally even in writing ability and musical talent as Suede. Not just that the two phenomenal front men have a past, but they both write two distinct types of music but both were magical in their own way.

  • Bateria nota 10! O som do Blur é bem mais artístico do quê o da Oasis. Oasis é música pra se tocar em pub, enchendo a cara de chopp. :) Cada qual tem seu mérito. ---- top class drums! Blur´s music is way more artsy than Oasis´s Songs. Even Noel admits it. He could never do art on this level. But he also said: " Fuck art in music. I just wanna play some fucking rock´n roll" So, I don´t get what the fuss is all about between the fans of these two bands. It´s two fucking different things.
  • couldn't agree more. Prefer alot of noels acoustic versions of oasis songs too. After i typed that comment last night i listened to some of the stuff by blur from the album think tank and i actually sorta like that album

  • Oasis > Blur

  • @van1980 yea i agree. i can appreciate blur's uniqueish sound but i just can't get into them. many beak oasis for all of their songs sounding the same and i sorta get that from blur too. not hating, just one mans opinion

  • @hoofhearted1212 Cheers, dude. A lot of Oasis songs are played the same, but Noel always added his unique element to it. Can't wait for his solo album. Liam was a cunt.

  • It's nothin special. Ouch! ;-)

  • Good music on commercial radio went with the end of the century..

  • Gorillaz <3

  • That sound in the chorus reminds me of Karma Police.

  • Wow. My mind really is getting dirtier as I draw closer to thirty... I swear in the chorus it said "We kiss vaginas when we say goodnight"........

  • @qwaz13 It's " We kiss with dry lips when we say goodnight".Technically, you could still be right

  • @IcantsayIcare

I almost never comment on Youtube videos, but for some reason, that was the funniest thing I've seen in a while.

  • LOL!

  • They've got a new syllabus now for the GCSE's which means that blur isn't on the front cover anymore :(

  • absolutely brilliant these were the days amazing music.

  • Love this song. One of the catchiest and most winning tunes ever.

  • What happens to one's mind after one gets thirty?

Does the mind stop getting dirty?

I am 27 now and I can confirm that in my experience the mind does indeed get dirty as one gets closer to thirty.

Is there anyone here that is thirty or more that can tell about their experience?

  • @orritomasson You should note that you are older than the author of this song was when he wrote it.

  • @orritomasson I'm 32, and it doesn't stop, it gets worse!

  • @orritomasson When getting set for on a hillwalking trip a good few years back, pulling out a rucksack that belonged to another guy who was to turn up later, out of the car. I said to my mate as i was struggling "Help me pull his sack out" (think about it, lol)

  • @orritomasson it gets dirtier after 30 cos your runnning out of time to try everything you want to

  • @orritomasson Absolutely I'm 29 (about 9 weeks away from 30) and it really does haha!

  • @orritomasson I'm 36 and my mind has definitely gotten dirtier over the years.

  • @orritomasson

    HI!

    I can answer your question!

I'm 30 - and btw I only just started getting into this song this year despite being from the Blur/Oasis era.

Don't worry... the mind stays ok and sex is still a good goer!

    Ste

  • @orritomasson keeps getting worse, don't worry :) i'm 31 and my mind gets dirtier with every year that passes ;) hehe

  • So many memories of having time to just relax in a room and listen to blur and not being disturbed by a nagging wife or my 16 months old climbing and jumping on me!!!

sheer bliss and a total eargasm they don't make music like this anymore anywhere in the world!!!!

  • WOAHHH MUSIC GCSE DEJA VU!!

  • one of the best 4 me

  • "Give her effervescence, she needs a little sparkle..."

So perfect. Oh Damon, I still would, even after that nasty northern tosspot hurt your nose (and even if you are a bit of a bellend)

  • the blur kinks album

    the great escape too

  • UGH! Damn ants in my carpet!!

  • Don't know why, but this to me is their most defining track... its just so blur!

