  • This was on public TV, prime time, and ok then. Why is it adult sign on now? Ridiculous. There is a lot worse on TV today then when this originally aired.

  • BIG crush I had on that gal ...I was only about eight at the time..!

  • PHEW!!!!!!!!!, she was a babe used to watch back in the 70`s

  • Funny thing is at San Diego ComicCon several years ago a dealer was selling the Konami PVC figures and ships from Space:1999 and UFO, and had the Lt. Ellis figures out on display. While we were talking several kids kept coming up and asking what anime or manga series they were from! We had to stop each time and explain that this was a live-action character from a British TV series. ;-)

  • Very Buck Rogers lol

  • Purple hair, high heeled boots, and silver mini skirt. I wish I lived in the future.

  • @FantasticBob7000 Yeah but we were ripped off, cos this was supposed to be 1980 in the show made in 1969 !. There was no sign of it when we got there ! . Mind you I would not be able to control myself ; I might become a rapist

  • @TheKenfig Yeah the future was pretty disappointing I guess. Although we did get a good amount of bare midriffs.

But dude you kind of ruined it with the rapist thing.

  • @FantasticBob7000 Well, not really being a sociopath I'd have to 'av regular cold showers

  • @TheKenfig Ya being a geek I'd have to settle for daily cold sonic cleaning chambers.

  • Dear American Christian Taliban: Please stop Flagging a British Mid 80ies afternoon TV serial for sexual content - this is ridiculous!

  • Yea those were the days a 15 year old kid watching this on a Saturday afternoon

  • Win.

  • Moonbase is a hot zone for Aliens to visit. They only want to be our friends.

  • M E O W !

  • You know I could watch this all day! LoL!

  • Her actual name is Gabrielle Drake . What a Fox !

  • Nice !!

  • ufo had the best costumes ever...they are classics.

  • Space Boner

  • Best Vid I have seen on here all week.5 Stars and thanks for posting.

  • Must remember that move. Use computer check as excuse to gatecrash women's changing room. Set the check for ten minutes time so you can linger on for a crafty up-skirt. Not so unidentified flying object to follow.

  • Oh boy... She is so beautiful! I love her.

  • Damn.... what a rack!

  • Sadly it mostly padding :(

  • I'd recycle that tin-foil anytime!

  • I suppose you'd really need mini skirts like that on the moon.

  • OOOOO, a TV blooper! They had the 2-way mirror installed backwards!

  • The women of Star Trek were hot but the silver suits and purple hair of this show makes me want to go and beam off !! Energize !!

  • She's still very popular in Japan too, there are magazines and model figure kits of her, and at least one resin head about 1/3 or 1/4 scale. I wouldn't be surprised if someone converted one of the full size fiberglass figures to look like her.

I always thought women makes better (more economical) astronauts. They can handle more Gs, weighs about 1/3 less and eats less too. If it weren't for that once a month "Amok Time" period, they'd be perfect.

  • I quite liked your "Amok Time" reference. An all female crew would end up having their periods synchronize over time. Actually this and menstruation itself is a very minor problem. On average lower weight, Oxygen and food consumption is a very big plus. I always thought the Apollo Lunar Module looked cute with it's wistful looking face. I would have loved hearing a female astronaut comment on this from the Moon.

  • I agree. I remember during the 1980s when we gave one of our female USAF member a ride on the F-15. The pilot pulled every Gs to make her sick but when they returned, it was he that was sick and the girl was so excited that she wanted to do it again. Another girl then told me that "if we can handle giving babies, we can handle any Gs". It was then that I decided to publish a comicbook about female space pilots myself.

  • the problem is in the fact that that would also cut down the available crew in the future. also. i would like to know where your getting this idea that genders have specific amounts they do or don't consume. i myself don't eat very much and i'm a guy. i only eat till i'm happy and full, there are plenty of women or girls that could outeat me. also. their time of teh month is easy to counteract with the normal methods now. the Superiors would just not talk to them for a few days.

  • Groovy

  • Ahora veo porque me encataba este programa.

  • Could be done-using the same garment for leisure and duty wear. The uniform in "real life" would be knitted with yarn that had ultra fine silver wire/polyester mix. Silver has an anti-biotic effect which would stop it from smelling after an extended period of use. Would be a great weight saver considering the expense of carrying anything to the moon. No danger of Gay Ellis getting whiffy at the end of her tour of duty

  • are you serious................

  • Yes. Google the phrase "silver antibacterial". Bacteria are what make worn clothes smell. There's talk of using fine silver wires in medical dressings as you might spot on Google.

  • Not sure you'd use yarn. Silk, or a synthetic fibre based around silk, would seem better. (Silk is sometimes used in battlefield dressings as it has some nice properties on wounds. Spider silk also has the greatest tensile strength of any natural fibre and if they could ever figure out how to produce enough of it or how to process it, a lightweight shirt of the stuff should outdo modern kevlar bodyarmour.)

