Though I wholeheartedly disagree, I can recognize great poetry when I hear/read it. This was very well written. Thank you for sharing. And this is coming from an agnostic atheist :)
np. it's sad that people have to disapprove of completely unbiased opinions that show nothing but good intentions (hence the thumbs down on my comment) and i am glad that you could see my comment for what it was unlike someone else who viewed your video and didn't even have enough courage to respond to me intellectually/logically. i wish more people could be as open minded as you about their spiritual beliefs. again, thanks. best of luck :)
should i feel wrong for doin what was called defensive preaching to a video on atheism in a comment?it seems that im learnin some people have more belief in there own knowledge than what they can not see , n thats what i do not understand, but what they do not understand is the belief is only to use of hypocrites if it dont match the practice,there4 there is something in existence to correctly believe as a matter of fact
diversy: Maybe you shouldn't feel wrong but poetry is its own world... the only wrong way to do poetry is to write it poorly; this poem was crafted to perfection. That is all the defense it needs. (I'm an atheist btw) - peace :)
First off:people that believe in God dont have to debate whether or not there is a God because they belive it right?no need for them to be poetic second off:what does that judeo-christian shit or protestant catholic mumbo jumbo have to do with whether or not there is a God?you choose to use that on the basis of your belief to some extent judgin from what i heard Islam means peace in arabic Allah is its only source and the definition of Muslim istrubleevr
Who said I believe? You assume that I am preaching in this poem, and your defensive nature calls-out a sound off, yet this poem is nothing more than a snapshot of a conversation. Reread your post and tell me who's the one preaching here.
Believer you play the put upon game. cry victim while all the while victimizing. You claim you only shudder at freedom run amok. You value ignorance over insight. You rejoice at your self imposed slavery. You cry crocodile tears for the fallen. You love to hack at the genitals of god's perfect creation and call it a gift. You are vile an evil. Even the kindest of you are cruel in your beliefs. Pro slavery, anti woman, accomplice to all intolerance. Your love is god's hate.
Closed-mindedness, nonacceptance, ignorance...these are the catalyst to hatred. No human is superior to another - regardless of religious, spiritual, or political beliefs. I don't mind you posting your anger induced responses on my work, as long as your mind is open enough to understand that my post is nothing more than a poem and not a statement of faith, but rather a simple observation between atheists and believers. Frankly, I think you are both wrong.
No, I didn't hate your poem. Do believers really feel that they are superior to others due to a possession of their faith? Or is it their faith is merely an insecurity under the guise of superiority? And do aetheists find security in not believing? This isn't about who is right or wrong, superior or inferior, but rather simply a matter of security.
An insightful interpretation Tina, and so eloquently expressed. "...and faith in your disbelief" says it so well, for so many embody the determination of faith expressed, even in the midst of rebellion against religious symbolism. It in fact often appears to be the epitome of blind faith; a fervent doctrine articulated in lack of self examination, as if it be that without the doorway of symbolism there is no admission of what lies within yet is ...
may i appollogise there is a first half to this poetic responce which i posted but it never came up so i asumed you were vetting coments my sincerest appollogy.
Have you ever noticed how some atheists approach their atheism with a religious fervor? It can, in some ways, be more annoying than fundamentalist evangelism. Such certainty is not conducive to good poetry because it shuts down the ability to reason and to wonder. This is something to ponder.
Is uncertainty what makes good poetry? I'm not convinced that good poetry is always philosophical in nature - as I tend to not take the philosophical road in my writing, but rather simply capture a snapshot, a feeling, or an observation. Definitely something to ponder though. Thanks for commenting!
One of the beautiful attributes of being human is to be able converse and express our differences. I find it amusing when one defends their viewpoint so passionately that they don't even notice the irony or the hypocrisy behind their words and actions. I'm sure I am able to see it so clearly because I'm guilty of it myself - another beauty behind the human mind.
Thanks janeczka! Looking forward to getting back into full swing in a few weeks. If what DRC refers to below is true, I hope you are having a fun, relaxing time!
Hi Tina :) Great to see you - I have been away quite a bit this summer, but great to catch up with you now :)
I think I tangented off listening to this a couple of times...particularly around the idea / memories of having 'vain conquests' recounted to me, in some wretchedly miserable attempt to 'impress'!! Funny how different parts of a poem will leap out to different people and at different times.
Thanks for sharing this and hope you are doing well!
Thanks so much for stopping. Always nice to hear from you. I had to smile when I read your comment, it seems we have some similar experiences with impressions. I love hearing how something I wrote clicks in a similar manner with another person. Makes me feel the world is a tad friendlier.
Hope your doing well. Once fall schedules get in place, I hope to catch up more :)
great poem, I love how you say 'your voice ironically summons the power of a god, to complete the connection of your vein conquest.'
any how, I am yet clueless what to believe, but I certainly don't believe in God,
this is not an attempt to change your point of vieuws, but, what about Deism or agnostism?
any how, I could care less about having a believe at all.
thanks for the poetry, inspired me a lot as I'm working on my own poem about higher powers.

Awesome poem.
One small hint though, filter out the highest tones, so the letter S doesn't sound so shrill in the microphone.

"Closed-mindedness, nonacceptance, ignorance..." these are the sinew of all religion and faith. Along with racism, and intolerance.
"No human is superior to another"
No true "believer" holds this egalitarian view as sacredly as I do.
Believer's in god, or faith, when not feigning pat "godly" humility, are the most supercilious.
What better way to feel superior than believing that you where in possession of some great gift that was denied to others? Sheer arrogance
I guess you hated the poem?

God is ok, its religion that causes trouble.
For a thinking person, what we believe should be personal.
If you believe she exists, then you believe she gave us free will to find our own path.
As for being conceited about our beliefs, or lack of them... Yuk!
Thanks for posting such a concise poem that said so much.