  • nice ;DD

  • GCSE Music memories :D

  • still so good

  • Lol i couldn't concentrate at all on the questions when we this came up in my music exam, i was just baffled by blur

  • Best britpop bands ever: Blur, Gorillaz and Coldplay!!! <3

  • @Brollyhero99TOP10 gorillaz is not a britpop!

  • @anula464

    Oh yeah... well whatever... XD

  • @Brollyhero99TOP10 britpop is an era in the 90's this doesn't include Gorillaz or coldplay. Not being an arse just saying. Take it Easy.

  • untill i get this song on itunes im addin this to my favs, i been buying loads of songs on itunes and then it hit me i should buy blur end of a century and i only had 69p left =( thanks for uploadin this

  • this was my britpop song in gcse exam :D

  • nice song <3

  • End Of A Century sound very similiar to Look inside America doesnt it?

  • sounds*

  • Love it. Damon Albarn is far more talented and has a far greater voice than either of the Gallagher brothers. (And im a Manc)

  • @visitplanetmike

Come on, you have to admit, that Noels voice is very cool. I like it. And of course I like Damons voice.

  • @visitplanetmike

I'm sorry but u can't say dat if u havent seen em live... they are the best british band of the last 15 yrs. Blur are somewhat close but Oasis' first 2 albums are world class!

  • I wont argue that Oasis' first two albums, particulary Definitely Maybe are amazing. But that was Noel's genius writing. But i think in terms of voice, Albarn is just so unique and talented.

  • wrong there mate

  • bloody ants and their muscle eating ways!

this is an awesome song and album, one of my favourite britpop albums

  • The lyric is eating all the morsals, ie the the small food fragments left in the carpet. . .

Amazing song all the same :)

  • The album cover is a classic.

  • ever been to the races?

  • classic song.

  • lol this is so cool, you really dont notice how u age, but i was 15 when this came out and was a big Blur fan that was quite a shock remembering that theres people that werent even born when this was out, crazy, , its the same tho good music is good music, but ppl always have said music today is shite well so was the music back then its just that there arent any blurs or bands like that around now who even come close

  • your wrong. you just listen to the wrong music of today. RnB pop is not a representative of EVERY type of music we listen to.

  • why the hell did you reply that to me...i never mentioned any of that, if u wanna know the music i mostly listen to its Pink Floyd, The pretty things syd barrett t.rex(and full name early band) etc etc etc so dunno why u replied to me

  • ..eh? what i'm saying is, there are plenty of bands who come close, even surpass blur.

  • In the end of a Century!!!

  • ur mind gets dirty 2.30

  • I was around 11 when this song came out in 1994.This is my favourite Blur song along with Song 2 which came out 3 years later.

  • Lol this came out when i was born

  • A perfect pop song distilled from previous pop classics. Oasis did the same, in a different style. They're both great bands, turning old songs into new: classic post-modernism

  • I love the way its catchy like Oasis songs but its more unique...more,raw.

I see why they were rivals in the 90s ;)

Two amazeing bands, but Blur seem to apeal to me more these days.

  • Classic song. Just wish it lasted longer...

  • great album cover for a great album

  • righteous

  • what a great comment

  • whoops double post! I prefer the second one so read that one XD

  • "We wear the same clothes cuz we feel the same." I love that line, it feels so true to me. I feel like I'm the only person I know who hasn't given into modern fads to be fashionable. I am what I am because of what I feel. It also makes me hope that someday I'll find a girl who genuinely thinks just how I do, who can be a kindred spirit.

  • I'll amen to that, brother.

  • You know I love how you used the word kindred...that was a word I used to say back when i listened to this blur album when it came out. I hope you find your kindred spirit. Kindred spirits are a rare and good thing. Just listening to Blur reminds me of great times and kindred friends.