  • It's possible Gay Ellis' outfit also forms the base layer of a spacesuit system and contains the materials you mentioned as part of the micrometeorite protection. If the outer layers are breached this alluring garment serves as a last ditch defense against skin penetration. It could also contain a cooling/heating system with a fractal arrangement of water piping. Probably manufactured by growing a genetically engineered variety of marine sponge around a model matching Ellis' vital statistics.

  • Dude, I think you're overanalyzing the alien sex scene!

  • SCHWING!

  • Gee, you wouldn't want to have to get dressed quickly if there was a UFO invasion. Those sleeves would be a bugger to get on!

  • If the UFO's were on the rampage and I were Ellis I'd say sod the sleeves and dive into a spacesuit. If memory serves I think that did happen once.

  • I use to watch this program as a kid, the stories were a bit on the boring side, but enjoyed the action. scenes..

I hope one day they would revive this series.

What a great scene with Gabrielle.. :D

  • I was in love with her in 1972 when I was 11 years old. She is freaking amazing. What a beauty. And I love the sexy, graceful way she moves. Plus she is really intelligent. Love her. Goddess!

  • Right with you there Russell...What a woman ! I was 13 at the time and told all my mates I had a girlfriend called Gail Ellis !! nobody twigged even though they all watched the show

  • She is quite simply: a Goddess. I still love her! The show was beyond exciting and mind-expanding. Long live Gerry Anderson!

  • My one regret is that Gerry and Sylvia Anderson fell apart as a team. Together, they were unbeatable, although they never had the funding they deserved. Apart, neither has achieved the same level of success, although both are unquestionably brilliant. That is the problem with genius, it needs a counterbalance but so often that dynamic is unstable. I salute them both but mourn their might-have-beens.

  • Sylvia Anderson co-produced all my favourite TV shows and movies. Season I of SPACE:1999 was the best, and season II had lost the feeling of awe and mystry of outer space, and Barry Gray's fantastic and exciting music! SPECTRUM IS GREEN

  • Gabrielle Drake was freaking gorgeous. I kinda agree with what was being said about the series being a little scary. The end title music was so eeire and some of the story lines were scary/psychedelic. But overall what a great series for a kid in the early 70's.

  • I found her very exciting as a kid - TMI?

  • I never understood the purple haired chicks. Were they a special cloned race of dolls?

  • No, that was just the Andersons' projections on how women would wear their hair in the future. And, in all honesty, how far off were they?

  • I've seen blue at Tory party conference so why not purple on the moon?

If they had all been overweight, tattooed and pierced, we would have said...What????? But now look at the local 'talent'. And that's just the men.

  • They were anti static, so as not to affect the microprocessors of the day on Moonbase.

  • U know what? When I was a small kid this series scared the shit outta me! But I loved it! It is such a cult and wonderful trashy - one of best series ever! This scene was a scandal those days LOOOOL ;-)

  • Yeah, I can just see the x-rated recreation on the space shag carpet with the purple-headed girls in tight polyester. Grrrrrrr!

  • A pretty tempting target? She says that as she strips off! It's like the Skydiver girl with the big chest talking about "Boosters" all the time! So much subtext in this show!

    Ade

  • Ahhh....I love it! UFO rules!!!

    Ade

  • i really miss this show!! thank God for youtube

  • Gabrielle Drake was a classically-trained actress. She left the series half way through to star in films such as There's a Girl in My Soup with Peter Sellers. One of these films, Au Pair Girls, she has several fully nude scenes including long scenes where she's full frontal. So if you're a fan of Gabrielle Drake and want to see her naked that's the film to get.

  • Get the UFO DVD megaset. I have the new SHADO Mobiles, and the Moonbase interceprot and UFO, and SKYdiver, the new toys that came out a few years ago,, from Carleton and A&E.

  • I bought and watched UFO and SPACE: 1999 on DVD a couple years ago. A couple months ago I started watching them again and I am a quarter way through SPACE: 1999. I forgot a lot and enjoying it even more the second time around. Gabrielle Drake had two great episodes, this is one of them (I think its the first episode), the other one is where she goes to earth and is without her wig and silver uniform.

  • That was the great episode: COMPUTER AFFAIR. You see that the purple anti-static wigs were just part of the moonbase command centre uniform (just as British barristers still wear powdered wigs in court). That episode has some great UFO-combat scenes with the ground-based SHADO-mobiles. The guy who plays the Interceptor commander Mark is really great. Wonder what ever happend to him. First time I ever saw a Black commander on Television. Now is commonplace, just as Gerry Anderson predicted.

  • Au Pair Girls is an awesome film, very 60's. Gabrielle Drake is amazing in it, she just walks around everywhere naked. The 60's must have been awesome.

  • And not to be too sexist the men too! LOL

  • Can you imagine this 2009 stylee..! the makers of the programme back in 1969-1970's didn't realise what the future had comming 4 us.

today...obese women, muffin tops the lot hanging out of the silver suits, the PC brigade, Muslim women refusing to wear the gear so on and so fourth... ha ha ha, yeah really... Look what our future ended up to be.

