How can you not laugh at Victor Borge?? The man is one of the funniest and most innovative comedians ever to have performed!!!! If you dislike this, then you have absolutely no sense of humor and really need to see if Wal-Mart has one on sale that you can pick up!!!!!
Man, I remember the TV ads for the tape of The Best of Victor Borge, I was 4 years old at the time, I wanted to see it, this was one of the key jokes in the commercials, and about 14 years later, I finally got the tape, and I LAAAAAAUGHED the whole way through. God bless Victor Borge, he was a VERY funny man!
hes not actually playing it backwards lol, only put the first 3 notes in a higher octave and the next 3 notes backwards. if he actually plays it backwards it'll sound weird.
@zaldude Was it? I don't mean anything. I'm just not really sure about the first piece he played. I have just learnt that It was a composing technique?
People need to chill with the "don't need to be rude" comments. Victor Borge is hilarious but if every comedian was clean like him we'd have 100 Ken Dodds and wouldn't have our Carr's, Gervais's, Izzards and Evan's. There's a place for everyone in comedy =) Variety is one of the most exciting things about it.
@Anubiste Dont forget Robin William's in the dirty (non-clean) comedians... he could be one of the best....worst.....best..... worst... you know what I mean :)
I remember my father showing me a video of his years ago when I was a kid... I remember the "Happy Birthday" pieces, and remember thinking that it was pure genius. I couldn't remember what his name was or anything more specific other than his Happy Birthday pieces but somehow managed to find him. Youtube definitely has its uses, and I still think that this man was a genius.
This man was the funniest professional piano-player, i have ever seen and heard playing the piano!!! He was amazing and a very good musician!!!
A true inspiration for many other musicians and comedians alike to combine these things together!! Two great examples nowadays who has stepped in their own way in his footsteps are Andre Rieu and Hans Liberg !!! But Victor Borge still remains the master! :-) Along with another great person not from Sweden, but from the usa namely Danny Kaye!!
the joke is hilarious and I appreciate it for what it's worth (i.e. I laughed like an idiot)
that said..forgive me if I'm wrong but is the higher note not a direct consequence of having the staff upside down? I mean...if you phisically went and turned the page upside down, the tempo would be the same, but the notes all different..wouldn't they?
Haha you remember, when they were having auditions for the church organist, and Jake Tucker started to play something that sounded godawful, and then Tom Tucker ran up and turned the music upside down, and then he played the William Tell Overture. I think this is where Seth MacFarlane got da idea.
victer had a style all his own there will never be any one else like him,,,he made people laugh he made people cry,,,the piano keys were his voice,,victer made the piano talk to people ,,,every time his hands went on the keys,,he was a master at what he did,,no one else could top victer in his stylish way,,no one else like him,,,victer was a perfectionest,,,he did everything right,,thats why he was so popular,,thats why people liked him,,for who he was
Dude.. are you serious? ITS SUPPOSED TO BE FUNNY. Thats why the mistakes are there! His a COMEDIAN PIANIST. What the hell is wrong with people these days come on ..........
I grew up listening to this wonderful pianist! Thank you mom and dad...for filling my life with these happy memories! Good to know many people are still listening to him play.
it's... most definitely backwards, wilhelm tell starts low, and goes up, what he played started high, and became lower, rythm is off, sure, but still, it's not just a higher note
Such a bright piano.
