Thank you! i am Metis and although some ignorant people think that in order to be Native you have to have a certain amount of blood or marriage within the same tribe - this is bull. I have a horrible time trying to find any resources to share my heritage with my children because we are not of "enough blood". This Racial outlook is just as bad as anything that has been done to Native population by outsiders. This is a great was for me to connect and show my family my heritage.
@cattygurl25 True Native people believe you are what you are in your heart. Keep that in mind when you teach your little ones about their heritage. If you live in a good way, pray in a good way, & do your best to live the way the Creator intended us to live then that alone should tell you you are Native. "It doesn't have to be measured by the amount of blood but the amount in your heart." - wise elder once told me.
Thanks for posting this song. I am a descendant of many French Acadian - Mi'kmaw marriages from long ago. We were expelled by th british in the 1750's and 1760's. Because we tended to marry within our own communities, I still have a good deal of indian heritage. Your videos allow me to reconnect to my native heritage and causes my soul to stir and tears to fall at what could have been. Wela'lieg tahoe - Gi Gassuinu
Please post the words for the rest of us Mi'Kmaq that don't speak. I'd love a translation. Thank you for putting this on. You have a beautiful full voice.