  • The reason for this is that Sylvia Anderson designed all the women's clothes for the show and this is like a catwalk to show off the goods.

  • shes got the bacofoil on,ready for the stuffing now.

  • And I'm the man to do the stuffing!!!!

  • Sexual permissiveness and science fiction go hand in hand. It's just a fact!

  • gordon bennet! that lets me have a proper throber everytime.

  • Purpled headed babes in Silver dresses look hot these day's!

  • Repeat: OH, BEHAVE!

  • maybe she should have said "strip me up, scotty"!!!

    LOL!!!

  • Geeeeeeeeeezzzzzz!!! Star Trek didn't have these!!! LOL!!!

  • wow Streaptease auf dem Mond. Einfach spacig...

    Tolle Figur!!!

  • Yep, the closest Star Trek equivalent is probably that green Orion dancing slave girl.

  • She's fox'' i been in love with Gay Ellis since i was 7years old.. I have a S.H.A.D.O group on facebook. come and check it out...

  • This is so aweful it gives Sci-Fi spoofs a bad neame!

  • It would have been funny if she'd have mooned at him.

  • Those are some nice legs. :)

  • Nice tits too!

  • Tits like that only happen in 1/3rd gravity!

  • Just how big was this Moonbase? That corridor looks like a Pullman railroad car, and Lt. Ellis room looks like it would be about the same size as a railroad compartment.

  • I seem to remember this was on real early cos I never missed it. Even as a young nipper I would be wondering what these funny feelings were I got as I watched the women in this show. Now Im a fully fledged perv

  • Silver space pants! Wooorrrrr!

  • woops wrong show this was 1980

  • Yes in 1999 women everywhere wore tinfoil and purple wigs I really miss the 1990s :-)

  • I always wodered where i got my Fitish feelings from as a young boy!

  • ... must... become... astronaut...

  • watching this tv show when I was 5 was one of the best things of my childhood...when Star Trek was on the screen I just turned it off...I always knew I was doing the right choice .

  • Ha ha!, The theme tune even changed to a kind of Burlesque Soho strip tune, Great show, great time to have been young!..

  • Gabriel Drake growl, if you want to see

A LOT more of her get Au Pair Girls (1972)oh boy.

  • LT.Ellis always makes my Buck Private stand to attention. Thats some tasty tracker trim. This show could have gone on for years if she didnt quit after 13 episodes.

  • faltaron los Interceptores...

  • My favourite Moon Grrl!Lt. Ellis;-)

  • Ah, the "futuristic" 1980 fashion according to Sylvia Anderson.

  • They gave me my first woody!!!

  • And my parents wondered why this was my favorite show on TV.

I even had a UFO lunch box (very cool)

  • After all these years it still makes me smile my first crush ever was on Lt Ellis when I was 6 haha my favourite scfi series

  • They certainly don't seem very shy at all. Somebody trained them right :)

  • Well, these are highly trained professionals living in close quarters for months at a time without much room for privacy. They've got to have a no-nonsense attitude about things like dressing, undressing, and seeing each other naked!

  • mmmm yummy... sexploitation at it's finest

  • fantastic series, those girls used to drive me bonkers... those were the days.

  • An interesting bit of trivia: Gabrielle Drake who plays Lt Ellis is the sister of the late singer Nick Drake. So there.

  • As this clip illustrates, back in the "Hugh Hefner" days of the 70s it was a positive thing for a woman to be sexy and unashamed of it. Compare that to now...

  • For some reason, that makes me want to go to the moon...

  • DAMN!

    I was only 10 y.o.

But I can swear that I was totally in love for LT.Ellis!

    Great!

    I don't agree with a new version...

    Dave.

  • Who cares about the utronic equipment? Let's get our silver kit off and go orbital Gabrielle! A figure of desire for me when I had not the er, wherewithal..

  • Bloody HELL...which episode was THIS?!

Aah, Gabrielle - my first TV crush!

  • Was/is a brilliant show. Only annoyance watching it these days is how analogue everything is... everyone's pushing buttons like their lives depend on it.. lol

  • I like the way she stood off to the side of the mirror, just for our camera angle. She'll only have been able to check her right boot :-) Brilliant show.

  • Lieutenant Ellis was always my favourite space girl!

  • Ive met her and she is still really sexy, even now. Grrrreat & Groovy Brit TV.

  • I met her at a Gerry Anderson convention, and agree that she's still as beautiful today.

  • Thank you for your comment. Purple hair, yuck!

  • Are these ladies clones?

  • I don't think they are meant to be clones but I can see your point.

  • No, not clones. I read that Gerry Anderson liked the look of the color under the lights and that he and presumably also his wife Sylvia Anderson (the show's costume designer) felt that by the 1980s (the show's time setting) wigs were going to be very commonplace as fashion accessories. They incorporated the wigs as part of the Moonbase girls' standard uniform. When Lt. Ellis visited Earth, she did not wear the purple wig or the heavy eye makeup.

  • soooooooooo coooooooooool