  • Totally agree with that. This album was released just under a year before I was born, and almost all the music I like is from before I was born. So I always feel slightly like an outsider. Whereas my friends are following modern fashion and music, I'm a weird mish-mash of the fashions and music of the past four decades. I can never see why everyone wants to be the same, and I do like being different, but I'd be so much happier if there were just a few more people who were different too.

  • It's nice to know there are other people like me :) Even if I never meet them, they exist.

  • well that makes three of us plus my two friends it seems that everyone is ready to criticize if you a bunch of different music i could listen to this song then right after listen to a slayer song well there not a lot of people like that but i wish there were

  • i am on of those too ^^ ...

  • There are plenty of out-of-the-box folks like yourself.

Just open your eyes when you visit the world.

I, myself, am a bit caught up in modern fashions, but I love, love, love the old music. You just can't beat it with the junk we churn out these days.

  • Yeah, that's probably true. I suppose I'm being melodramatic to prove my point! It is definitely true that there are people around who share my opinions on music. It is also true, though, that I don't yet know anyone my age who shares my tastes, except my best friend, and we got into all this older stuff together.

And yes, I agree that the music nowadays is very much more manufactured than it used to be. Not all of it, but a lot.

  • I'm a lot like you. Since I am not much given to new music, Blur with Inspiral Carpets, very good! Much 90's... y 80's.

  • @philbateman1989 I can vouch for you that there are girls out there who don't really give a toss of what your wearing or if it's designer etc... beautiful ones too... The ones that do care are not worth a toss my friend.. A good tip is to find a girl that isn't english.. my girlie is French.. low maintenance... :)

  • @philbateman1989 that's soooooooo true,i do feel the same

  • @philbateman1989 You're so deep, Phil.

  • @philbateman1989 I use to wear like Albarn ,,in these days,,and i was in my 20,s...cause i felt it,,,and now i still wear like in these days...even if is not fashionable for the most of the people,,but i feel it,,and i like too much to be a bit different to the most of the people,,,,90 s rule again!!!cheers ...

  • @philbateman1989 u sound like a complete bellend mate

  • @coolhandluke1889 Thanks bro, so do you :)

  • @philbateman1989 I think you've found 40 kindred spirits. Some of them must be girls.

  • "We wear the same clothes cuz we feel the same." I love that line. It feels really true to me. I feel like I'm the only person I know who hasn't become part of the modern fads. I am who I am because of the things I feel

  • well.. guz varies from pple to pple.. but i only agree partially with UB5GUY.. this album was one of the albums tht define Britpop

  • thats sounds great blur and exams iwas listening to this album for the first time doing my exams and they had just releasd parklife at the time and oasis started slagging blur off as blur where the big band before oasis took off aaaah those where the days nirvana, soundgarden, there ws proper music back then its a shame what boy bands did to the industry cant get any worse tho i hope

  • Liam Gallagher thinks Blur are/were brilliant. Well, that's sort of what he said.

  • In your oppinion.... which really doesnt count for much

  • So what you put a capital n on 'never' but nobody is whining about spelling mistakes other than you are they.

    Back to primary school idiot

  • most overrated album ever? perhaps

  • omg Damon is gorgeous

  • aah as everyones said, mock exam.. i remember getting the text book and seeing graham coxen and blur on the cover and thinking gcse music isnt gunna be that bad.. then we only studied blur for about 11 seconds :(

  • Lol i know nice how they totally trick you with that for the most part gcse was all about minimalism and stuff like that

  • @robstabs it's a new sylabus this year......... There is no longer blur on the front cover :( nobody else knew who they were...

  • @robstabs to quote a greater man than I "Dirty little monsters"

  • gr8 song

  • omg my mock exam too lol, u sure we rnt all in the same class?

  • i think they used the same exam throughout the country because it would be 2007

  • This was in our mock aswell ! lol

all the band except the bass player are in gce music :D lol

  • I love BLUR*

  • This is in my music exam haha

  • Yeah it was in my mock
